I have previously reviewed several releases by this German artist and have enjoyed them all immensely, so I was interested to see what he had in store for us this time. Now I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Andreas Davids pulled this line from Front 242's song “Tragedy For You,” since I am unaware of any other media using that particular turn of phrase, nor is Google for that matter. As such, I expected some electro with a beat that you can dance to. I mean, the guy does EBM under his other moniker, Xotox.
You can imagine, then, my surprise when this turned out to be a repetitive, hypnotic, droney, almost peaceful composition with bits of hiss and static and spectral voices thrown in for good measure. This is not anything that you would find on the dance floor, but it is quite nice and almost soothing. The composition relies on cyclical themes but still has a lot of things going on that keep it interesting.
Overall, this is another solid release, and I have yet to hear anything from Davids that I have not enjoyed. Well worth picking up and settling in with. This album weighs in at around 20 minutes.
