Welcome to our weekly round-up of forthcoming releases. There’s lots of really good releases this week, as hopefully we’re all enjoying the sunshine. Best of luck to our Dutch and Spanish customers for tonight’s game too!!
ROTERSAND, the artful electro architects, lift “Waiting To Be Born”, one of the most emotional songs from “Random Is Resistance”. The track has been carefully reworked resulting in nothing less than a futurepop classic! There are also three exclusive tracks only available on this EP, a cover version of “A Strange Kind of Love”, the intensely pulsating “All These Moments”‘ and the moving ballad “Wasted Wings”. “Waiting To Be Born” shows how diversified electronic music can – and should – be! Limited to 2,000 copies, so move quickly, and also available with a T-shirt as a limited collectors set.
Toronto-based THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE create a captivating hybrid of 80s electronica and aggressive guitars, curiously fused with cinematically dark melodic progressions. With the new album entitled “Pins and Needles”, the band further refine the unique sound explored on their highly-acclaimed previous albums. “Pins and Needles” promises to be a harder and darker experience than all previous albums, contrasted by the shining melodic vocals of lead singer Chibi.
Classics on vinyl! The 1996 APOPTYGMA BERZERK jewel “7” will be released as a picture LP, strictly limited to 500 hand-numbered copies. A classic hit album featuring all the famous tracks like “Love Never Dies”, “Deep Red” and “Non-Stop Violence”, which rocked the dancefloors back in 1996. Now it is time to honour this musical masterpiece with a new face in vinyl.
Back in 2007, ASHBURY HEIGHTS emerged like a shooting star out of nowhere onto the synthpop scene. On their lively and anthemic debut “Three Cheers for the Newlydeads”, the young Swedish duo fused the super-cool catchiness of the 80s with a solid dose of disco-pep, teenage angst and rebellious attitude. On “Morningstar in a Black Car”, released one year later, ASHBURY HEIGHTS spiced up their trademark sound with a more mature note. The anthology “Origins” combines both previous releases with one unreleased bonus song on two CDs.
Originally released by FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY in 1999 to accompany the “Implode” album, “Explosion” collects four long-deleted singles: “Circuitry” (1995), “Plasticity” (1996), “Colombian Necktie” (1997) and “Comatose” (1998) for a total of twelve tracks – all exclusive to these singles or in exclusive remixes!
Finally one of the most requested and highly anticipated albums of 2010 is here – “Trialogue” from CODE 64. A fourteen-track electronic journey filled with catchy, danceable melodies with forceful vocals above them. One of the strongest electropop albums for years!
SPIRITUAL FRONT is back: on the brand new album “Rotten Roma Casino” the charismatic Italian heartbreaker Simone Salvatore’s band once again define that which they have shaped like no other: ‘suicide pop’. Melancholy melodies, stirring guitar chords, emotional vocals and yearning string passages, but also solid-groove beats and macabre phrases. This strictly limited special first edition includes the CD, bonus DVD, a special Leporello fold-out booklet. Limited to 1,999 copies worldwide, and also available as a limited collectors set with T-shirt.
ROME are about emotive songs that are both catchy and disturbed. These songs awaken memories of love and death, with reoccurring themes of despair and loss, guilt and grief, might and war. The much demanded re-release of “Berlin” comes in a very appealing digipak, along with a limited collectors set with a T-shirt (also available separately).
With “Retro”, IN MY ROSARY close the circle, eighteen years after their formation. Having tried all possible variations of their concept in the past, Ralf Jesek and Dirk Lakomy now return to their origins with this album. “Retro” displays a lot of courage and delivers probably the most varied and interesting album thus far.
Only a very short time after the release of their highly successful debut album “Lib. 1”, the MERCIFUL NUNS follow up with the “Body of Light” EP. The songwriting and production, despite the apparent retro influences, sound refreshingly contemporary and prove that Gothic 2010 does not have to sound antiquated or out of date. Limited to 2,000 copies.
“Danvers State Hospital – Beyond Mental Illness” is the debut album by ENDLESS ASYLUM, a new solo project of Sathorys Elenorth (DER BLAUER REITER, NARSILION, LUGBURZ). Obscure schizophrenic ambient inspired in the lunatic asylum “Danvers State Hospital”.
The official “Amphi Festival 2010” compilation sports a representative cross-section of the most important groups performing this year with their most recent hits and club-compatible remixes, including BLUTENGEL, COMBICHRIST, AND ONE, ASP, ASHBURY HEIGHTS, EISBRECHER, DIARY OF DREAMS, SKINNY PUPPY, SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS and many more.
And finally, DEATHWATCH ASIA have more super-limited luxurious Japanese special editions – NOISUF-X’s “Excessive Exposure”, FREAKANGEL’s “The Faults of Humanity + The Deviations of Divinity”, SHIV-R’s “Hold My Hand” and MENSCHDEFEKT’s “The Human Parasite”.
Gigs

| Rotersand | Waiting To Be Born | £10.00 | ||
![]() |
Review August 2009: with “War on Error”, ROTERSAND delivered the first foretaste of the global resistance movement they were about to establish and which they spread with their groundbreaking electronic manifesto “Random Is Resistance” in October 2009. The most danceable resistance of all times. September 2010: thirteen months later, the artful electro architects lift “Waiting To Be Born”, one of the most emotional songs from “Random Is Resistance”, thereby adding more fuel to the fire of their heated campaign against uniform thinking and the global sellout of identity. Already a capital hymn lacking neither forceful beats nor elegiac melodies in its original version, the track has been carefully reworked resulting in nothing less than a futurepop classic for eternity! There are also three exclusive tracks only available on this EP which elevate “Waiting To Be Born” far above the standard of an in itself worthy remix collection: a cover version of “A Strange Kind of Love”, bowing deeply to PETER MURPHY’s original despite a thoroughly independent club attitude; the intensely pulsating “All These Moments”; and the moving ballad “Wasted Wings”. Again, these three songs display ROTERSAND’s immense artistic bandwidth, auniquely diverse mixture of industrial pop, EBM, trance and mature songwriting, convincing with emotional depth as well as virtuouso design. In addition, we find the monumental wide screen mix of “First Time” by [:SITD:], the insanely whipping, energized IVARDENSPHERE remix of “War On Error” and the treacherous dub monster that crept out of “If You Don’t Stop It”, between them documenting the impressive range of ideas and the impulsive force with which ROTERSAND enrich the electro cosmos. 50 minutes, nine tracks, one superbly mastered task: massive, club-compatible electro lacking neither lyrical content nor musical sophistication. “Waiting To Be Born” shows how diversified electronic music can – and should – be! With exclusive artwork and a voluminous booklet, this collector’s item with its strict limitation of 2000 copies is sure to become an exclusive enrichment of every electro collection. Review THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE are the leading lights of the new generation of dark electronic bands (no spooky kid is complete without owning all their albums). The Toronto-based synth rock band create a captivating hybrid of 80s electronica and aggressive guitars, curiously fused with cinematically dark melodic progressions. With the new album entitled “Pins and Needles”, THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE further refine the unique sound explored on their highly-acclaimed previous albums “Walking with Strangers”, “Violet”, and the classic debut “Nothing and Nowhere”. From the opening notes of the lead track “In the Dark” to the closing chimes of “Secret”, it is evident that “Pins and Needles” is THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE at their collective best. The interplay of driving guitar and rhythm sections, the captivating vocals and atmospheric keyboards envelop the listener. “Pins and Needles”, mixed by David Ogilvie (producer of SKINNY PUPPY, MARILYN MANSON, KILLING JOKE), promises to be a harder and darker experience than all previous albums, contrasted by the shining melodic vocals of lead singer Chibi. Review Every saga has a beginning! Back in 2007, ASHBURY HEIGHTS emerged like a shooting star out of nowhere onto the synthpop scene. On their lively and anthemic debut “Three Cheers for the Newlydeads”, the young Swedish duo fused the super-cool catchiness of the 80s with a solid dose of disco-pep, teenage angst and rebellious attitude to create one of the most interesting works of contemporary electronic pop music of recent years. On their second mini-album “Morningstar in a Black Car”, released one year later, ASHBURY HEIGHTS spiced up their trademark sound with a more mature note and thus established themselves as one of the most important acts of the new electro-pop-wave. Coinciding with the release of their new long player “Take Cair Paramour”, the anthology “Origins” combines both previous releases with one unreleased bonus song on two CDs. | Code 64 | Trialogue | £12.25
![]() |
Review Finally one of the most requested and highly anticipated albums of 2010 is here. Code 64, “Trialogue”. Bjørn Marius Borg, Christian Espeland and Hans-Olof Mattsson, better known to the world as the Swedish/Norwegian trio CODE 64 are finally back with their long-awaited new album “Trialogue”. After the departure of the old singer Henrik Piehl (shortly after their last album “Departure”) the band have worked harder than ever in the studio with new vocalist Bjørn Marius Borg taking Henrik’s place. And their efforts have certainly paid off. “Trialogue” is a fourteen-track electronic journey filled with brilliant and strong pieces. Catchy, danceable melodies with Bjørn’s forceful vocals above them for place CODE 64 among the top artists within the electronic scene. The first (digital only) single off the album (“Stasis”) climbed to the top of several alternative charts in April/May when it was released. If you like acts like VNV NATION, SEABOUND, MIND.IN.A.BOX, MESH and IRIS, you will not be disappointed with this album. One of the strongest electropop albums for years! Released on the quality Swedish label Progress Productions, whose slogan “Quality before quantity” has been proven time and time again. And “Trialogue” is NO exception from this high standard. | Spiritual Front | Rotten Roma Casino | £19.75
![]() |
Review The ‘Armageddon Gigolo’ is back: on the brand new album “Rotten Roma Casino” the charismatic Italian heartbreaker Simone Salvatore’s band once again define that which they have shaped like no other: ‘suicide pop’. That is to say melancholy melodies, stirring guitar chords, emotional vocals and yearning string passages, but also solid-groove beats and macabre phrases. Just as the recipe which singled-handedly defined the genre was fully finalised on “Armageddon Gigolo”, “Rotten Roma Casino” goes a decisive step further. SPIRITUAL FRONT once more summoned together the proven ensemble featuring chamber musicians associated with ENNIO MORRICONE and created a whole series of musical gems which you can’t get out of your head after just a single hearing. As per the title, it’s about Rome – a metaphorical, decadent Rome however, a parallel to the Roma of Fellini, full of wonder, monstrosities and passions. The album pays homage to the orgiastic, wild and ambiguous, particularly on the intense videoclips that are featured on the accompanying bonus DVD, conjuring up the immortal spirit of Rainer Werner Fassbinder. The doleful “Sad Almost a Winner” orientates itself towards his homoerotic melodrama “Fox and his Friends”, while the clip for “Darkroom Friendship” pays homage to the promiscuous bisexual passion of frontman Salvatori. Shimmering skin in the twilight – ‘a friendship made of flesh and lust’. Salvatori acknowledges that without Fassbinder’s controversial ‘sex and death’ drama “Querelle”, he probably wouldn’t have founded SPIRITUAL FRONT. To all this are added harmonies which seem to derive from the legendary creators of film music, Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. SPIRITUAL FRONT carry their unmistakeable Italian spirit into the post-modern, consciously shaking off their underground roots in order to invent their own unique variety of morbid folk-pop which blends indie rock, acoustic chords and tango into a new, intense and above all heartrending, genuine mixture. In a varied sequence of romantic, vibrant, cynical, sad and occasionally gruesome ballads, we dive into the their incomparable world. “Rotten Roma Casino” is fresh and original but at the same time a mature and majestic musical work, without compromise yet catchy; slightly sweet yet disturbing. In any case a worthy redemption of the promise which “Armageddon Gigolo” once gave. Suicide pop in its purest form… This strictly limited special first edition includes the CD in an eight-panel digipak, bonus DVD, a special Leporello fold-out booklet with precious art prints on high-quality paper including all lyrics and exclusive photos and a fold-out poster. Limited to 1,999 copies worldwide. Format Tracklisting Disc 2 – DVD:- Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Rome | Berlin | £10.00 | ||
![]() |
Review The surprising new stars on the apocalyptic folk scene sprout from the punk and sing-songwriter genres, and have now combined these attitudes with a sombre and experimental martial folk influcence to give a strong personal imprint. ROME are about emotive songs that are both catchy and disturbed. These songs awaken memories of love and death, with reoccurring themes of despair and loss, guilt and grief, might and war. With the cynical opening line “Once we learned to speak we learned to fail”, the band set a grand colour to this exquisite candy piece of six exclusive songs. This much demanded re-release of “Berlin” comes in a very appealing digipak. The first edition of this debut mini-album has long been sold out since its release in 2006, but Trisol are finally making it available again. Due to Jerome’s constant changes of address during the CMI-years, some of the original artwork files have been lost to time. However, the artwork has been restored or partially re-invented, and in some places even enhanced, including a booklet containing all lyrics and additional photographs. Description For the first time ever, Trisol are offering the opportunity to buy a band t-shirt without having to buy the actual release as well. The reason for this is simple: ROME’s “Berlin” MCD is a re-release and Trisol did not want to push you to buy the complete set when all you might want is the t-shirt. This t-shirt is a little more expensive than previous t-shirts from Trisol, but the price reflects a higher quality of product. Trisol chose the best there is on the market. This is not your average black T-shirt, but a dark brown one with light brown print. Trisol believes this rather nostalgic look fits ROME’s debut MCD perfectly. To top it off, the ROME logo on the front is made in an elaborate 3D-print. The front of the shirt also bears the slogan “DIES IST KEINE RICHTUNG – NUR REINE BEWEGUNG” (this is no direction – just pure movement), and on the reverse “BEWEGUNG ENTSTEHT DURCH HALTUNG” (the source of movement is composure). | In My Rosary | Retro | £14.50
![]() |
Review With “Retro”, IN MY ROSARY close the circle, eighteen years after their formation. Having tried all possible variations on their IMR concept in the past, Ralf Jesek and Dirk Lakomy now return to their origins with this album. “Pathetically speaking, and after trying out the boundaries of our concept, it was simply time to turn back to our ‘radical’ roots. No compromises!” IMR thus returned to their original way of working: all the demos were written with only vocals, guitars and a four-track recorder – and this ‘stipped down’ concept can also be found on the final recordings, on which the band limited their equiment to a stereo-rhythm machine, two keyboards and a few guitars. “Retro” is therefore the result of an experiment, a ‘looking back to our roots’ for IMR. Another novelty is the fact that on this album the two musicians worked with a large number of guests including SARA NOXX, CHRISTIAN DOERGE and STAN_I (from the Russian gothic band STILLIFE) on vocals, while the English psychpop guru PAUL ROLAND honoured the band with his first ever guitar solo. Other guests are Marlene Wagner of LAKOBEIL, Wolfgang Koch of the German goth rockers TORS OF DARTMOOR, Tobias Birkenbeil (ex-DRACUL) and Martin von Arndt of the German avantgarde/goth legends PRINTED AT BISMARCK’S DEATH. With “Retro”, IN MY ROSARY display a lot of courage and deliver probably the most varied and interesting album thus far in their eighteen years of history! | Merciful Nuns | Body of Light EP | £13.00
![]() |
Review Only a very short time after the release of their highly successful debut album “Lib. 1”, GARDEN OF DELIGHT’s only legitimate successor follow up with the “Body of Light” EP, seamlessly continuing where the debut album left off. MERCIFUL NUNS epitomise the goth genre more than most bands over the last decade and it can be said without a hint of exaggeration that here we finally find music that lives up to the expectations raised by the Sisters of Mercy’s “First and Last and Always”. The songwriting and production, despite the apparent retro influences sound refreshingly contemporary and prove that Gothic 2010 does not have to sound antiquated or out of date. Songs like “Body of Light” and “Morphine Queen” are gloomy goth anthems par excellence and convey the feeling of a new dawn rising over musical shores which, it is hoped, will not only attract the generations of yesteryear but also find favour amongst those enthusiasts of dark and gloomy melodies who thus far perceive gothic as a purely electronic genre. This limited six-panel digipak edition is strictly limited to 2000 copies. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Endless Asylum | Danvers State Hospital – Beyond Mental Illness | £12.25 | ||

Review Caustic Records presents yet another great discovery: ENDLESS ASYLUM – currently on tour throughout Europe with Swedish act SOPHIA. This is the debut album by a new solo project of Sathorys Elenorth (DER BLAUER REITER, NARSILION, LUGBURZ). Obscure schizophrenic ambient inspired in the lunatic asylum “Danvers State Hospital”. A dark journey across the insane human mind, exploring claustrophobic passages beyond the blackened side of the death. Maybe you can cross the gates of insanity, but if you do, you will never be able to return! The CD also features a very gloomy and frightening videoclip for the track “Schizophrenia”. | Noisuf-X | Excessive Exposure [Japanese Limited Edition] | £16.50
![]() |
Review “Excessive Exposure” is the brilliant and punchy new album from one of the best and biggest acts on the industrial scene today: NOISUF-X. Starting in 2005 with the debut album “Antipode”, NOISUF-X began as a side-project of the EBM act X-FUSION, but over the last five years the project has emerged as a powerful musical force in its own right, with the aggressive albums “The Beauty Of Destruction” (2007) and most recently “Voodoo Ritual” (2009). Over the past few years, NOISUF-X have appeared live at many of the largest industrial and alternative music festivals all over the world, including Amphi (Germany), Infest (UK), Necropolis (Mexico), Kinetik (Canada), Dark Area (Germany), Gothic (Belgium), Summer Darkness (Netherlands), alongside acts such as COMBICHRIST, KMFDM, VNV NATION, AND ONE and DIARY OF DREAMS. In 2010, NOISUF-X will appear at the DV8 Festival (UK) and Castle Party (Poland). Jan’s production skills as an audio engineer are among the most sought-after in the industrial scene: his resume makes impressive reading, having mixed and mastered multiple albums by SUICIDE COMMANDO, ALIEN VAMPIRES and C-LEKKTOR, and mastered countless albums including HEIMATAERDE, SAM, [:SITD:], XOTOX and X MARKS THE PEDWALK. For DWA alone, Jan has mastered the “Infacted Asia” compilation, C-LEKKTOR’s “Tendencias Suicidas”, CEDIGEST’s “Falling in the Spirit”, MENSCHDEFEKT’s “The Human Parasite”, FREAKANGEL’s “The Faults of Humanity” and the bonus tracks for AESTHETIC PERFECTION’s “A Violent Emotion” and GRENDEL’s “Chemicals + Circuitry”. Under the NOISUF-X name, Jan has also produced a huge number of remixes for acts such as UNTER NULL, SOMAN, SIVA SIX, NACHTMAHR, PROJECT PITCHFORK and SUICIDE COMMANDO. The Japanese Limited Edition release of “Excessive Exposure” includes two bonus tracks taken from the ProNoize European 2CD boxset, featuring lyrics and guest vocals from fellow industrial scene legends Johan van Roy (SUICIDE COMMANDO) and Peter Spilles (PROJECT PITCHFORK). The first 100 units only are presented in a six-panel digipak format, with artwork redesigned by DWA from Jan’s own original designs. The red and grey colour-scheme has been replaced with a cold blue, reflecting the album title! The redesigned booklet includes lyrics from the bonus tracks, also written by Peter Spilles and Johan van Roy. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Freakangel | The Faults of Humanity + The Deviations of Divinity [Japanese Limited Edition] | £24.75 | ||

Review Here comes another beautiful collaboration release between Alfa Matrix and the Asian label Deathwatch Asia! | Shiv-r | Hold My Hand [Japanese Limited Edition] | £16.50
![]() |
Review Already known in Japan for their remixes of BLOOD and GPKISM, Australian duo SHIV-R are a new force in the field of dark electronic music. DWA’s Japanese Limited Edition of the debut album “Hold My Hand” features four previously unreleased exclusive bonus tracks, including specially commissioned remixes from DWA/Infacted labelmates XP8, REAPER and SOMAN, as well as the original track “Clear Thoughts”. SHIV-R’s work is defined by haunting, neo-classical melodies fused with harsh percussive club sounds and eerie synth textures: ‘industrial analogue darkness’! In contrast to the distorted vocals favoured by many dark electro acts, SHIV-R employ clean and powerful male vocals reminiscent of KILLING JOKE, delivered in shouts and whispers. The dark and unsettling atmosphere generated by the band is at times intended for clubs, and at times drawn out at a slow, grinding pace for full dramatic impact. Although “Hold My Hand” is a debut album, the two members of the band have in fact been actively collaborating with each other on music for almost ten years and have already built up an impressive discography prior to starting SHIV-R. Lee Bulig’s previous projects include STARK and NEON WOMB, while Pete Crane was behind THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT and PLAGUE SEQUENCE. Additionally, though still a new artist, SHIV-R’s powerful production style has already led to heavy demand for their remixing skills. Their most recent remixes include X-DIVIDE, XP8 and UNTER NULL. The first 100 units of the Japanese Limited Edition are presented in six-panel digipak format, with artwork redesigned by DWA from the stunning photography of Matthew Burgess and original designs of renowned industrial music graphic artist UserDX. | Menschdefekt | The Human Parasite [Japanese Limited Edition] | £16.50
![]() |
Review Already familiar to followers of DWA from their remix of AESTHETIC PERFECTION’s “Schadenfreude”, MENSCHDEFEKT are the new European messiahs of harsh EBM. Their official debut “The Human Parasite” is a strong contender for harsh EBM album of the year: relentlessly brutal beats and violently distorted vocals, mastered by the legendary Jan L of NOISUF-X/X-FUSION. On the artwork front, MENSCHDEFEKT’s savage vision of a parasitic human society is perfectly illustrated by top industrial designer UserDX (HOCICO, SOMAN, ICON OF COIL, GRENDEL). First started as a solo project by German programmer Dominik R, MENSCHDEFEKT self-released several instrumental albums before winning a remix competition for AESTHETIC PERFECTION in 2008, after which MENSCHDEFEKT’s public profile swiftly soared. In 2009 MENSCHDEFEKT became a duo, with the addition of Swedish vocalist and lyricist Fredrik C. The track “Stalingrad” was soon featured on the popular compilations “Interbreeding X” (BLC Productions) and “Endzeit Bunkertracks: Act IV” (Alfa Matrix), and quickly began to receive heavy club play around the world, bringing MENSCHDEFEKT to the attention of both DWA and Infacted Recordings, who released the European version of this album. In addition to twelve tracks taken from the standard European and US editions, DWA’s Japanese Limited Edition of “The Human Parasite” also features specially-commissioned remixes from ACYLUM, FGFC820, C-LEKKTOR, and ES23 making an incredible value 79-minute CD. The first 100 copies of DWA’s Japanese Limited Edition come in collector’s six-panel digipak redesigned from UserDX’s original artwork. | End.User | Left [Re-Issue] | £13.25
![]() |
Review END.USER is one of the cornerstones of the modern eclectic electronic music. Support from BBC Radio’s Mary Anne Hobbs and a list of DJs too long to fit on a one-sheet, from many different genres, and releases across many platforms have built him into a juggernaut. A usually prolific artist, having recorded for Hymen, Ad Noiseam, Sublight, Cargo, and many others, he took 2007 off, working on something very special – his debut album on Ohm Resistance. Having relocated to San Francisco, a new lease in his creative power was demonstrated adroitly over the entire album, which shows the greatest range of any album in END.USER’s career to date. Intensely personal, intensely musical, and just plain INTENSE at points, the album showcases a spectacular array of skills across the board. From radio play material (“Black Light”) with Aussie vocalist Sol Thomas, to collaborations with and remixes by influential electronic acts SCORN and COUNTERSTRIKE, to absolutely stunning, no boundaries drum’n’bass, the album is diverse and full of powerful compositions. Compelling from start to finish, “Left” was the culmination of more than a year’s work. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Nordvargr / Surachai | A Wilderness of Cloades | £15.25 | ||

Review What began as a mutual correspondence turned into an immediate respect and eventually a sickness and obsession that resulted in this album. The two artists, NORDVARGR who hails from the depths of Sweden’s wintered wastelands, and SURACHAI from the frozen concrete jungles of Chicago, explored new sonic territory and claimed them as their own. Their shared knowledge of process and inspiration gave way to a smothering environment populated by long shadows and empty cities. While others sleep and hibernate, the one’s haunting dreams weave on the sunless winter days. Special limited numbered edition of 300 copies. | Lyronian | Hope and Veneration | £9.75

Review Imagine a CD compilation based on one central theme, filled with only exclusive tracks and featuring bands of all types – famous, unsigned, infamous, newcomers. That is precisely the concept Machineries of Joy applied in 2006 when releasing the highly praised (now deleted) “Hymns of Steel” compilation. As a follow up to this unique concept, the listener is now immersed into a sleazy world, loaded with SM and slavery, pain and perversity, seedy fantasies and p*rnography… Welcome to the “Hymns of Sex”! The CD presents a solid set of 19 bands from the US over Portugal to Norway, offering you a glimpse into their wildest, most sexxual fantasies and ‘aural’ excesses. Prepare to get dragged into a broad range of alternative electronics from 80s typed new wave and modern EBM to advanced electronics. Nothing seems to make this erotic story ‘cum’ to an end. Get set and let your wildest fantasies loose on this sexy marvel, where the obvious ‘Parental Advisory’ tags no longer seem to have any effect. | Kirlian Camera | Not of This World | £23.50

Review It is most unnecessary to speak about KIRLIAN CAMERA’s standing within the gothic scene. For an impressive three decades now, the Italian project has delivered somber electronic sound odysseys far removed from any current pattern or trends. Always deeply atmospheric, always unique, always characteristic: from the legendary mini album “Kirlian Camera” (1981) to their most recent studio work “Coroner’s Sun” (2006) and the ultimate compendium “Odyssey Europa” (2010), an artistic vision somewhere between epic otherworldly darkness and passionate emotion has always marked the centre of this band. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this influential legend, “Not of This World” celebrates this event with the most thorough retrospective so far, fulfilling every fan’s wish and answering every unasked question concerning the band’s eventful career. An impressive array of 35 tracks stretches out across three CDs, assembling lots of previously unreleased tracks, long-forgotten gems, rare live versions and sought-after remixes into the most comprehensive compilation of its kind. Regular ‘best of’ releases do not even come near this brimful treasure chest. Sounds “Not of This World”: From Angelo Bergamini’s first experimental attempts in the eighties, when he created sheer electronic wonders despite the restricted technological possibilities, to the still current era with the long-legged vocal talent Elena Fossi by his side, this triple box set consistently traces a pathway that often made the band somewhat controversial, but which sprang from the most urgent will of artistic realization. The easy way was never an option for KIRLIAN CAMERA – and “Not of This World” proves just how thankful electronic music should be for that. Clothed in a DVD-sized digipak with a numbered case and precious silver hotfoil printing, the extensive booklet also lives up to the standard set by this overflowing release, offering uncountable previously unreleased pictures printed on exquisite paper. Strictly limited to 3000 copies worldwide, and sure to be out of print in no time. Order quickly! Format Tracklisting Disc 2:- Disc 3:- Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review The most promising Swedish electro pop newcomers return! On “Take Cair Paramour”, ASHBURY HEIGHTS shine with a distinctly matured vision of the ‘New Wave 2.0’ sound. The duo spices up those breezy beats and melodies that defined 80s electronic pop music with a lot of timely low end ‘oomph’, a pinch of fucked-up zeitgeist, the androgynous sex-appeal of Bowie and his lot and a healthy dose of teenage angst and rebellion, graced with a compact and airtight mix by sound wizard John Fryer. “Take Cair Paramour” has become a feast of catchy tunes with elaborate arrangements, thrilling male/female alternations and a perfect balance of pathos and pop. The two Swedes do not write mere songs – ASHBURY HEIGHTS are writing anthems! The first pressing comes with a bonus disc that contains exclusive, unreleased songs, alternative versions and remixes. Review First all-new studio album in years (the previous “Motus Animi” was released in 2005) by the German SM/gothic formation UMBRA ET IMAGO (Latin for ‘Shadow and Image’) and declared to be their last album EVER (as the band plan to concentrate on their live activities, and will continue to tour in the future). UMBRA ET IMAGO were formed in 1991 and initially, as evidenced by their first two albums, were a genuine dark electro wave goth band. They then evolved into a gothic metal/Neue Deutsche Härte band. In picking up Sigmund Freud’s idea that sexuality was the centre of our being they processed sadomasochistic fantasies through their cynical lyrics. The band is famous for incorporating BDSM acts and complex pyrotechnics into their live shows. Band leader Mozart has subsequently reached the status of the undiscussed leader of a SM subculture in Germany, far across the borders of the ‘gothic’ scene. Recently he got much attention in the popular mainstream press thanks to a duet with boxing world champion Regina Halmich. With “Opus Magnus” the band delivers another album of ‘classic’ goth, SM, and dark metal attitude in twelve new songs, including the (digital only) single “Ohne Dich”. | Goethes Erben | Zeitlupe | £18.00

Review To do proper justice to a group like GOETHES ERBEN would require an entire songbook of praising anthems. Founded in 1989, the early nineties saw the project evolve to become a figurehead of the juvenile German gothic movement, a project that would eventually mould the scene like very few before. >From the very first nebulous GOETHES ERBEN live performance on April 25th 1990, in a youth centre somewhere in Germany, to the passionately revered debut “Das Sterben Ist Ästhetisch Bunt”, right up to the dramatic musical theatre of the young 21st century, Oswald Henke has defined German gothic with his characteristically poetic lyrics, and given a whole scene its identity by means of his soulful musical expression. The essential double album “Zeitlupe” pays long overdue tribute to this outstanding band. A monument of German gothic culture, it assembles not only the most popular tracks but also unavailable rarities, sought-after gems and alternate versions aplenty. Neither “Das Ende” nor cult classics like “Zinnsoldaten”, “Marionetten” and “Der Eissturm” are left out of this 29-track retrospective of the band’s extraordinary career. True worshippers of the “Neue Deutsche Todeskunst” alongside LACRIMOSA in the first chapters of their artistic legacy, GOETHES ERBEN were deeply rooted within a musical sphere of bizarre suicidal philosophy, depressive melodies and morbid lyrics. In the years to come, Oswald Henke constantly reinvented his expression and interweaved alien influences as well as ever more elaborate visual transcriptions of his tunes. Inseparably connected to GOETHES ERBEN until their hiatus in 2007 was the highest artistic standard imaginable paired with an unmistakably theatrical attitude – both pillars of a career encompassing more than two decades. The abundant digipak booklet also pays tribute to this era by delivering exclusive background information on these 20 years as well as liner-notes written by Oswald Henke himself to revive every stage of his career. “Zeitlupe” – a memorial of German Gothic music. | Das Praparat | Unschuldsblicke | £12.00

Review The project DAS PRÄPARAT was given life by Dr Hyde in 2001. With the album “THX LD50” they proved their intention to develop along a different path from their beginning with WELLE:ERDBALL. The new album “Unschuldsblicke” impressively demonstrates the project’s maturation into a distinct style, sticking to the combination of electro and classic piano themes but also adding further elements of cabaret and jazz. With “Unschuldsblicke” DAS PRÄPARAT deliver a very multi-faceted record. Containing lyrics about paedophilia and fear the album is dedicated to the sorrows of childhood. Furthermore it is intended to critize the social misbalance of our time. Men ought to be provoked to rethink. The protagonists skillfully manage to be shortlasting and open-minded. Alongside the previously known mixtures of various musical styles, special attention has been directed towards recording quality and diversity of sound. Topping off the album is the extraordinary remix of “Mondscheinkind” with hard-rocking guitar riffs, as well as pieces like “Du Störst” which break away from stylistic limitations of acoustic guitars. DAS PRÄPARAT know how to reinvent themselves repeatedly, musically as well as visually. Thus, the audience will be led to ecstasy again during their next live shows. | The Danse Society | Seduction | £10.75

Review THE DANSE SOCIETY were a very special band formed in the early 1980s. They experimented musically with sound and attitude and released their music through their own label, Society Records, a very bold move at that time. During the 80s, THE DANSE SOCIETY aquired a reputation for lush and atmospheric sounds that separated them from the rest of the gothic scene of the time. The innovative and creative use of keyboards was the element gave this band their distinctive sound. This is a collection of THE DANSE SOCIETY’s material from their early and most respected days. The backbone for the album is the ultra rare and collectable “Seduction” album, which was released in 1982 along with tracks from their highly acclaimed 12″ singles “Somewhere”/”Hide” and “Woman’s Own”. Other tracks include their first single “Clock” and the classic “These Frayed Edges”. The CD features the original “Seduction” LP cover along with the other sleeves from the Society Records period. Review As the first in a series of retrospective compilations, THRILL KILL KULT have revisited their early ‘industrial’ roots, and have masterfully breathed new life into twelve of the most definitive TKK tracks from the band’s Wax Trax Records era. The CD also includes a previously unreleased track from that time called “Satana Rising”. Why remix such classics as “And This Is What the Devil Does” or “Kooler Than Jesus”? (to mention just two of their biggest hits). Think of it as TKK in a new, aural 3D-version… Or better yet – 4D, or beyond! From the call for drugs in “A Daisy Chain 4 Satan”, to the chants of Christian Zombie Vampires in “The Days of Swine and Roses”, every nuance is clearer, every drum beat pumps harder, and every sinister whisper speaks louder to your mind, body and soul. “It was like visiting old friends after 20 years by remixing those songs”, says producer Buzz McCoy. “And it was nice to finally add some sonic sparkle to those dusty, old tracks!” Tread where Angels fear to go! Review Back again with a new project, Taury Goforth, original singer-songwriter for HEX RX’s album “X”, is proving to be forever in our faces with violent aggression and an enraged, ‘fuck you’ attitude. Having been classified as ‘progressive old-school’, this face-lift to industrial music will make you stop bickering about how bad the food is and make you want to get up and punch the cook in the face. This self-titled album should please most audiences due to the diversity in style throughout. This is not the same song over and over again, folks, it is a triumph of industrial glory! With songs like “Horror” and “Concrete” you’ll be forced to your feet by stompy dance beats. With tracks like “Desultory” and “Dejected” you’ll be possessed by violent rage and angst. And “Taste” is becoming the new fuck song for all clubs with its raunchy and overly imaginative/suggestive lyrics and tones. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review SCORN’s fourteenth full length release remains in the vibe and tempo of modern dubstep while adding a brand new element to the SCORN sound: a live drummer, Ian ‘Yan’ Treacy. The vibrant sounds of the kit are run through the filters and dub wizardry of Mick Harris, former drummer for NAPALM DEATH and guinness world record holder for composer of the world’s shortest song. SCORN is an entity – for over fifteen years Mick Harris has not relented with the project’s dubbed out beats, film noir atmospheres, and over the top bass compulsions. “Refuse; Start Fires” is perhaps the angriest and most well articulated of his projects in the last decade! Review The rarities of the electronic pioneer KLAUS SCHULZE were previously released in a strictly limited edition, called “The Ultimate Edition” and document the history and the rich diversity of this exceptional musician, even more impressive than on his official releases. These recordings – now completely remastered – are being reissued in a series of elaborate editions, each containing three CDs in a high-quality digipak, including a booklet with detailed background information and comments. Disc 1 contains the second part of the Oberhausen concert featured on “La Vie Electronique 5”, plus the two solo pieces “Schwaensee” which were recorded in 1976 in the studio in Hambühren. “Fear at Madame Tussaud’s” was recorded in April, 1977 in the London planetarium – at that time a novelty, for it was the first time that a concert had been held in a planetarium. “Zeitgeist” is a concert which was recorded on October 17Th, 1977 in front of 5500 people in the Cathedral of Saint Michael in Brussels. “Inside The Harlequin” is the encore of this evening. The recording date of “La Vie Secrète” cannot be exactly determined any more. Recorded either in 1977/78 or 1975 this piece remains a very quiet, almost meditative jewel. In contrast to this stands “Barracuda Drum”, recorded around 1978 with Harald Grosskopf on drums. Last but not least at the end of the third CD we encounter the KLAUS SCHULZE of 1979: in October and November of that year Schulze was on tour with ARTHUR BROWN. “There Was Greatness in the Room” is a fragment of the encore of a concert from October 29th 1979 in Brussels. | Attention System | Wait for My Signal | £13.75
![]() |
Review ATTENTION SYSTEM are an electro act from Atlanta USA. Their influences include all the ‘obvious’ acts that come to mind when listening to music of this genre, such as VNV NATION, COVENANT, COMBICHRIST, ICON OF COIL, FRONT 242, SKINNY PUPPY, APOPTYGMA BERZERK etc., but also some rather less ‘obvious’ ones including THE CURE, CLAN OF XYMOX, LAIBACH, DAFT PUNK, JEAN-MICHEL JARRE and others! The first time ATTENTION SYSTEM sat down together with their instruments in the summer of 2008, they had one common goal in mind: to write music that would make people dance. With darkwave and punk at their core, Brian Fisher (vocals, keys), Joshua Broughton (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Davis (guitar), Chris Edmonds (bass) and Jason Curtis (drums) were ready for something new. Dabbling in the world of electronics, they’ve managed to fuse 80s synthpop with darker undertones – and they’ve created what they only half-jokingly like to call “a rock band who’s mugged an electronica band and is digging through a stolen, dirty pair of pants for extra synth lines.” They’ve been compared to countless other electro acts, but ATTENTION SYSTEM’s music packs a heavier punch than most while remaining highly danceable. In 2008 ATTENTION SYSTEM independently released a self-produced EP which earned the band generous local and regional radio airplay, plus a (US) nationally televised commercial for the DIY Network. In just over a year the band has gone from unknown local act to headlining packed weekend shows in Atlanta’s notorious underground rock and dance venues. Their live shows have generated a citywide buzz, landing them numerous opening slots for national acts and the Readers Choice Award for Best New Music Act in The Creative Loafing’s Best Of Atlanta 2009 edition. With their grip on the Atlanta music scene firmly established, ATTENTION SYSTEM set out to broaden their regional presence with an aggressive touring schedule throughout the South East of the United States in 2009. At the same time, they headed back to the studio to track their first full-length record. With the new album now completed, the band is gearing up for an explosive 2010 with the highly-anticipated release of their CD, new high-definition videos and extensive bookings along the East Coast – and hopefully to Europe later on this year! And here it is: “Wait for My Signal”. Twelve tracks of catchy but dark electro that will make people dance everywhere! Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Anklebiter | I Will Wait | £12.00 | ||

Review Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Tanner Volz began cultivating his talents for creating electronic music in the early 1990s with the post-industrial band THINE EYES. From there, the eclectic project ML was realized and went on to release prolific works on such labels as Toast and Jam, n5MD, En:peg, and Piehead Recordings. In 2008, Tanner seeded his new project ANKLEBITER. During this time, a deeply personal, idiosyncratic, and emotionally rich instrumental electronic work emerged that fully indulged Tanner’s love of contemporary Shoegaze and Synthpop styles, as well as his deep roots in early industrial and dark new wave. With a vast array of seemingly straightforward analog patterns converging together to generate deeply emotional, beat-driven dark IDM soundscapes, “I Will Wait” manages to embrace a refreshing simplicity with unique effectiveness that is rarely heard these days. Staggering beats meet nostalgic synthlines to create a haunting aural utopia that is at once beautiful and altogether strangely alluring. Review One of Tympanik Audio’s most revered and iconic artists returns for his fourth full-length album entitled “On the First of November”. Here TOTAKEKE elevates his signature brand of infectious beatwork accentuated by complex rhythms, dark melodies, and massive atmospheres to create another addictive beat-driven masterpiece. He steps up the tautness with a resounding sense of ferocity pounding out ten powerful new tracks of immense proportions. From beginning to end, “On the First of November” gushes with caressing tension and head-nodding beats amidst a swirling torrent of sputtering glitch, ominous pads, punching beat drops, mind-bending breaks, and looming basslines. Review Since the release of their now classic Russian neofolk album “Belovodie” five years ago, MOON FAR AWAY have proved their status as the ‘band of influence’ on the current Russian scene. Their cult following includes both dark folk, neofolk and folk metal fans, as well as the gothic and neoclassic audience. “Minnesang” is an album of 21st century ritual music encased in a unique fusion of the most diverse and zeitgeist-capturing musical styles, from neofolk and post-punk to practically future-pop. Review From the early 90s, tracks by BIONIC have been featured on countless EBM compilations, all of which are now collector’s items (such as “We Came to Dance 7” and “Tyranny Off the Beat Vol. 2”). After a very successful debut album on Off Beat Records, the project showed the promise of a bright future and toured with acts such as à;GRUMH, DIE KRUPPS and DE/VISION. But instead, BIONIC simply stopped producing music and completely disappeared from the scene. Now, fifteen(!) years later, BIONIC return with ten new songs and two remixes, proving that ‘Electronic Body Music’ is still alive and still able to sound modern and up-to-date! “Close to Nature” turns out to be a multi-faceted album with strong melodic elements, showing influences from classical EBM pioneers such as DATA BANK A (“What Would You…?”, “Somwhere”) complex atmospheric soundscapes (“Cold Eyes”) and catchy melodic club sounds (“It Doesn’t Matter”) which are reminiscent at times of the earlier phase of FRONT 242 (“Anything”). The mastering was done by Dirk ‘ACCESSORY’ Steyer, who also contributes a remix. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

That was the aim when DUST IS NOISE was formed by Jacob, Mike J and Mike T. Collectively the three members work as the electronic outfit ALTER DER RUINE, an act known for dirty, funky electro. In their downtime they found themselves writing melodic synthpop and while they enjoyed it they knew it couldn’t be worked into the ADR live sets without causing heads to implode. Rather than leave the songs on the shelf they chose to add vocals and dress the tunes up as an entirely different package. With heavy emphasis on a big beat, grooving synths and incensed vocals DUST IS NOISE jammed along on a mission to complete a full length album. After playing a slew of live dates they caught the attention of Vendetta Music and shortly afterwards were taken on board to release their debut album entitled “Fractured Forms”. Review “Violence Corporation”, the new album from K.I.F.O.T.H. on Vendetta Music, presents 10 tracks of complex, multi-layered dark electronics, reminiscent of the best electro-industrial of the 90s, such as FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, NOISE UNIT, X MARKS THE PEDWALK and T.H.D Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review More than twelve years after their debut album “Flowing with the Flue” (released on Deathwish/Nuclear Blast) and the “Arabia” single, BORN FOR BLISS return with their long-awaited second album! The band was been founded by guitarist and vocalist Frank Weyzig who, as live guitarist and keyboard player of well known wave-gothic band CLAN OF XYMOX, was responsible for the typical guitar sound. In addition to the eleven new tracks on this album, we also find previously unreleased songs like “Dragon” (composed originally in the 80s for CLAN OF XYMOX) and “Ylene” (composed for and performed by the band LOVE LIKE BLOOD for their “Snakekiller” album). In total, “Between Living and Dreaming” offers fifteen tracks with a classical guitar-wave impact which cannot be ignored. With this album BORN FOR BLISS are back with music that will satisfy handmade music-lovers. The long deleted debut-album “Flowing with the Flue” (including bonus tracks) will be available again soon. Review This new longplayer proves once again, that this group fronted by charismatic singer Peer Lebrecht, have undoubtedly been an integral part of the scene for over ten years now. Songs like “Liberation” show references to well know genre bands, but the whole album keeps the spirit of classic ‘Wave-Rock’ bands like JOY DIVISION, THE CHAMELEONS, THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS and PETER MURPHY alive and adds a modern touch, both in songwriting and production. The band has recently performed at the Dark Spring Festival in Berlin and at this years WGT Festvial and more concerts will be announced soon! Review “Distances” by NAMNAMBULU is without a doubt one of the most legendary album releases in Infacted Recordings’ eight-year history, and a huge seller for the label. Thousands of copies sold across the planet made this debut CD a true success for band and label. Time for Infacted to celebrate this release with a special ‘Black Edition’, featuring two additional bonus tracks and new cover artwork. A ‘must-have’ not only for ‘die hard’ fans but also for newbies to the electropop sound of the band. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review After the albums “Sounds without Souls”, “40 Minutes into the Future” as well as many shows such as Maschinenfest, Forms of Hands and DeciBelio, here is the long awaited third release from this Madrid based electronica act. It’s a musical journey through virtual spaces from intelligent laser drills over hyper cubes to artificial sunsets. The sound universe of SHORAI has become even more unique over the last few years and can be described somewhere between IDM, electronica, industrial sound design and a little boing bumm tschak. “It Was Listening with Mechanical Precision” includes ten tracks and each is exactly 5:00 minutes long: the recommended dose for both robots and human beings! Review Artaud Seth, ex-head of DION FORTUNE RECORDS and founder of bands like THE MERRY THOUGHTS, DIARY OF DREAMS and GARDEN OF DELIGHT is back, triumphant! For Artaud Seth, the final stop of legendary GARDEN OF DELIGHT didn’t mean the end of his career. Three years after the last regular GARDEN OF DELIGHT album Seth is back with a new album called “LIB.1” out on the Solar Lodge label. The album was already released in March of this year, exclusively available from the label directly and through a few, very selected mailorders. The original release is now completely sold out, but the second edition comes with an exclusive, previously unavailable bonus track. “‘LIB.1’ is a revisiting of the sound of the eighties and early nineties. Pure, retro Goth!” as the band puts it. They didn’t have the intention to do something completely new. They are not trying to reveal another future sound. If you like the Sisters, you’ll love the Nuns. Simple, ironic, dark. Just tunes from a long forgotten time of very intense music! Enjoy the Nunhood. | Klangstabil | Vertraut | £10.50
![]() |
Review This collection includes the original version of KLANGSTABIL’s most famous track, “Vertraut”, which captured the attention of listeners worldwide right from its first release on a compilation in 2002. In addition to that you will find eight other interpretations, demonstrating the versatility of work that can be extracted from the catchy, familiar motif. Some of the artists who have remixed the track have based their interpretation on intelligent dance music: the breakbeat-framed SOMATIC RESPONSES version, a hybrid of breakcore and IDM by U.S. project ACCESS TO ARASAKA, KEEF BAKER’s metric electro background, which turns into post-rock with dense guitars, and ARCHITECT’s Daniel Myer gives us dancefloor-capable pounder topped with a plausible new melody line to complement the original theme. Torben Wendt (DIORAMA) turns “Vertraut” into beautiful melodic body music, while SYNAPSCAPE keep the original track structure but replace the instrumentation and beats, turning the theme into a heavy electronic floorburner. KSDJ is Maurizio Blanco himself, adding some newly faceted rhythm patterns and melody lines, making his version a contemporary DJ anthem. The remix section is topped off by L’OMBRE from Canada, with lush ambient electronica at its finest. The release is then closed by the melancholic ambiance of “Zweiter Schritt” and “Ein Schritt Weiter”, which also mark the end of one of the most important chapters of KLANGSTABIL’s existence. In 2002, the album “Kopfmusik” would have been published on Ant-Zen but only six tracks were produced to completion, one of which was “Vertraut”. The project was eventually renounced for personal reasons and “Vertraut” was the only track published in its original version. After “Kopfmusik” KLANGSTABIL started work almost immediately on “Taking nothing seriously” (2004) and incorporated some elements of “Kopfmusik” into it. The track “Ein Schritt weiter” is an early, incomplete version of “Away” from that album. Other elements of “Kopfmusik” can be heard in “Lauf, Lauf!” and “Beziehungsohr” from the album “Math & Emotion” (2008). This release is thus not a ‘regular’ album, but the end of the story for “Kopfmusik” and its history, which accompanied KLANGSTABIL for 10 years. Finally, that book is closed and put back on the shelf. Detailed information on “Vertraut” and “Kopfmusik” is included in the CD booklet. | Neutral Lies | A Deceptive Calm | £14.00
![]() |
Review Amazing new discovery on the Boredom Label, known for excellent acts such as CELLULOIDE, DECKAD, FORETASTE… Hailing from Lille close to Belgium and its electronic influence, NEUTRAL LIES deliver a blend of pop melodies à la CAMOUFLAGE and minimal electronics à la ABSOLUTE BODY CONTROL. But the band are far from imitating the past, and do not limit themselves to these good old references but also inject some techno influences into their sound – especially and unexpectedly in their more mid-tempo tracks. The quality of both songwriters and vocalists make their debut album “A Deceptive Calm” a unique piece to discover, one into which to dive slowly further with each listen. Not an attempt to make dancefloor hit killers, but a whole and consistent album of eleven well-written melancholic electronic songs. Another great release from this small but high quality label! | Morbus M. | Forget the Past | £13.00
![]() |
Review René Klimaczweski aka MORBUS M. presents dark, forceful and threading electronica and in some subtle ways also a very hypnotic and attracting album. On one hand his tracks have an intense atmosphere, on the other hand there is always a groove or a repetitive structure. Industrial trip-hop rhythms and electronica sound design meet electronic soundtrack tradition. Media samples, field-recordings and beat structures build up finally towards an atmosphere that is almost too intense and deep. In total “Forget the Past” is an album that breaks the borders of genres and is an emotional trip into the inner apocalypse. Packaged in a Hands Paper Pack. | Extize | Gothic Pussy | £6.75
![]() |
Review Although many people hopelessly underestimated this ferocious act after their first single “Hellektrostar” (the EP was sold out in 2 weeks!), the debut longplayer “FallOut Nation” convinced even the most stubborn critics and enviers that this conglomerate of wild electro addicts is here to stay! Without even pausing to draw breath, EXT!ZE launch their second highly addictive single “Gothic Pussy” right into the strobelight-dominated black heart of the clubs and the united electro armies of this world. Reckless, and as always, regardless of the consequences, “Gothic Pussy” undoubtedly marks one of the many highs on the club manifesto “FallOut Nation”, making it the perfect second assault for the dancefloors. And when EXT!ZE once again take charge of the international DJ playlists with this mercilessly stomping track, no one will be able to resist the ‘with us or against us’ attitude these glamorous savages have cultivated. Still, EXT!ZE are way more than another flashy cybergoth outfit hunting after the latest trends as this second single openly articulates: armed with an impressive array of ten tracks, the electro rebels propagate their genuine lifestyle and celebrate their passion for hyperactive nights, intoxicants and driving beats that no one can resist. Of the four songs featured, two of them are exclusive and previously unreleased, and the EP features remixes by beat priests like X-RX and SANTA HATES YOU (the new battleground of electro veteran Peter Spilles of PROJECT PITCHFORK), making sure that even the laziest feet are moving to their rhythms. With EXT!ZE intoning their provocative hymn “Gothic Pussy”, highly laborious dancefloor activity is preprogrammed once more – appropriately accompanied by profoundly explicit booklet pictures that interpret the single’s title as tantalizingly as possible without becoming illegal. EXT!ZE is pure sex – and “Gothic Pussy” is a harsh dancefloor terror for the new decade. Long live the night! Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review See, the dog’s got teeth like razors… and he uses them to bite! On “Dog Eat Dog”, the brand new single from Mexican hard electro legend HOCICO, shouter Erk Aicrag and sound wizard Racso Agroyam are more aggressive than ever before. A catchy-as-hell hook line meets the most brutal vocal escapades and the hardest beats the duo has ever unleashed: a relentless aggro-fest with a distinctive hit appeal. The new single also contains four bass-laden remixes from SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS, AESTHETIC PERFECTION, DIABOLIC ART and ARSCH DOLLS as well as the exclusive B-side smasher “Escape the Spell”. A massive appetizer for the forthcoming album “Tiempos de Furia”! Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review This is the much demanded and long overdue re-release of an extremely rare album from VON THRONSTAHL, originally released in 2002. The album was strictly limited to 500 hand-numbered copies and came in very special packaging: the CD was mounted on a glass plate inside a 6″ black box with gold-embossed logo and title on the front. Regarded as one of the most original and finest VON THRONSTAHL CDs, this is the first time that this long-lost album has been re-released. All tracks have been digitally re-mastered making them sound much fresher than ever! Furthermore, this special re-release comes with a second CD, densely packed with rare remixes, different versions of well known tracks and a number of previously unreleased, exclusive tracks! The packaging this time is a little more modest, but still quite lavish: a deluxe 2CD digipak inside a beautiful cardboard-slider with gold print. | TenHornedBeast | Hunts and Wars | £13.50
![]() |
Review TENHORNEDBEAST’s third album for Cold Spring was recorded over a three year period from 2006 to 2009. This album introduces subtle changes to the established TENHORNEDBEAST sound with shorter, delicate interludes separating longer tracks that rage with heavy distortion and doom-drone barbarism. The use of leaden, sub-tuned bass guitar creates rhythms and riffs that dominate a battlefield of vast ritual percussion and droning walls of electric dissonance, creating epic and expansive textures that by turns burn with frost and freeze with fire. Heavily influenced by the oneiric visions of Robert E Howard and Lord Dunsany, “Hunts and Wars” seeks to evoke the elemental, anti-modern fantasias of these writers and is presented in a lavish digipak designed by noted American graphic designer Kevin Yuen, to its full grotesque glory. The days have come when the steel will rule. Titans arise, monuments fall. Ballads of victory and defeat are sung aloud as from the highest steps as we are swept on to the eternal “Hunts and Wars”. | Front Line Assembly | Improvised Electronic Device | £12.50

Review Always expanding and reconstructing electronic and industrial music to its breaking point while keeping rhythm and melody intact, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY prepare to unleash the latest chapter in their storied history, with the release of “Improvised Electronic Device”. “I.E.D. is definitely furthering the direction of the band and sound, creatively and artistically” explains founder and mastermind behind FLA, Bill Leeb. “We’re finding new ways to make sound.” A hearty and robust album, thick with a hybrid of electronics and guitars, I.E.D. takes FLA’s trademark sound and beefs it up with metallic guitars and stylized industrial beats. Kicking off with the adrenaline-infused title track, it’s apparent that this is a new and improved FLA. “This is the first time in Front Line history that we did a track in a 5/4 signature” explains Bill. “Chris [Peterson, keyboards] was pushing for more diversity, challenging the band to do something different. We wanted this track to be as challenging and complex as the world we live in as there are no easy answers.” From the electronic bounce of “Hostage” to the dark metal of “Release” to the ambient and atmospheric closing track “Downfall”, I.E.D. is an album rife with the FLA’s brand of intelligent dance music. The first single “Shifting Through the Lens” is the most danceable track FLA have created in the last decade and came together quite naturally. “Jeremy [Inkel, keyboards] came up with the original sequence for the verse and chorus and, right away, I really liked what I heard” Bill explains. “It really brings together a lot of the different aspects of industrial and electronic that we all like.” The inimitable Al Jourgensen (MINISTRY, REVOLTING COCKS) guests on the sonic industrial onslaught of “Stupidity” which Bill describes as, “inspired by the MINISTRY album ‘The Last Sucker’. Jeremy was on tour with his other band LEFT SPINE DOWN supporting REVCO and he get to know Al really well. We’re really excited to have him on it!” Adds Jeremy, “Not only did Al agree to do the vocals, but he got his hands dirty with the production and mixed the whole song in his studio in El Paso.” Formed in 1986 when Bill left SKINNY PUPPY, FLA are still as vital and energetic as ever. With US and European tours planned for Summer and Autumn 2010, they’re gearing up for their legendary epic live performances. “We’re quite excited [to tour],” Bill adds. “We feel we have grown as a band over the last four years. We really feel this new album will sound great live and can’t wait to get out there and be creative with it!” Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |
