“Confessions Of A Narcissist” marks the final full-length release by Fire In The Head ending six years of sonic warfare with an assault of manic, self-indulgent industrial electronics. Drawing as much influence from early punk / hardcore as from industrial / power electronics, FI/T/H was conceived as a cathartic outlet to explore and ratify the delusions and social perversions resultant of psychosis and the darker side of man’s conflicted dual nature, to fan the flames which engulf the borders between obsession, compulsion, lust and need. The tracks on this release were recorded in 2007-2008 and are the last of the “short, sharp, shock” vocal tracks which Michael abandoned in favour of “epic” length industrial / ambient compositions. “Ruins Of Morning” shows NADJA in a very experimental and dark poetic mood. Their contribution for the “Substantia Innominata” series comes in two long parts (around 20mins each) based around one musical theme that appears again and again (a great dark harmonic phrase moving through different levels through this epic track), linked by very beautiful drone-sections and more noisy outbursts. Song-orientation and a more experimental sound-art approach are thus combined perfectly. The fantastic lyrics from Aidan Baker point in a very poetic way to an utopian new morning where material values play no role anymore, but a new state of sensual being is settled in an almost J.G.BALLARDian way. These lyrics open up a scope of vague possible interpretations witch match up perfectly with the impressing music; a music that describes “The Unknown” in strong metaphors of surrealistic psychic states of being. This is something you could call a “dreamlike liaison”. When the Canadian “avant metal / drone doom” duo Nadja and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers Troum (years ago active as Maeror Tri) combine their exceptional styles, they form something even vaster as usually known from them. These three long collaboration tracks were recorded as a result of a spontaneous improvisation in April 2008 “live in the studio” near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany, and suck you in with their powerful and emotional drone melancholy that works in many micro and macrocosmic ways, using electric and acoustic guitars, bass, accordion, drum-machine and voice. For several years Ingo Sauerbrey made extensive travels through Indonesia, always carrying recording equipment to collect sounds as an audio diary. During periodic return trips to Germany, he started to work on the recordings with electronic devices. Some sounds were edited, cut and transformed, while others were kept completely intact. Water Puppet and Shadow Theatres, Gamelan and various welcoming and fighting dances like Kecak, Jegog and the Tarian Caci were used for this album. “Sama Sadja” weaves together the sounds of living traditions, religions and languages with spherical ambient pads and electronically edited drones from the field recordings. This is an contemplative and intimate soundtrack from the deepest heart of South East Asia.

The return of one of the most amazing industrial acts! The conception of of Czech ensemble Skrol arose from the visions of its spiritual father Vladimír Hirsch in autumn 1995, when he was joined by Martina Sanollová-Sweeney and Tom Saivon. Skrol employ original principles of composition, with the added depth of classical influences. Their inspiration derives mainly from Slavic melodic and harmonic systems. “New Laws / New Orders” was originally an instrumental suite of Vladimír Hirsch, created in 2000, later reworked alongside some unreleased pieces from 1996-1999. Skrol’s majestic and uncompromising music is based on specific melodiousness and orchestration of contemporary neoclassical music, situated in the arch of industrial ambient and brutalised by noises and modern technological sounds. This album represents the “swan song” of the band, being its last activity. Digipak.
