Writers’ Style Guide

This is a style guide for all writers of interviews and reviews at chaindlk.com

INTERVIEWS

  • Titles of interviews should be ONLY the artist name, nothing else.
  • Capitalize the first letter of every word only please.
  • Do NOT use ALL CAPS!
  • Do NOT write “Interview with …” or things like that because the permalink for the interview will be created with the name of the artist. This is so that if you write “Artist Name” the permalink will be www.chaindlk.com/interviews/Artist-Name (which is what we want) but if you write something else it will end up being www.chaindlk.com/interviews/interview-with-artist-name (which we don’t want).
  • If you have a logo add it at the top of the interview.
  • If you have a an intro paragraph to introduce the artist or the interview add it at the top.
  • NO font settings (everything must be plain text so the font looks the same across the whole site).
  • All questions need to start with “Chain D.L.K.:” in bold, ideally “Chain D.L.K.” in bold and then colon “:” not in bold, and then a space, like in the following example:
Chain D.L.K.: When was your band formed?
  • All answers need to start with “Artist Name:” in bold, ideally “Artist Name” in bold and then colon “:” not in bold, and then a space, like in the following example:
Artist Name: Our band was formed in 1994.
  • If you are interviewing multiple members of the band you can use their names, like in the following example:
John Doe: Our band was formed in 1994.
Jane Doe: I joined the band the following year.
  • Add a blank line after every question.
  • Add a blank line after every answer.
  • If you mention the artist in the interview write it in bold, like in the following example:
I’ve always been a fan of Artist Name, did you guys know you have fans everywhere?
  • If you or the artist mention an album in the interview add it in italics, like in the following example:
We recorded our first album entitled Origins in 1994.
  • If you or the artist mention a song in the interview add it between “simple double quotes”, like in the following example:
Was your song “My Bloody Song” the first song you guys wrote?
  • At the end of the interview write the sentence “visit Artist Name online at:” followed by all the relevant links, like in the following example:
    Visit Artist Name online at:
    www.artistname.com
    www.facebook.com/artistname
    www.bandcamp.com/artistname
    etc…
  • Make sure ALL the links across the interview and at the bottom of the interview open in a new page if possible.

REVIEWS

  • If you mention the artist in the review write it in bold, like in the following example:
I’ve always been a fan of Artist Name and their new album reconfirms my appreciation for their music.
Please Note: this should happen automatically if you spell the Artist Name the same way as you spelled it in the “Artist” field when entering the review.
  • If you mention an album in the review add it in italics, like in the following example:
Their new album entitled Latest Album is amazing.
Please Note: this should happen automatically if you spell the Album Title the same way as you spelled it in the “Title” field when entering the review.
  • If you or the artist mention a song in the review add it between “simple double quotes”, like in the following example:
Their song “My Bloody Song” is my favorite of this album.
