Every saga has a beginning! Back in 2007, Ashbury Heights emerged like a shooting star out of nowhere on the Synth-Pop-scene. On their lively and anthemic debut “Three Cheers For The Newlydeads”, the young Swedish duo fused the super-cool catchiness of the Eighties with a solid dose of Disco-pep, teenage angst and rebellious attitude to create one of the most interesting works of contemporary electronic Pop music in recent years. On their second mini album “Morningstar In A Black Car”, released one year later, Ashbury Heights spiced up their trademark sound with a more mature note and, thus, established themselves as one of the most important acts of the new Electro-Pop-wave. Coinciding with the release of their new long player “Take Cair Paramour”, the anthology “Origins” combines both previous releases with one unreleased bonus song on two CDs. Released on Out Of Line and available July 30th, 2010.

Rotersand returns with an all new EP, Waiting To Be Born. Clocking in at nearly an hour, the EP features reworked versions of songs from the highly acclaimed album Random Is Resistance as well as exclusive songs. The new EP further pushes the reach of Rotersand’s sound, as melodic EBM, trance, and other influences blend with highly intelligent, introspective lyrics. Highlighting the Waiting To Be Born release is a beautiful version of Peter Murphy’s classic “A Strange Kind Of Love”. Waiting To Be Born once again shows that the members of Rotersand are masterful musicians. Released on Metropolis and available september 28th, 2010.

With ‘Rotten Roma Casino’, SPIRITUAL FRONT consciously shake off their underground roots in order to invent their own unique variety of morbid folk-pop which blends indie rock, acoustic chords and tango into a new, intense and above all heartrending, genuine mixture. In a varied sequence of romantic, vibrant, cynical, sad and occasionally gruesome ballads, we dive into the incomparable world of SPIRITUAL FRONT: Kiss The Girls And Make Them Die’ as well as ‘Sad Almost A Winner’ or ‘Cold Love (In A Cold Coffin)’. It is still ELVIS PRESLEY’s libertine little brother: HELLVIS. With auratic timbre in his voice, he once again sings about the impossibility of love and the pain which it leaves behind. Love, it is said, (also) tastes of death… ‘Rotten Roma Casino’ is a fresh and original but at the same time mature and majestic musical work, without compromise but yet catchy; slightly sweet but yet disturbing. In any case a worthy redemption of the promise which ‘Armageddon Gigolo’ once gave. Suicide pop in its purest form… Released on Trisol and available September 24th, 2010.

Just the CD+DVD here:

This surprising new star on the apocalyptic-folk-scene sprouts from the punk and sing-songwriter genres, and has now combined these attitudes with a sombre and experimental martial-folk with a strong personal imprint. ROME is about emotive songs that are both catchy and disturbed. These songs awake memories of love and death, with the reoccurring themes of despair and loss, guilt and grief, might and war. With the cynical opening line „Once we learned to speak we learned to fail“, the band sets a grand colour to this exquisite candy piece of 6 exclusive songs. This much demanded re-release of “Berlin” comes in a very appealing digipak. The first edition of this debut mini-album has long been sold-out since its release in 2006. Trisol is both honoured and proud to finally make this release available again to you. Due to Jerome’s constant changes of address during the CMI-years some original artwork files have been lost to time. However, the artwork has been restored or partially re-invented and even enhanced with a booklet containing all lyrics and additional photographs. Released on Trisol and available September 24th, 2010. For the die-hard fans! The MCD plus a wonderful T-Shirt of this leading Neofolk act. AVAILABLE SIZES: S, M, L, XL and XXL. Just the CD-EP is here:

It’s the first time ever that Trisol gives you the opportunity to order a Band T-Shirt without having to buy the actual release as well. The reason for this is simple: ROME’s “Berlin”-MCD is a re-release and Trisol did not want to push you to buy it all in a set when all you might want is the t-shirt. BEWARE: Compared to all earlier T-Shirts the Berlin-Shirt is indeed more expensive, because Trisol decided to offer a high quality product. Trisol chose the best there is on the market. This T-Shirt is not your average Black T-Shirt,  but a dark Brown T-Shirt with light brown print. Trisol believes this rather nostalgic look fits ROME’s debut MCD perfectly. To top it off, the ROME-logo is made in an elaborate 3D-print. As usual, we also offer you the complete set for a special price. Available September 24th, 2010.
ROME (3D-print) and Slogan “DIES IST KEINE RICHTUNG – NUR REINE BEWEGUNG” (this is no direction – just pure movement)
Slogan: “BEWEGUNG ENTSTEHT DURCH HALTUNG” (the source of movement is composure)

After the wild success of iVardensphere’s debut cd, Scatterface, a killer remix compilation was the natural evolution. Komor Kommando, Memmaker, Iszoloscope, Virtual Terrorist, and Katastroslavia throw down dance floor devastation and mayhem with some of the sickest remixes you’re going to hear this year. Left Spine Down, Maqlu and Psykkle bring forth mixes ranging from trip hop to experimental to 100% industrial. The release is closed out by iVardensphere slamming back with an IN YOUR FACE club remix of Katastroslavia’s Completely Normal. Warning: iVardensphere is not responsible for damages incurred by out of control rivetheads! Released on Synthetic Sounds and available July 19th, 2010.

Sub Luna is a Swedish duo formed by Mikael Lindblom (also a live collaborator for Karjalan Sissit) and Fredrik Sooberg. After four years of silence they return with their new album Awake! Their sound has definitely been refined and expands the framework established with their previous album, the double CD “”In The Shade of time”.  On this second album Sub Luna are merging the more traditional elements of the dark folk genre with influences from the world of pop and rock and thus avoid falling into trappings of the genre. Awake! Also symbolically marks the ending of one era and the beginning of another. These are songs of love and hate, nostalgia and progression, magic and loss… songs of protest from the age of nihilism. With a guest vocal appearance by Ann-Mari Thim (Arcana) and Mastering done by Peter Bjargo. Mesmerizing quality Folk Noir brought to you through Cyclic Law’s new “Eclipse Series” imprint. Edition of 1000 copies in 4 Panel Digipack. Released on Eclipse / Cyclic Law and available July 23rd, 2010.

The limited fan box of the new Umbra Et Imago album (limited to 1500 copies) contains a 60 pages song book, an Umbra Et Imaga tie, a mouse pad and a fridge magnet!! They took the breath of both the music world and the media away for more than two decades: Umbra Et Imago from Karlsruhe is a trendsetter in many aspects. As the first group ever, founding member Mozart’s band performed a spectacular as well as artistic S&M show. Mozart himself became the figurehead of a subculture that made waves far beyond the reaches of the gothic scene. Thanks to his duet with female boxing world champion Regina Halmich (“Schlag Mich”), he caused an uproar in the popular press. With “Opus Magnus”, the band’s final hour has come. At least as far as the production of records is concerned – the group will continue to perform live. With the ginger liqueur manufacturer “Dracula”, a suitable cooperation partner was found for the grand finale. Released on Kussy Frosch and available July 9th, 2010.

With his excellent debut release ‘Audio Vandalism‘ in 2008 on the German label Hymen Records, the French Industrialist Zeller now turns to Tympanik Audio to offer our listeners his most abrasive and uncompromising work to date. At once a whirlwind of tight Industrial rhythms precisely punctuated by shuddering basslines, crafty breakbeats, and chaotic soundscapes, Zeller’s ‘Turbulences‘ accentuates unrelenting brutality and captivating aural serendipity. An eclectic mixture of hard Industrial beatworks, menacing synthlines, glitchy intricacies, and a solid showcase of dirty and complex sound arrangements, ‘Turbulences‘ is full of never ending revelations that expose themselves around every corner. Apocalyptic and ominous, Zeller’s maniacal new conceptions embrace a rare and forward-thinking approach to the rhythmic noise genre with an uncanny proficiency in control, density, and undeniable intensity. A shivering and addictive plunge into the dying art of modern rhythmic Industrial. Released on Tympanik and available July 23rd, 2010.

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Tanner Volz began cultivating his talents for creating electronic music in the early 1990s with the post-Industrial band Thine Eyes. From there, the eclectic project ML was realized and went on to release prolific works on such labels as Toast and Jam, n5MD, En:peg, and Piehead Recordings. While recovering from an illness in 2008, Tanner seeded his new project Anklebiter on a laptop from the comfort of his easy chair. During this time, a deeply personal, idiosyncratic, and emotionally rich instrumental electronic work emerged that fully indulged Tanner’s love for contemporary Shoegaze and Synthpop styles, as well as his deep roots in early Industrial and dark New Wave. Now, Anklebiter joins the Tympanik Audio family with his debut full-length album titled I Will Wait. With a vast array of seemingly straightforward analog patterns converging together to generate deeply emotional, beat-driven dark IDM soundscapes, ‘I Will Wait‘ manages to embrace a refreshing simplicity with unique effectiveness that is rarely heard these days. Staggering beats meet nostalgic synthlines to create a haunting aural utopia that is at once beautiful and all together strangely alluring. Released on Tympanik and available July 23rd, 2010.

Sigh of Ages is the result of extended periods of solitude and personal reflection for acclaimed composer Roach. Resulting directly from dynamic personal and cultural events, these pieces developed over time and in the moment. After 10 months of early morning and late night sonic meditations, Roach collected these various pieces and found they portrayed a poetic theme of sonic interpretations from this experience. Sculpted and refined in the artist’s deft hands, the source material of life itself took on a voice that spoke from a deep emotional well of subtle contemplation. A sacred realm of inner reflection. Released on Projekt and available July 27th, 2010.

Disciple is the first solo release from Steve Roach/Byron Metcalf collaborator Mark Seelig, and delves deeply into a meditative/spiritual style based on classical Indian Ragas and their devotional aspects. Mark’s Bansuri flute and overtone mantra chants blend with occasional female vocals, tamboura drones, percussion from Metcalf and analog synth drones from Roach, resulting in a powerfully engaging album supporting heart centered practice, deep meditation, yoga, etc. Through the spiritual energy of the four long tracks, Mark manifests an expression of deeply felt gratitude for the gift of life, for friendship, and for peace. The various ragas, vocalists, and chants pull the listener away from external concerns into a serene mood of profound relaxation and devotional contemplation. Released on Projekt and available July 23rd, 2010.

Worn Thin, the first full-length from NYC’s WEEP, takes their aggressive and firmly pop-structured songs to a place of heightened grandeur. Sweeping choruses, horn-driven verses, and lush production work seamlessly with WEEP’s guitar and drum-driven sound. At times the listener is reminded of The Head On The Door-era Cure enjoying the strange bedfellow of Catherine Wheel or Placebo. WEEP’s pilot, Doc Hammer (incidentally the same Doc Hammer who co-created Cartoon Network’s The Venture Bros.), brings his uniquely raspy vocals to the front on this release creating a bizarre but not unfamiliar kind of New Dark Pop. On Worn Thin, WEEP maintains their hard edge and generates a sound filled with loosely-bridled emotions and powerful rhythms. Doc explains: “This is the record we wanted to make. It’s almost like a reactionary antidote to what we’re sick of in music. That dry, low-tech production of the past ten years is tiring. It’s in its footy pajamas, and it needs to take a nap. We wanted something lush and dramatic for the songs on Worn Thin. They usually relegate that kinda over-the-top production to Lady Gaga. But believe me, it works really well with a messy little band like WEEP.” Released on Projekt and available July 27th, 2010.

Limited 6 panel digipak edition! Strictly limited to 2000 copies. Less than four months after the release of their highly successful debut album “Lib. 1”, GARDEN OF DELIGHT’s only legitimate successor follows up with the “Body of Light” EP to seamlessly continue where the debut album has left off.  Merciful Nuns epitomise the Goth genre more than most bands over the last decade and it can be said without a hint of exaggeration that here we finally find music that lives up to the expectations raised by the Sisters of Mercy’s “First and Last and Always”. The songwriting and production, despite the apparent Retro influences sound refreshingly contemporary and prove that Gothic 2010 does not have to sound antiquated and out of date.  Songs like “Body of Light” or “Morphine Queen” are gloomy Goth anthems par excellence and convey the feeling of a new dawn rising over musical shores which, it is hoped, will not only attract the generations of yesteryear but also find favour amongst those enthusiasts of dark and gloomy melodies who thus far perceive Gothic as a purely electronic genre. Enjoy the Nunhood. Released on Solar Lodge and available July 30th, 2010.
