Artist: MIEL NOIR
Title: Der Honigflügel
Format: CD
Label: The Eastern Front (@)
Miel Noir's second release on The Eastern Front label is titled DER HONIFLUGEL and if you already checked Dimo Dimov's previous split with B-Machina try to forget it as this one sounds different. The five tracks of the album are piano suites mixed with few industrial sounds and, as the info sheet reports, samples coming from Russian movies inspired by classical Russian novel "Crime and Punishment" written by Fyodor Dostoevsky and Goncharov novels (instead, the second track "Honigglut" contains Italian movie samples as far as I understand by listening to it). The piano lines are recorded like coming from a crackling radio and the effect created is a particular one as it seems recorded from an early 20th century movie. During the whole CD there's an overall feeling of despair: even if the main instrument is the piano, there isn't a definite melodic line and this enhance the sense of desolation I think Dimo wanted to create.
