(AWESOME)
MERZBOW “MERZBIENT – 12 CD BOXSET”
12 CD box set with die-cast metal “Animal Liberation” medallion!!
“Merzbient” is a twelve CD collection of Merzbow’s previously unreleased ambient recordings. The music was recorded in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, at a time when Masamik Akita (Merzbow) was becoming famous for his live performances, which featured some of the harshest sounds ever heard. The records he released mirrored these peformances, and helped establish his reputation as the prime mover in the Japanese noise scene. The electronics he used for his recordings were the same ones he used for live shows. Out of necessity he toured with gear that was small, simple and portable. But all the while he was secretly recording quieter, more atmospheric music, and using a wide variety of acoustic instruments including an impractical monstrosity he describes as a “big handmade junk instrument made from a metal box with piano wires”, which he played with a violin bow. He made hours and hours of recordings, but kept them private and never released them, until they were eventually set aside and forgotten. He recently rediscovered the multi-track mastertapes in a box and remastered them for release on CD. And what a discovery they are! These twelve discs represent a side of Merzbow never before heard. The music bears many of the signature styles expected from Merzbow – think of the theme of long-form drones pierced by random bursts of sound, for example – but it’s enticingly different from what we’ve heard before, with spacious sounds evoking prehistoric misty landscapes, desolate abandoned industrial sites, and sci-fi/horror film soundtracks. If the familiar and traditional Merzbow is like a jet plane taking off at full-throttle then “Merzbient” is the hanger where the plane was built. Not a violent assault on the ears, but something more interior, more personal, and more gentle. The twelve CDs in this collection are presented in a custom-made hard-cover box with red foil block printing. Each disc is packed in its own slipcase. When the slipcases are arranged togther in a rectangle a large image is revealed. A large and heavy (5 x 11cm, 84 gm) die-cast metal medallion with the Kanji characters representing “Animal Liberation” completes the set, which is limited to 555 numbered copies. Released on Soleilmoon and available October 11th, 2010.

ABSOLUTE BODY CONTROL “TAPES 81-89 – 5CD BOXSET”
Influenced by bands from the German and UK electronic scene, Dirk Ivens (synths & voice) formed ABSOLUTE BODY CONTROL early 1980, and was joined by Mark de Jonghe (synths) and Veerle de Schepper (backing vocals). After a first track on a compilation and a first 7” single (Is there an exit?), Mark leaves the band and Eric van Wonterghem (who was in fact a spectator at the first ABC concert), filled in the gap and became Dirk’s new musical partner for years to come. Soon ABC became one of the first Belgian elec- tronic acts who proved to be succesfull also on stage. In 1984 Dirk became a member of “The Klinik”, followed by Eric who left after the 2nd album to form Insekt. In 1989 they released their last tape “Tracks” which contained all ABC compilation contributions so far, but the band was put on non active well before. However, the public interest was still there and resulted in the release of a first ABC CD: “Eat this” (1993) on the German VUZ label (the same label that ‘discovered’ :Wumspcut:). Many people re-discovered the band and ABC releases became much sought after collectors items. Still, it took them over 22 years to reform and play at festivals all over Europe from year 2006 onwards. After releasing new versions of classic tracks like ‘Figures’ and ‘Give me your hands’ on the (deleted) ‘Wind[re]wind’ album (2008), and the extremely successful (also deleted) ‘Lost/Found’ 2CD, here now a FULL collection of all their ‘lost’ works from 1981 to 1989 – previously released on Vinyl only (on the ‘Vinyl on demand’-Label) and now for the first time ever available in digital format on this sumptuous 5-CD box-set. Released on Daft and available October 15th, 2010.

SABOTAGE / NUDE “SOUVENIR 7″”
Limited RED VINYL 7” – strictly 500 copies! Back in 1995, nobody was able to escape Sabotage q.c.q.c.’s ingenious song “Souvenir” – every club had this song in it’s heavy rotation list. The band had albums out on Danse Macabre (Das Ich’s label), Tatra (the first label for Apoptygma Berzerk and Icon of Coil), Strangeways (the label of Wolfsheim), EMI and other labels. The band toured and collaborated on sound-material with Pankow, Front 242, KMFDM, Oomph!, Cassandra Complex, Apoptygma Berzerk and many others. Unfortunately, 15 years later, this band doesn’t exist anymore. But both master- minds of Sabotage q.c.q.c., Marc W. and Isabelle Geh, tour the world with their new band NUDE, a project that also featured Daniel B. of Front 242 in it’s beginning. It is their special sound, made of Bass’n’Drum, Big Beat but also Electro and EBM elements, that makes it hard to press this band into any category. On 9th October, NUDE will perform together with The Klinik, amGod, Amnistia and AD:key at 15th Elektrisch Festival in Zwickau (Germany). There they will perform “Souvenir” for the first time in an exclusive NUDE live-version. So what’s the best thing to do, in order to honor this event? Black Rain will release the exclusive “Souvenir” 7 inch-edition, containing both versions of the classic – the orginal Sabotage q.c.q.c.-version and the previously unreleased, new version by NUDE. Released on Black Rain and available October 9th, 2010.

LEGENDARY PINK DOTS “SECONDS LATE FOR THE BRIGHTON LINE”
Unlike most acts of their vintage, The Legendary Pink Dots look forward. After more than 25 years, they continue to make compelling new music that is demanded by fans and maintains the high level of quality that set their careers in motion. Led by singer/songwriter Edward Ka-Spel and keyboardist/songwriter Phil “Silverman” Knight, the band continues to create their singular brand of modern psychedelia. Edward Ka-Spel’s lyrics breathe with a sagacity and cleverness only found in rock’s greatest writers. Their new album “Seconds Late For The Brighton Line” finds the band in familiar territory; pulsing Krautrock, dark and sinister pop and epic post-industrial soundscapes. The album invites the listener to put on head phones, close their eyes and embark on a technicolor journey. Stand out tracks include the epic electronic groove of “Russian Roulette”, the pretty naivete of “Someday” and the chilling goth-pop of “Endless Time.” The recent departure of long-time band members Niels Van Hoorn & Martijn De Kleer has left The Legendary Pink Dots to operate as a quartet. The new crew will embark on an extensive North American tour this Fall that celebrates the band’s 30th Anniversary. Released on ROIR and available October 15th, 2010.

NACHTMAHR “SEMPER FIDELIS”
Numerous victorious battles in guise of two internationally successful albums, explosive festival gigs and three colossal touring missions through the USA turned NACHTMAHR into a truly invincible force. In 2010, the project returns to the Industrial battlefields as nothing less than a superior opponent no one can hold back. The impressively matured third album “Semper Fidelis” does full justice to this ultimate grasp for leadership: A groundbreaking massive, unique beast of an album, “Semper Fidelis” underlines the “with or against us” attitude of the Industrial spearheads more than ever before. Worship or abhorrence – there is no other possibility. In virtue of the slogan “Semper Fidelis” – “Forever loyal”, supreme commander Thomas Rainer exercises a spectacular detonation of shell splinters and crushed detritus which is true to the attitude of the previous works and at the same time full of an unimagined wealth of complexity, establishing the borders to other brutal Industrial commandos even firmer. Take “Wir schreiben Geschichte” with a sample that is as thought-provoking as the harsh Noise sequences are relentless. Or the wildly thrashing Industrial bomb thrower “Verräter an Gott” that cleverly continues epic NACHTMAHR manifestos like “Katharsis” or “Mörder”. “Can You Feel The Beat?”, then, gives another proof of the supreme commander’s passion for classic EBM while “Unbeugsam” shows the pure essence of this act while serving the genre’s most massive beats ever. And with the stomping Electro stampede of “Tanz, Major!” resounding through the clubs, everyone voluntarily enlists to the NACHTMAHR army. “Semper Fidelis” offensively proves that the decadent philosophy behind NACHTMAHR is incorruptible. The songs clarify more than ever that this attack is guided by an artist playing by his own rules. Above everything else, NACHTMAHR is especially one thing: Honest. And honesty is the best policy. This nightmare has only just begun!

ROME “NERA”
After a highly praised mini-CD, the expectations for ROME’s debut album were huge – And ROME delivered! ROME songs are full of citations, abstractions and ideals. The marching and counter-marching of doubtful armies luring our love away, with licit grace, icy and bitter irony. Gentle phantasms of desire; The reversal of sympathies; The aspects of eternity, spiritual hunger, treachery and corruption, shame and honour – being more than mere traps for the unsophisticated: These are some of “Nera’s” interlocking themes in a world scorched by the wastefulness and cruelty of war. “Nera” is the meticulous patience of rage. Get it now and make it your friend, before it devours you! The first edition of this debut album has long been sold-out since its release in 2006. Trisol is both honoured and proud to finally make this release available again. Due to Jerome’s constant changes of address during the CMI-years some original artwork files have been lost to time. However, the artwork has been restored or partially re-invented and even enhanced with a booklet containing all lyrics and additional photographs. Released on Trisol and available November 26th, 2010.

SILVERY “WRITTEN ON SKIN”
6 years after the debut “Blackbox” (followed by “High-Class High On”), here comes finally the highly anticipated new album. The listener is accustomed to the great works this band has already delivered but, without a doubt, “Written On Skin” meets all expectations. SILVERY describe their latest musical outcome as a dark pop experience. Their music is more than ever before a crossover of Goth Rock, Trip-Hop sounds, Dark Wave, Synthie Pop and Metal. The band likes to vary a lot setting the mood in all emotional abysses from powerful, driven by guitars (“Return Or Ahead”) to apparently consumed by a sad longing and sometimes even fragile tune. The songs tend to have a gloomy and atmospheric spirit, influenced by the extraordinary melancholic voice leaving its decisive mark on the band’s sound. The very first beat reveals “Written On Skin” as a piece of art SILVERY put all their heart and soul into. Not only the music itself but also the production is defined by high quality since wellknown and experienced professionals like Dirk Riegner (Peter Heppner, Secret Discovery, Xandria and others) were involved. As a result the sound exceeds all expectations. SILVERY do not warm up the well-established. This album is a modern interpretation of Dark Wave, without getting lost in clichés or serving them. Released on EQUINOXE / E-NOXE and available October 15th, 2010.

RE:\LEGION “STATE OF MIND”
2 ½ years after their successful debut album “13 seconds”, which has enriched the Dark Electro scene with hits like ‘Nachthexen’, ‘Legion’ or ‘Line B’, the two legionnaires Olli and Martin have now returned from intensive studio work. The long wait for the new album was worth it! The sounds are clear, the vocals catchy and the songwriting is more mature. They experiment with new elements such as guitar and piano on selected tracks. However, Re:\Legion remain loyal to their original style: a combination of hard beats with melodic and trancy synths and many facets of the broad spectrum of electronic music. The 12 new songs spark a firework of danceable club tracks and catchy melodies, which will move your body. Songs such as ‘Persona non grata’ or ‘Sick a nd destroyed’ are potential dark electro hits and will once again fill the dance floors of the scene, while poppy songs such as ‘Golden Years’ and ‘8 ’21”’from the Sun’ impress with their harmonious atmosphere. Yet again, by providing ‘Trance: Formation’”, the only instrumental track on the CD, Re:\Legion deliver their mandatory trance piece as well. Released on EQUINOXE / E-NOXE and available October 15th, 2010.

SWANS “MY FATHER WILL GUIDE ME UP A ROPE TO THE SKY”
The first new record from SWANS since 1996! Yes, after years of pursuing ANGELS OF LIGHT and recording and producing a diverse roster of artists for his label, Michael Gira has reconvened his legendary group Swans. As he says: “this is not a reunion. It’s not some dumb-ass nostalgia act. It is not repeating the past. After five Angels of Light albums, I need a way to move forward, in a new direction, and it just so happens that revivifying the idea of Swans allows me to do that”. This highly anticipated album is as powerful and diverse as anything Gira has ever done, in Swans or otherwise. It opens with the epic, soul-crushing “No Words/No Thoughts”, but quickly veers to more pastoral terrain, and on to ever-ascending monotonal grooves. A filmic-folk idyll featuring Devendra Banhart on lead vocal abruptly shifts to cataclysm, and is followed by more airplane-taking-off ascensions, art songs and lethal sonic pummeling. In short, this is the new Swans album, a significant advance from where they left off and as challenging and emotionally demanding as ever. A massive 18 month tour (Montreal and Toronto dates are scheduled for early October) in support of the album begins in September. Released on Young God and available October 1st, 2010.
