THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE is on PINS AND NEEDLES!!!

THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE “PINS AND NEEDLES”

Combining their interests in various musical and artistic styles, the The Birthday Massacre creates a captivating hybrid of 80’s electronica and aggressive guitars, curiously fused with cinematically dark melodic progressions. With the new album entitled Pins And Needles, The Birthday Massacre further refines the unique sound explored on the bands highly acclaimed previous albums: Walking With Strangers, Violet, and the classic debut Nothing and Nowhere. From the opening notes of the lead off track “In The Dark” to the closing chimes of “Secret”, it is evident that Pins And Needles is The Birthday Massacre at its collective best. The interplay of driving guitar and rhythm sections, the captivating vocals, and atmospheric keyboards envelop listener. With Pins And Needles, The Birthday Massacre once again lead us down the rabbit hole, and once again invite us the explore the magical wonderland it has created. FUNKER VOGT “ARISING HERO”
Completing what began in 1998 with the single Tragic Hero followed by the CD Fallen Hero in 2005, Arising Hero is the third and final part of the trilogy. The Hero saga is a sort of first person perspective tale about an unnamed soldier fighting an unknown war. Part one found him observing the sorrow and destruction around him. The second chapter found him called to arms once again seemingly resigned to face his fate in the face of an overwhelming enemy. Finally, 12 years after the start of the hero saga Funker Vogt tells the final fate of the Hero character. Will he find peace, redemption? The Arising Hero single features six distinctive takes on the song, including remixes by Rotersand, Faderhead and Komor Kommando as well as a b-side. ATTENTION SYSTEM “WAIT FOR MY SIGNAL”
ATTENTION SYSTEM is an electro act from Atlanta / USA, that names as main influences the ‘obvious’ acts that come in mind when listening to electrom, such as: VNV Nation, Covenant, Combichrist, Icon of Coil, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, Apoptygma Berzerk etc., but also less ‘obvious’ influences from acts such as The Cure, Clan of Xymox, Laibach, Daft Punk, Jean-Michel Jarre and others! The first time ATTENTION SYSTEM sat down together with their instruments in the summer of 2008, they had one common goal in mind: to write music that would make people dance. With darkwave and punk at their core, Brian Fisher (vocals, keys), Joshua Broughton (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Davis (guitar), Chris Edmonds (bass) and Jason Curtis (drums) were ready for something new. Dabbling in the world of electronics, they´ve managed to fuse ´80s synth pop ith their darker undertones – and they´ve created what they only half-jokingly like to call “a rock band who´s mugged an electronica band and s digging through a stolen, dirty pair of pants for extra synth lines.” They´ve been compared to countless other electro acts, but Attention System´s music packs a heavier punch while remaining highly danceable. In 2008 ATTENTION SYSTEM independently released a self produced EP which earned the band generous local and regional radio airplay, plus a (US-) nationally televised commercial for the DIY Network. In just over a year the band has gone from unknown local act to headlining packed weekend shows in Atlanta´s notorious underground rock and dance venues. Their live shows have generated citywide buzz, landing them numerous opening slots for national acts and the Readers Choice Award for Best New Music Act in The Creative Loafing’s Best Of Atlanta 2009 edition. Released on PaterNoster and available July 9th, 2010.

UMBRA ET IMAGO “OPUS MAGNUS”
They took the breath of both the music world and the media away for more than two decades: Umbra Et Imago from Karlsruhe is a trendsetter in many aspects. As the first group ever, founding member Mozart’s band performed a spectacular as well as artistic S&M show. Mozart himself became the figurehead of a subculture that made waves far beyond the reaches of the gothic scene. Thanks to his duet with female boxing world champion Regina Halmich (“Schlag Mich”), he caused an uproar in the popular press. With “Opus Magnus”, the band’s final hour has come. At least as far as the production of records is concerned – the group will continue to perform live. With the ginger liqueur manufacturer “Dracula”, a suitable cooperation partner was found for the grand finale. Released on Kussy Frosch and available July 9th, 2010.

AKTIVE.HATE “IN TERROREM”
Another great newcomer on our label and also one more great debut. This time from Portugal. Near two years after releasing his debut web-free release and one year after putting off his second demo record, Alex mr. ISK (electrobrain behind the project Aktive.Hate) is on the air again with 15 fresh unreleased songs. His first physical debut outfit “In Terrorem” demonstrates the deep potential and talent in all synthpop and dark-electro genres. Aktive.Hate is one of the most interesting acts among the young breeds of electro-scene. Created in 2007 to explore a slightly different vein of sound, Aktive.Hate evolved into a presence of it’s own, slowly defining itself as more than just a secondary offshoot. Dealing with both hate and love, pain and pleasure, this music strives to touch all the spektrum of human feelings. Dirty, dark, and vicious. Hurtful, sorrowful and hateful.
