May Rei's third solo work, IT'S ALL ABOUT PHASES is a series of snapshots of life, a cycle of portraits that immortalizes the artist as a being that grows in stages over time.
“It’s all about phases” sums up the multiple identities of May Rei / Mariangela Diella, experimenter of electronic rhythms formerly part of Hertzen – a duo formed with Brazilian producer Marcelo Ribeiro Dias / Self.
From programming the beats to composition, from writing the lyrics to mastering, every creative and operational phase of this third solo work was conducted in person, closing the circle with distribution through Einklang Records, a label founded by the artist in 2019.
“It's all about phases” is the result of studies on beat and rhythmic objects, created by manipulating electronic and virtual, analog and acoustic instruments, combined with simple melodies, the carefully chosen and designed sounds trigger emotions that the voice translates and amplifies, enhancing its meaning.
The 11 tracks tell the cyclical change of existence: from the shape of sound to the rhythmic passage of the Moon, from different moments of life to musical growth, everything is divided into phases, in multiple identities, moods and faces worn in response to the 'environment.

Biography:
Composer, producer, beatmaker and singer, May Rei uses synthesizers, effects, virtual instruments and voice to create musical worlds and tell fragments of herself.
Love for rhythm, for analog sounds and a natural predisposition towards FM synthesis distinguish her productions: a fusion of styles and cultures – from synth-pop to oriental traditions, from downtempo to club-sound – read through the curious gaze of experimentation.
Moving from Italy to Germany in 2007, May Rei – moniker of Mariangela Diella – specializes in Electronic Music Production at the SAE Institute in Munich (2018-2019) and perfects her skills at the Moog Summer Camp conducted by Enrico Cosimi in Venice in 2019.
Formerly part of Hertzen – a duo formed with the carioca producer Marcelo Ribeiro Dias / Self, in 2020 May Rei records EPIPHANY, her first solo album, followed by the EP THE BITE OF THE WITCH (2021) distributed by her Einklang Records. IT'S ALL ABOUT PHASES (2022) is her latest album.
