Jacek Doroszenko’s "Identity Values" feels less like a traditional album and more like a sonic symposium—a meditative exploration of selfhood, values, and the fluid, ever-changing process of identity construction. Known for his interdisciplinary finesse, the Polish audiovisual artist weaves soundscapes that reflect his conceptual rigor, offering listeners a reflective, almost philosophical experience.

Opening with "Identity Values – Movement I", Doroszenko immediately sets a contemplative tone. The piece feels like an invocation, its minimalist piano lines and subtle electronic textures drawing the listener into a headspace where the boundaries of self begin to dissolve. The track acts as a thesis statement: identity is neither fixed nor simple but a complex, malleable interplay of internal and external forces.

"Aleatoric Ressentiment", at over 13 minutes, is the album’s sprawling heart. Its layers of glitchy electronics, fractured melodies, and fleeting hints of organic sound create an atmosphere that’s at once uneasy and hypnotic. It’s as if Doroszenko is sonically deconstructing the concept of identity, exposing its contradictions and ambiguities in a swirl of sound.

"Identity is Malleable" offers a more concise reflection, its delicate interplay of synth and field recordings capturing the essence of change and adaptability. Meanwhile, "Before Water Formed a Shape", featuring label mates Autistici, stands out as a collaborative highlight. The interplay between the two artists results in a track that’s lush, intricate, and deeply evocative, evoking imagery of liquid forms shifting and flowing into new configurations.

The album’s three "Identity Values" movements serve as anchor points, recurring like thematic refrains in a poem. Movement II introduces a sense of urgency, its rhythmic pulse and cascading tones suggesting the relentless forward march of time and the pressures it exerts on self-conception. Movement III, the finale, feels like a resolution—not in the sense of definitive answers but in the acceptance of identity’s inherent fluidity.

Other tracks, like "Rain Dance" and "Self-Control Model", delve into the interplay of ritual and regulation. The former is almost tribal in its rhythmic intensity, a nod to the performative aspects of identity, while the latter’s deliberate pacing and layered electronics evoke the intricate balancing act of self-regulation in a world of competing influences.

Doroszenko’s artistic sensibilities shine throughout "Identity Values". His background in visual art is evident in the album’s cinematic quality - each track feels like a scene in an abstract film. Yet, this is not an esoteric exercise. Beneath the conceptual framework lies music that is richly textured, emotionally resonant, and deeply human.
