TERENCE FIXMER: TECHNO-GOD RETURNS WITH A NEW CD!!

TERENCE FIXMER “COMEDY OF MENACE”
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Icon of the electronic north of France, Terence Fixmer is one of France’s most treasured protagonists of the techno scene, of which he has been at the forefront for over 10 successful years. Respected by his peers and adored by fans of radical over- and underground electro, equally at ease in the club or at a pure techno festival as he is in the so-called “dark” scene, Terence reached this respected level, without ever succumbing to excessive promotion or subscribing to the mainstream. In summary: Two solo albums on Gigolo, DJ Hell’s mythical Munich-based label; the seminal “Muscle Machine” that single-handedly spearheaded a new style, “techno body music” (a unique combination of modern techno and EBM of the founding fathers from Nitzer Ebb to Front 242); copious maxis on prestigious labels, such as Novamute, Datapunk, Different, Music Man; and remixes for various techno gods, from Sven Väth to Dave Clarke and his own personal godfather, DJ Hell.

In addition to his solo productions, Terence also founded the duo, “Fixmer / McCarthy”, along with Nitzer Ebb’s legendary vocalist, Douglas McCarthy. The result of this partnership is two albums that unite the brutality of techno body music and the sensuality of pop. The duo have performed their energetic live sets at renowned clubs and festivals all accross the globe. 2008 represents a turning point in the evolution of Terence Fixmer’s sound, which deftly avoids repetition by developing soundscapes that appeals to the club crowd, whilst still maintaining musical depth and integrity. Sombre, defined by surging rhythmical structures reminiscent of Emmanuel Top or Plastikman, Terence’s music appeals as much to dancing feet, as it does to the searching soul.Keeping it rough around the edges. A pioneer, he above all preserves an original style, at once recognizable, that beats at the heart of contemporary techno production. Released on Electric Deluxe.

ALIEN VAMPIRES “NO ON HERE GETS OUT ALIVE”
Alien Vampires is a collaboration of members from UK and Italy in a born-again hard project that literally takes listeners into the pit of hell and never lets them out again. Some tracks tout haunting female backgrounds, others the urgent throbbing of seduction by evil on the more archingly anti-religious tracks, all insane, all hardcore. Clearly, the band intends to evoke thoughts of torture, satanism and deviance run amok. Alien Vampires prove to be masters of the craft in creating the soundtrack to infernal darkness by combining sexuality and sadism. “No One Here Gets Out Alive” is a flaming cocktail meant for killers who seek to mate with those willing to lend their soft throats to tight hands. These marauders of the electro night have already established themselves as a genuine “cult” band with a, dare we say, religiously devoted following, and are inch-by-bloody-inch clawing their way to the top of the heap. Carnage is no obstacle for this band. AV recently knocked out a live concert with well-known former BLC band (now on Out of Line) AGONOIZE, and led away loads of new followers … in chains and spikes. With tracks like “We are Dead Fuck You” and “Rave to the Grave”, listeners are given a small clue of the uncensored, trance-laden, crucifix-wielding murderous fury through which AV rumbles and slides on 14 tracks in a conceptually unblinking, totally uncensored layout. Alien Vampires burns together black metal, trance and hardcore industrial in what may be simply the biggest, freshest album of 2007 for the “black” crowd. Epic, intense, shiveringly evil – spot on, all the way through.

DIVERJE “BURN AWAY”
DIVERJE returns with their 7th full length album and the strongest new material yet! New member Adam Lane writes half of the album with Tommy T. and the results are stronger, and more diverse than ever! As with all DIVERJE albums this doesn’t sound the same all the way through.Lots of variety in the styles, musically and vocally, and they still seem to all work and flow together as a full album and not a compilation of songs.Solid contributions from regular members JOSH WOOD, and VINCE PUJOL, and some amazing new friends join DIVERJE on this trip!! The album consists of 12 brand new songs and collaborations, plus 3 bonus remixes from PROYECTO CRISIS, VIGILANTE and DIVERJE!! Collaborations with Adam Lane of OBSCURE DESCENSION bring a more detailed, complex arrangement structure with HARSH EBM/INDUSTRIAL and Guitars mixed on half the tracks which add a metallic flavor and extra aggression to the mix.”BURN AWAY”, “EVIL NEVER DIES”,and “SUFFER THIS WORLD” are amongst the most anthemic and powerful DIVERJE songs yet! “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER” is a real catchy and melodic EBM club track, and “VIGILANT” is pure brutality!! Bee Forrest of MANGADRIVE provides some fast, slick and thick psytrance sounds mixed with more melodic vocals of Tommy T. on “YOU CAN HURT”and a song with some of the craziest fun samples you have heard yet on “ITS A BONG(NOT A BOMB)!! Vince Pujol of ESR works with Tommy on “LEAVE IN SILENCE” the classic DEPECHE MODE track from 1981.They do this song justice and will surprise many of the DIVERJE fans in this clean and sincere cover version. The duo also work on another old school styled Electro track “FEED THE RICH”which reminds us of the older DIVERJE sound. Josh Wood of THE MERCY CAGE collaborates on a rock/new wave track called “EVERYTHING IS WASTED” which is easily the most different song on the album, but it has a catchiness and emotion to it thats not to be denied. There is also a real unique track on here called “BUNKER SOUL” that is a collaboration of DIVERJE VS. COLD DRIVE VS. VIGILANTE and the result is nothing short of amazing!!! mixing in old school, new school, harsh electro, coldwave, classic vocoded electro… The album is relentless and keeps you going and moving till the end of the 76 minute journey!! Dealing with the subjects of global warming, over population, pollution and disregard of other creatures lives as well as our own, this world is going through what many would consider the end times…we are interested in this concept and heres what we think about it…Songs that you will be able to relate with and the diversity and intensity of this album is unmatched these days!! This album was funded by the fans through kickstarter.com and after 2 years of hard work, we unleash DIVERJE’S BEST EFFORT YET!!SPIN IT LOUD, AND STOMP IT HARD!! COVENANT “UNITED STATES OF MIND – PICTURE DISC”
Black Rain will release COVENANT’s “United States of Mind” by the middle of November as an exclusive 12″ picture vinyl edition, stricly limited to 500 numbered copies. This album is often refered to as a masterpiece of electronic music. In contrast to former releases of COVENANT, “United States of Mind” was a dancefloor cult classic and still nowadays, these songs hit the dancefloors. The former very harsh COVENANT sound was replaced by soft and perfectly arranged hymns moving along the borders of DancePop. “United States of Mind” deals with personals issues but also centers around the contradictory diversity of human behaviour as well as Science-Fiction themes. A real cult classic. Released on Black Rain and available November 29th, 2010. PLEASE PRE-ORDER AS WE EXPECT THIS RELEASE TO SELL OUT!!

NUDE “BASIC GUERILLA MOVES”
The NUDE phenomenon began with their pre-album releases “RUFF, RUGGED & RAW” and a classic re-recording of Heaven 17’s 1982 UK hit “Let Me Go” receiving rave reviews. NUDE’s versatility and conscious attempts to avoid labeling and musical comparisons have produced their latest ground breaking album “BASIC GUERILLA MOVES” NUDE band members are comprised of an international line-up with an extraordinarily creative sound design within the electronic music scene, successfully incorporating the very best elements of Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, BigBeat and Electropunk. The results are addictive, adrenaline fuelled pumping beats, hooklines, raucous vocals, wild electronics and a liberal dose of manic Germanics. In the tradition of BASEMENT JAXX, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, NOISIA, UNDERWORLD, FAITHLESS and the PRODIGY, NUDE engulf their fans with “blow yer mind LIVE” gigs. The NUDE album “BASIC GUERILLA MOVES” was born out of those experiences for fans and band alike – bootleg copies of videos of live recordings had spread like wildfire across the net, long before this album materialised. NUDE have warned, the official release will knock your figure huggin’ boots off. NUDE promise “BASIC GUERILLA MOVES” sounds and songs will prove they have little respect for conventional genre specific rules and restrictions. The “BASIC GUERILLA MOVES” album will be available as a digital release and include 14 songs + bonus tracks and secret studio snippets, the results of a 2 year ongoing tour of NUDE DJ GUERILLA and their experiences during their NUDE-LIVE sets. NUDE – the nucleus, NUDE – pure energy, NUDE- innovation, NUDE – the passion. Whether LIVE on stage or CD, NUDE are the missing link:- about to be released upon an unsuspecting, impotent Pop-World. Released on Sabotage-Concept Records and available November 29th, 2010.

VARIOUS “EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN – IBEROAMERIKANISCHES TRIBUT”
October 12 is no ordinary day, nor will it be this year. It was on October 12 that a great clash of civilizations occurred, the discovery of America. As in any confrontation the large flow of consequences was not foreseeable. Some seen as unfortunate, some seen as fruitful, an assimilation of European culture? All versions of History challenge convention and open our eyes to other possibilities for our futures. The great German band, Einsturzende Neubauten , have learned to challenge concepts and to unlearn the conventions of harmony and tonality in their works. Their Unconventional music has been chewed, swallowed, enjoyed and at times even rejected. Convention has imprisoned for years, and still does. It is Music that after so long, is the only bridge that unites us, without any distinctions, distances, dialects or languages. The universal language of this great system of the arts. In this tribute F3nix Lucia, from Chile,  Elegia and FOLIE À DEUX  from Brasil, Lastrax, Plan Quinquenal, J7, Heroina and Arte Disfuncional from  Argentina. Oblique and Vondage from Spain, NIña Terrorista  from Colombia, Porion from France, Die Perlen from Germany, and finally from UK ElectroXcentric (ex-Killing Ophelia). THE DOGMA “BLACK WIDOW”
BLACK WIDOW is the Dogma’s third album release which even excels its two predecessors: melodic anthems such as the opener ‘Dirty Dark Diane’, ‘Lost Forevermore’ with its Billy Idol/’Rebel Yell’-like vibes, the flowing, catchy ‘Gore Gore Girls’ and the slightly elegiac title track have the hearts of melodic rock fans beat faster – while ‘The Bride Is Back’ (an homage to the band’s tenth anniversary) and ‘Faith Of The Leaders’ should go down extremely well with fans of classic 1980s heavy rock.

Naturally, there are those tried-and-tested gothic rock references again – specifically on the dark ‘Eternal Embrace’ with its keyboard arrangements which bring to mind Depeche Mode and ‘The Nature And The Icelander’, which lives off its deep vocals, as well as the impressive gothic duets on the afore-mentioned ‘Eternal Embrace’ and the title track (this time performed by Enrichetta Coli). The Dogma’s musical range has generally become much more colourful than it used to be: while the shouts on ‘Mindfreak’, which are occasionally reminiscent of death metal growls and come close to the likes of In Flames, Dark Tranquillity & Co. in terms of their toughness, the beautiful power ballad, ‘All Alone’, introduced by exquisite piano sequences, brings back memories of Queen.
One reason for this unexpected diversity in their songwriting is probably the fact that Binetti co-composed three songs with Lordi keyboardist Leena “Awa” Peisa – numbers which originally weren’t even intended for BLACK WIDOW: ‘Dirty Dark Diana’, ‘The Faith Of The Leaders’ and ‘All Alone’. “But the other guys insisted that they were included on the album,” says the head guitarist, shrugging his shoulders apologetically. And he expresses pride in his group’s latest release, which was produced by the musicians themselves this time, and mixed and mastered by Siggi Bemm again: “I feel that we’ve recorded a pretty extravagant album which reflects all our influences: from classic melodic metal representatives to legends such as Queen and Depeche Mode, from King Diamond to In Flames and Carcass.”

There can be no doubt: with an album such as BLACK WIDOW up their sleeve, Binetti and his band – recently reinforced by bassist Giacomo Astorri (Haggard) – are perfectly equipped to hold their own in the second decade of the new century and keep up with established luminaries of the genre. What was that music industry rule for that infamous third album again?  “The third is gonna make it or break it!” It’s obvious that there’s definitely a storm brewing for these Italians, thanks to their latest strong, multi-faceted melodic metal release! Released on Drakkar and available December 3rd, 2010.

SILVERLANE “ABOVE THE OTHERS”
It happened around one and a half years ago: drummer Simon Michael caused a stir when he released MY INNER DEMON, the official debut by his band, Silverlane – immediately earning unanimously positive reviews. After all, this was something that nobody would have expected from the percussionist who had made a name for himself as the skinsman of medieval rock act, Subway To Sally: namely that he’d be capable of delivering an offering rich in partly progressively oriented but always melodic epic heavy metal in the tradition of Avantasia, Kamelot, Stratovarius and Gamma Ray. Yet Simon Michael has been indulging in this “hobby” away from Subway To Sally for almost 15 years, in fact that’s how his musical career started: back in 1995, the eleven-year-old (!) founded the band together with his schoolmate Daniel Saffer (bass), brother Chris (guitar, backing vocals) and sister Dodo (keyboards, backing vocals). And it wasn’t before working on his self-produced 2005 recording, LEGENDS OF SAFAR, that the drummer applied for a job with “Sally”, for which he was promptly accepted. Now there’s his second coup, ABOVE THE OTHERS. And again, innovation is the name of the game. The driving opening anthem, marked by symphonic keyboard arrangements, and the subsequent, slightly more rocky, double bass-dominated ‘1789’ superficially offer efficient neck muscle training for headbangers, yet reveal on closer inspection musical intricacies which will have connoisseurs click their tongues.

The pulsating ‘Last Day On Earth’, on the other hand, impresses with its irresistible midtempo groove which mercilessly drills its way into its listeners’ aural tracts, culminating in a catchy sing-along chorus part, its demonic atmospheres forging an arch to early Rainbow and Dio (R.I.P.!). ‘Fallen Angel’ initially fascinates with sinister staccato riffing in the vein of acts such as Rammstein, which dissolves in an anthemnic chorus that automatically has the audiences punch the air and shake their manes. ‘Anything’ is marked by voluminous arrangements and massive orchestrations and proves that not only prog rock protagonists such as Blind Guardian are capable of fusing orchestral sounds with those of a metal band in a compact and organic style.

The core of the album, however, is the four-part opus, ‘The White Lady’, based on the legend of the White Lady – a ghost reputed to have haunted the castles of several noble families in Europe – and featuring the whole range of musical facets which discerning listeners have come to expect of contemporary, melodic and powerful heavy metal: emotional, melancholy-spherical sounds as featured on the first part, ‘A Ghost Appears’, clarion-like melody parts (Part II: ‘Golden Needle’), bombastic orchestrations (Part III: ‘Between The Trees’) and powerful, monumental, almost threateningly doom-laden heavy rock (Part IV: ‘Days Of Sorrow’). “It’s almost local history”, says Simon Michael proudly of his first mini-opus, perhaps – without dismissing the other tracks – the best offerings to date by the drummer and his band. “The earliest reports about sightings of this female ghost date back to the 15th century and stem from the German Plassenburg ob Kulmbach – very close to where I live.”
Yet the lyrical focus of ABOVE THE OTHERS is marked by another theme: “A few months ago,” says Michael, “I sadly lost my best friend. A number of songs on the subject of suicide were conceived more or less under the impression of this tragedy: ‘Last Day On Earth’, ‘Dark Side In You’, ‘Anything’.” Something else moved Simon Michael and his bandmates during the past months – something which influenced the album title: “‘Above The Others’ sees us express defiantly and self-confidently that we don’t care if some critics superficially label us as Helloween, Gamma Ray or HammerFall clones. I like the attitude contained in the statement “cause today we stand above the others”. That’s why we have unanimously chosen this quote as the battle call of our second recording!”

A recording which sparkles with the duo Uli Holzmer/Chris Alexander’s breathtaking guitar attacks. And at the same time a recording which is a product of real teamwork in which each band member participated on an equal footing. “Every one of us,” says Michael in closing, “contributed at least one song to the album – so looking at it from that angle, we may be the most democratic band of the whole heavy metal genre!” And definitely the most compact: in contrast to recordings by many of their colleagues, it’s impossible to make out different standards in the songs. On the contrary: ABOVE THE OTHERS operates at an amazingly high musical level – from the first to the very last second! Released on Drakkar and available December 3rd, 2010
