In the summer of 2010, PROJECT PITCHFORK put us through their infernally intense Dark Electro journey named “Continuum Ride”. It was nothing less than the temporary climax of an unparalleled career that dates back to the year 1991 and boasts impressive cornerstones: Two decades of musical history, 13 studio albums, hundreds of gigs and countless cover stories lie behind mastermind Peter Spilles and his comrades Dirk Scheuber and Jürgen Jansen. And still not even the faintest sign of fatigue, as the groundbreaking quality of “Continuum Ride” or a fantastic rank 21 in the German Album Charts impressively prove. In 2011, the full steaming PROJECT PITCHFORK machinery pauses for a moment to look back. Almost exactly 20 years ago, the first PROJECT PITCHFORK album “Dhyani” was released, a seminal work of German Dark Electro and one of the genres’ early milestones. Adequate to this anniversary, PROJECT PITCHFORK release the lavishly equipped best-of work “First Anthology” and invite to the most extensive and extraordinary journey through the first ten years of their history – from their very early steps to the founding of their label Candyland Entertainment up until their time with the major company East West. Two brimful CDs feature a total of 31 tracks from the first PROJECT PITCHFORK decade. But instead of simply sweeping the tracks together without giving them so much as a glance, every single song has been remastered and adapted to today’s’ production possibilities – with a special attention on conserving the atmosphere and characteristic sound inherent to the original versions. Consequently, “K.N.K.A.”, one of the first PROJECT PITCHFORK tracks ever, stands side by side with the ecstatic sound realms of the new millennium present in titles like the immortal “Timekiller”. Besides laborious reworks of unforgettable classics like “Existence” or “Endzeit”, the best-of also features the brandnew track “Burning” that has been exclusively written for this release, once more underlining the band’s extraordinary status. No question: PROJECT PITCHFORK wrote Dark Electro history. But only the impressive thickness of timeless songs and the extensive biography in the luxurious booklet make clear how important this band really is for the Gothic/Electro scene. “First Anthology” is nothing less than a summarized Dark Electro history in 31 chapters, a musical journey through the opus of a groundbreaking band whose songs have lost nothing of their impact. As PROJECT PITCHFORK retrospective and history of a genre combined, “First Anthology” is an essential collection of influential songs. This is all you need to know about Dark Electro. The ‘regular’ edition comes in 6-panel digipak and including a 28 pages booklet. Released on Trisol and available March 25th, 2011.

For the die-hard fans! The new PROJECT PITCHFORK Best Of plus a wonderful tshirt of this leading Dark Electro band.

What else is there to say? With And One, you are getting what you came for. The new long player from Germany’s most successful Synth Pop group features twelve instances of highly electrifying euphony, balancing the scales between massive beat madness and the eternal quest for the holy Pop-grail. Gigantic tunes, big feelings and (..since “Pop” can lead to other associative interpretations, as well) a more than healthy dose of rhythmic gymnastics in glorious Bodypop-sensurround… “Tanzomat” delivers it all! Long-time fans of the band will appreciate the fact that the satire-tinged and versatile mix is very much going back to the roots of the early works of And One, newcomers will have to acknowledge that there is no better genre piece on this planet at the moment and those people that have always harboured a dislike for Naghavi and his band will yet again eat their hearts out for missing out on this masterpiece due to a severe lack of musical taste. Well… and those of you that love it longer can go for the deluxe edition in a super-double-Digipak with a tanz-o-matic bonus live album. To make a long story short: BUY IT! Released on Out Of Line and available April 3rd, 2011.

„Black Journey“, parts 1-3, are the beginning of a comprehensive anthology of one of the most important German Dark-Electro-bands on three separate double-CD releases. The band, fronted by Blutengel-mastermind Chris Pohl, has been writing Dark-Electro-history for more than 15 years and has recorded countless genre classics.

Black Journey 1:

The first part of the Black Journey contains a couple of long-deleted classics which have been selling for high prices at record fairs on a regular basis: “Black Past” and the two “Totes Fleisch” MCDs. Furthermore, the band has been opening the vaults to unearth a string of demos, b-sides and unreleased tracks to complement the release. Thus, “Black Journey 1” is an absolute treat for fans and will leave a lot of collectors rejoicing.

Black Journey 2:

The core piece of part two of the big Terminal Choice anthology is long-deleted album “Navigator.” Bundled with the rare “Venus”-EP, plus demo versions, b-sides and unreleased tracks, “Black Journey” is a feast for fans and novices alike.

Black Journey 3

The third part of the anthology contains the band’s two most successful releases to date: “Ominous Future” and “Menschenbrecher”, on which Terminal Choice infused their massive Dark Electro style with solid walls of guitar riffs, thus creating a hyperactive Industrial-Rock-inferno. The band has contributed some more demos and rarities to this release as well, making “Black Past 3” an absolute “must-have” for any dark electronic record collection.

On their debut album. Miss Construction unleash a dance attack consisting of salvos of subsonic bass and a wild mix of Tumor, early Terminal Choice and modern club sounds. “Kunstprodukt” contains 13 all-new club mutations, plus two fat remixes, one massive new version of the Terminal-Choice-classic “Totes Fleisch” and a rather deranged cover of Eco’s “Hass und Liebe”, a track that is still a mandatory spin in any reasonable dark disco. The album is fully loaded with Industrial Splatter Porno Pop… this is far from normal! Released on Out Of Line.

Red wine, candle light and Blutengel! Is there a better way to spend the cold and dark winter days than in a warm place listening to the gloomy melodic club sounds of the Berlin-based Dark Pop group? Their newest outing “Soultaker” sports an addictive title tune that has all the potential of becoming one of the band’s all-time hits, plus three more catchy new songs, topped off with eight unreleased remixes and alternative versions (including strong reworkings of “Engelsblut” and “Behind The Mirror.”) As a special bonus goodie, the release includes the disc “Live In Berlin”, featuring a blazing recording of the Berlin show from the “Schwarzes Eis”-Tour. Kept deliberately rough and untampered with, this CD conveys all the magic and glory of this very special evening, real “live feeling” included. This strictly limited twin album is released in a classy Digipak with two booklets at the price of a regular CD release. “Soultaker ” is the perfect winter warmer: a real treat for fans and Blutengel-novices alike! Released on Out Of Line.

Available on the Concert Live label, this new 3CD boxset from Killing Joke features pretty much all their hits and some new cuts. Recorded live in London at the Hammersmith Apollo. Available February 15th, 2011.

The second chapter of the trilogy “A Triptychon Of Ghosts – or: El Sexorcismo de Anna-Varney Cantodea.” It’s beautiful. It’s dark, it’s sad and it’s … – so beautiful. We have no words to adequately describe the enchanted music(k) of SOPOR AETERNUS & The Ensemble Of Shadows’ new release. Those of you, who are familiar with ANNA-VARNEY CANTODEA’s art, know that s/he (literally) plays in her own league. Generally speaking, her work is always like the forgotten soundtrack to a phantastic, gothic horror film that was never meant for a human audience to see … – and this album is certainly no exception: Building a bridge from the dark chamber-music of the transitory Death-suite of “Dead Lovers’ Sarabande” to the playful frivolity of “A Strange Thing to Say”, this highly anticipated second chapter of the trilogy »A Triptychon of Ghosts« marvellously captures the true essence of what once used to be called Goth, as our beloved Goddess ANNA-VARNEY CANTODEA is travelling on her lonely journey through the realms of darkness beyond the grave. – This is definitely THE BEST ALBUM s/he has created so far!!! ATTENTION: WE EXPECT these versions to be sold out VERY FAST. Released on Apocalyptic Vision and available April 29th, 2011.

The new SOPOR AETURNUS comes in several different editions, including 2LP Limited, as well as versions with and without the T-shirts. You can view all the versions here:

RE-RELEASE in ‘regular’ jewel box edition of the EP released in late November 2010 (and sold out immediately) A Strange Thing to Say” is part 1 of the trilogy -or more specifically- the opening chapter of “A Triptychon of GHOSTS (or: El Sexorcismo de Anna-Varney Cantodea)”. It’ a completely rotten (but otherwise fabulous) audio/visual documentary, staring the young & breath-takingly beautiful, trans-gendered Goddess ANNA-VARNEY CANTODEA in her most daring spiritual endeavour: a ghoulish struggle to purify her fragile mortal body, as well as the divinity of her ancient soul, of any and all dormant sexual desire (and otherwise related, inherently addictive or zombiefying behaviour and/or thought-patterns) … by boldly unearthing, externalising and eventually expelling its lurking demons. “A Strange Thing to Say” is without compromise. It has a dirty new sound. Recorded and co-produced by Patrick Damiani (ROME) “A Strange Thing to Say” now features 5+1 horrible pieces of freakish gothic music(k) by SOPOR AETERNUS & The Ensemble Of. ANNA-VARNEY CANTODEA is reinventing herself with each release, without ever losing track of her roots. But this time going much further than ever before: Back the roots and beyond… Released on Apocalyptic Vision and available February 25th, 2011.

Gary Ever since MANTUS broke the long silence in 2009 with their “Requiem”, the project resides in an era of unequalled creativity that bestowed two outstanding releases upon the Gothic scene in 2010 – the album “Demut” and the interpretation of William Blake’s epos “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell”. This creative epoch is continued in 2011: Not a year after the ambitious concept album, the ninth record “Zeichen” (“Signs”) is about to be set free. “Zeichen” captivates the listener already with the very first tunes of the enigmatic intro and proves with both powerful and melancholic songs how German Gothic has to sound in 2011. With massive guitars, wallowing keyboards, classical arrangements and the characteristic vocals of MARTIN and THALIA SCHINDLER, MANTUS strengthen their status as one of Germanys leading Gothic acts. And more than that: With “Zeichen”, they ultimately reach for the throne. The epic heaviness of “Zwischenwelt” with its dramatic organ and monumental choirs, the mellow, hypnotic spinet in the intense “Stille des Ozeans” or the moving title track – nothing less than a contemporary Gothic hymn par excellence – present MANTUS more versatile and stronger than ever before. Masterly, they transfer the very essence of thoughtful and philosophical Gothic ideas into the 21st century and clad characteristics like melancholia, gloom and misanthropy into a modern and contemporary sound full of passion and pathos. With a sense for deep-reaching lyrics and philosophical backgrounds always inherent to MANTUS, artwork, album title and subject matter refer to the Trojan princess Cassandra who foresaw the downfall of her city and whose prophecies fell on deaf ears due to a bitter curse. Transferred to our world and armed with antique symbolism, MANTUS denounce mans exploitation of planet earth and rise against the arrogance and coldness of our society. Will also their messages die away unheard? Even if this may be the case: “Zeichen” is the new manifest of the German Gothic movement – and MANTUS are its most fervent ambassadors. Released on Trisol and available April 29th, 2011.

He brought us the ‘Apokalypse’ and destroyed everything in order to build his own empire upon the world’s wreckage. The empire in which ‘Der Herr der Krähen’ sacrifices himself unto the ‘Träume einer Nacht’. But whoever thought that calm would return after the last battle, and who believes that the dreams of the SCHWARZER ENGEL comprise delightful pictures and contemplative sounds… is mistaken, luckily. Crows sit on the beam of the gibbet. The sky is black. Spirits, demons, demigods and the living dead wander through the darkness and meet for a crazy round-dance. With their latest work, SCHWARZER ENGEL raise the tempo quite considerably. Grandiose, emotive, epic, aggressive and totally berserk. These are the dreams which up until now were celebrated by bands such as RAMMSTEIN, EISBRECHER, SAMSAS TRAUM and ASP. Brutal metal riffs, drums like machine gun fire, bombastic orchestral arrangements and striking vocals with intelligent German lyrics. An album of epic proportions. An album full of power, fury, devastation and dark beauty. Full of breathtaking melodies and brimming with passion. The dreams of the legions of the ‘Herr der Krähen’ are nightmares. Menacingly beautiful, mesmerisingly terrifying, alarming and sinister. Creatures of the night who rise above the battlefields of the fallout and stage their wild round-dance. The ‘Käferkönig’ himself, Alexander Kaschte/SAMSAS TRAUM personally does the honours and along with SCHWARZER ENGEL creates the brilliant next big club hit, ‘Fieber im Blut’. Welcome to the dance on the ashes of the scorched earth. Welcome, you children of the night. The ‘Herr der Krähen’ welcomes you to his kingdom. Dream with him. Dance with him! Even if it is only for one night, this night will change your lives! Released on Trisol and available April 29th, 2011.

Absolutely amazing HARDCOVER-Book/Box-set for the recent ‚Grosse Freiheit’ Tour 2010! Released last year in Germany to be sold during the (completely sold out!) tour, this ‚set’ comes as Top Quality Hardcover book with EMBOSSED Cover, print in full-colour + special SILVER PRINT, 64 pages Fotobook + all lyrics to all songs on the 2CDs and 2DVDs! On April 1 2010, UNHEILIG played a sold out show at ‚Zenith’ in Munich in front of 5’500 fans. ‚Zenith’ is a protected Memorial and was originally a manufacturing plant for the Bavarian Artillery Works. Film director Martin Müller filmed the entire spectacle with various cameras on cranes, on towards and from the audience’s angle of vision. But that was not enough for UNHEILIG’s charismatic leader ‚Der Graf’: He also invited a complete camera-crew to the Unheilig show on April 17 in Cologne – this time under the direction of Markus Gerwinat. The result are two distinct full length DVDs that show the pure energy of one of the most powerful live-band around in Germany! UNHEILIG at their very best and on the zenith (so far) of their popularity! Released on Vertigo and available February 18th, 2011.

B2 Wait for Nothing (Froxy Vox Version 2010)

Nothing exceeds like EXS. Or so Brit-Industrial mavericks Uberbyte would insist.

Their third album stands as a defiantly differant, brutal beast of a record. Far heavier than their prior work and possessed of a supercharged attitude that propels their music into unexpected realms of twisted weirdness and aggression. Crunch Pod are happy to bring you what will doubtless be one of the most controversial and devisive records of 2010.

Citing punk ethics, Powernoise aggression and Electro grooves, Uberbyte have gone out their way to create an unpredictable collection of material that swaggers between the tongue in cheek and rip snorting psychosis. Raw and personal, and unwilling to play by any rule book, be prepared for a release that will pummel the listener into submission through a vicious streak unlike any other.

There’s never quite been a record like it. Economic and imaginative by turn, this is uneasy listening of the most disturbing kind. Powered by one of the scenes most deranged imaginations and leaking bitterness, rage and insanity, EXS is here. Prepare to feel the pain. Released on Crunchpod – now shipping!!

Captive Six is the instrumental and off-kilter alter ego of C/A/T’s Ben Arp.

While C/A/T has taken a purely vocal-based, EBM style with recent recordings, Captive Six snares the raw and harsh instrumental recordings Arp was originally known for.

Noizemaker is a re-contextualization of a track C/A/T originally wrote in 2004. Five years later, Arp tackles this track again from a different perspective. We have included as a bonus track *only if purchased on disc or digitally from Crunch Pod* is the original mix of the C/A/T track which is currently otherwise unavailable anywhere else.

Also included are the tracks “The Job”, “Shut Down Everything” and “Interrogation” which provide a glimpse of what to expect on Captive Six’s future releases. Now, go inside and make some more noise… NOIZEMAKER! Released on Crunchpod — now shipping!!

We are proud to say welcome to the Japanese psychedelic retro freak ensemble on our roster – with two releases (see also Ominous From The Cosmic Inferno) – and finally make available on CD one of the most captivatingly beautiful recordings from THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. line-up!

Motorik krautrock rhythms work side by side with interstellar signals, ghostly female voices and analog synths. Bursts of damaged psych brilliance and free guitars open and seal the album, healing the aural wounds for/from the mammoth droney, mysterious and transcendental ambient experience of the title track, built with the aid of a non traditional array of instruments, like sarangi, sitar, zurna and tibetan trumpet. Definately not of this world.

This is one of the many incarnations of the band, a combo also featuring, at the time of the recordings, the beautiful vocals of Cotton Casino and the appearance of Tatsuya Yoshida from Ruins as one of the special guests. As always, monster guitarist and mastermind Kawabata Makoto leads the troup to ensure a safer trip.

Originally released as an extremely limited 12” picture vinyl on Tumult Records, this extended CD edition features two extra tracks, new artwork – including a stunning psychedelic painting by Jason Killinger – and comes in our deluxe, custom old school miniature LP gatefold packaging! Released on Essence Music — now shipping!!

***** new from ARTOFFACT RECORDS!

After 2008’s zany “Meanwhile, Back in the Jungle”, Massiv in Mensch pull no punches on their sixth studio album, the aptly titled “Niemand weiss, was die Zukunft bringt” (Nobody Knows What the Future Will Bring). The album opens with an intro featuring the unmistakable voice of German actor Reiner Schoene (notable as the German voice-over voice of Darth Vader, as well as roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Babylon 5, and more). Schoene went into the recording studio especially for this release, so its a real treat for cult movie buffs. Also making an appearance is, adding a synthpop vibe and subtle harmonies to Massiv in Mensch’s killer sound. The album features a cover of the cult techno hit Die Kybernauten (recently back in the spotlight on a re-issue on German label Infacted) as well as a guest appearance from Kontrast vocalist Nebelgeist. Massiv in Mensch deliver 14 tracks of techno-inspired dance music without ever missing a beat! Released on Artoffact and available December 7th, 2010.
