The Holydrug Couple recently
 announced their follow-up record to 2013’s
Noctuary —Â the new LP,Â
Moonlust, sees the
 Chilean duo boldly treading territory in which their earlier psych-indebted recordings only hinted at. Influence from French movie soundtracks of the ’70s and ’80s and the discography of
Serge Gainsbourg are no doubt present here.
The new album’s twelve songs are streamlined hook delivery machines, without any baroque arrangements or unnecessary flourishes to get in the way of their ultimate goal.
The band previously shared the single “Dreamy“, and today are sharing yet another new track from the forthcoming album entitled “Baby, I’m Going Away.” There is clear inspiration from the soul ballads of Aretha Franklin, ’80s South American synthpop acts like Los Encargados, Virus, and Los Prisioneros at play on this track and the result is quite satisfying.
In addition to sharing the new song, the band are also announcing a full U.S. tour slated for May and June. This will be the first time the band is hitting the States since 2013. Make sure you catch them if they are hitting your city as their live show is not to be missed.
