GOATVARGR | Black Snow Epoch CD (CSR126CD) £8 / £9 / £10
Shipping: Next week
The second unholy union of Lord Nordvargr (MZ.412, Folkstorm, Toroidh etc) and Goat (USA). Time, pilgrimages and bloodlines have been bourn since the first testament of Goatvargr was witnessed in this era of false knowledge. The first covenant of Goatvargr was baleful, lycanthropic and lethiferous. A rejection of the techgnostic kingdom and circuitry idols which seduce our era. The downfall of light has brought a world of coldness. This Black Snow Epoch is a time to honour our forbearers such as MZ.412 and the elements of flesh, wood and alchemical steel. Industrial loops and analogue keyboards merge with sheet metal and chains to create a solemn winter hymn where the cold steel stings your flesh. The wolf instinctively hunts through the frost, and the goat is blamed for human transgressions, yet during the Black Snow Epoch, the true hunters will pursue. Foldout poster cover.

FIRE IN THE HEAD | Confessions Of A Narcissist CD (CSR120CD) £10 / £11 / £12
Shipping: Now
“Confessions Of A Narcissist” marks the final full-length release by Fire In The Head ending six years of sonic warfare with an assault of manic, self-indulgent industrial electronics. Drawing as much influence from early punk / hardcore as from industrial / power electronics, FI/T/H was conceived as a cathartic outlet to explore and ratify the delusions and social perversions resultant of psychosis and the darker side of man’s conflicted dual nature, to fan the flames which engulf the borders between obsession, compulsion, lust and need. The tracks on this release were recorded in 2007-2008 and are the last of the “short, sharp, shock” vocal tracks which Michael abandoned in favour of “epic” length industrial / ambient compositions. Features guest appearances from Nick Blinko (Rudimentary Peni) and J. Randall (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), with exclusive artwork from Blinko.

AIDAN BAKER – ‘Blue Figures’ CD (Basses Frequences) – £11 / £12 / £13
This massive live album from Aidan Baker (Nadja) consists of two live sets (70 min+), one with ‘Figures’ and the other with an ‘Untitled Drone’ and ‘Gathering Blue’. Aidan Baker’s live performances are always surprising, not to say amazing. His previous live albums are perfect examples of what he is capable of when he’s on stage. You already know the songs but it’s always a bit different; there are variations, extensions, improvisations. Aidan dug in his own material to find a new vision… and you won’t be disappointed here! Last but not least, the sound quality is stunning. Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold carton sleeve.

ALLERSEELEN – ‘Rauhe Schale’ CD (Aorta / Ahnstern) – £11 / £12 / £13
“Rauhe Schale” (‘Rough Shell’) is the brand new album from Austrian legends Allerseelen, which fascinates musically as well as visually. Everything moves and flows in a field of force between industrial, metal, folklore and pop. Lovers of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Einstürzende Neubauten, Laibach or Underworld could also fall in love with Allerseelen. Gerhard Hallstatt sometimes describes his music as Electronic Folklore or Apocalyptic Rock. But basically there is no real description for Allerseelen – all attempts to find an expression for their music may be valid for some time, yet lose their meaning after a couple of months or years. The songs were inspired by various magical mystery tours in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia. Gerhard is assisted here by Dimo Dimov (Svarrogh, Miel Noir, Sturmpercht), Marcel P. (Sagittarius, Halgadom), Meri Tadic (Eluveitie) and Annabel Lee (Blood Axis). 70 mins. of music in a digipak with booklet.

ANDREAS BRANDAL – ‘Drive Home With A Hammer’ CD (Quasi Pop) – £11 / £12 / £13
This is the first full-length CD release by Norwegian noise artist Andreas Brandal. “Drive Home With A Hammer” is not ‘just another noise record’. Once you hear it, you will be  surprised by the unique sense of Andreas’ manipulation with interesting close-to-recognisable sounds. His skills in working with macro/micro audio-events helps him to create a powerful and impressive audio work using both vintage analogue equipment and modern computer tools. The smallest audio element that can indicate the way to the hidden layers and perspectives in sound. This album sounds very deep, organic and analogue, because  hisses, brutal tape loops and glitches are the constant ingredients of Andreas’ output. The structure of the tracks is clear and irregular at the same time, the music flows freely, but not quiet, because it is created with both composition and improvisation methods. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak.
ASTRO & CORNUCOPIA – ‘Deep Wind’ CD (Quasi Pop) – £11 / £12 / £13
The second collaboration between Japanese noise legend Hiroshi Hasegawa (Astro) and duo Cornucopia from Puerto Rico, though the first one released on CD. Each of the two artists has created a lengthy track from sounds by the other artist. A totally psychedelic record, often in extreme frequences and  dynamics. Features some of Cornucopia’s trademark pulsating sounds, while Astro’s track is and unstopable stream of deep, heavy and slow as hell noise magma. Physical, brutal and meditative – the pure beauty of modern extreme electronic music. Ltd x 500 copies in an outsized gatefold sleeve.

ATOMTRAKT – ‘Sperrstelle Nordost’ Enhanced CD (Steinklang) – £11 / £12 / £13
Two years after the highly acclaimed “Nuklearchetyp” album the mighty Atomtrakt are finally back with a new release entitled “Sperrstelle Nordost”. This new opus sets new standards in the Apocalyptic / Martial Industrial scene: Words like ‘bombastic’, ‘martial’, ‘heroic’ or ‘militant’ definitely need to be re-defined. The atmosphere of “Sperrstelle Nordost” is threatening and cold. It leads the listener back to times of war and truly hits like an atomic bomb. “Sperrstelle Nordost” deals with the situation of Switzerland in the 2nd world war / cold war – “Sperrstell Nordost” is an area in Switzerland which was of national importance for the entire country during times of war. The lyrics deal with fears, death, decay and ambiguity. The album features a superb video clip for ‘Trauermarsch’. 6-panel digipak. File next to Kreuzweg Ost or Triarii.

DONIS & KULGRINDA – ‘Sotvaras’ CD (Dangus) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
The joint project by famous Baltic ritual folk act Kulgrinda and a noble neofolk artist Donis. “Archaic Winter Solstice chants with profound and subtle musical arrangements. The sacred experience of the time, when the whole world gets restarted by the greatest and most enigmatic primal God. One of His manifestations is named Sotvaras. The new cycle begins with clear refined beauty ambient, followed by various folk instruments, tranquil atmospheric passages and really old pagan chants, carrying the eternal tale about the magic origin of the world. Now you can FEEL it”. 8 tracks featuring artwork with nice medieval designs.

FRÄKMÜNDT – ‘Urbärglieder’ CD (Percht) – £11 / £12 / £13
Amazing and unique debut CD of the Swiss Ur-Folk project Fräkmündt, born out of the idea to revive old sagas and nearly forgotten songs and atmospheres of the alpine regions of Switzerland. Performed in alemannic central-Swiss dialect, the songs on “Urbärglieder” simulate a journey through landscapes of the quaint regions of Switzerland. They let you chase through stormwinds with the wild hunt at mount Pilatus or stroll under the paintings of the danse macabre over the Spreuerbridge in Lucerne. One can meet the devil in the Schöllenen gorge and follow the alpine herdsmen during their sad walk down to the valleys in autumn. The album is alternated by two sound-accentuated sagas and two atmospheric pieces, letting one share the horrors of the ghost-house in Stans and the mythical ambiance inside the Mondmilchloch cave. On “Urbärglieder” acoustic guitars, accordion, violin, flutes and various percussion instruments generate melancholic melodies full of nostalgia, but also rousing hymns which invite to dance. With “Urbärglieder” a piece of extraordinary Ur-Folk music was born, telling in its very own way the stories that are almost forgotten. Features cz (Vinterriket, Atomtrakt, Nebelkorona etc). Deluxe digipak with 16 page booklet.
HROSSHARSGRANI / DEAD MAN’S HILL – ‘Dead Meat’ CD (Steinklang) – £11 / £12 / £13
Two-way split album – a great mix between Martial / Industrial / Ambient / Electronic and more. Five new Hrossharsgrani anthems featuring vocals by Bart Piette from D.M.H. and Pr. Sergiy from Moloch, as well as five new monumental epics from the master of Dark Ambient, Dead Man’s Hill – this time a lot more intense and song-oriented than on earlier releases. “Dead Meat” is the so far most mature and complex album of both artists. Composition, interpretation and design feel like a smack in the face and leave no room for compromise! Morbidity meets iron avant-garde, romanticism encounters the frozen coldness of metal! When will people finally realize: if you want to feel you MUST listen! Slimline DVD case.

LASSE MARHAUG – ‘It’s Not The End Of The World’ CD (Quasi Pop) – £11 / £12 / £13
On this record Norwegian experimental / noise hero Lasse Marhaug plays with the methods and traditions of serious electronic avantgarde that are integrated into the aesthetics of loud and bloody harch noise music. A damn hard, loud and overloaded skillful thing, but exciting and highly intelligent at the same time. Originally issued on Chinese label Doufo in 2006 as a limited release, this fully remastered version contains extra tracks. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak with new, stunning collage artwork and design by Lasse Marhaug himself.

LE TESTAMENT DE LA LUMIÈRE – ‘Echoes Out Of Time’ CD (Steinklang) – £11 / £12 / £13
“Echoes Out Of Time” is Le Testament De La Lumière’s second album and arrives more than 6 years after their debut album “Der Tod Ist Ein Treuer Kamerad” (Dark Vinyl). Le Testament De La Lumière is classic Dark Ambient with a strong Neoclassic touch and many Martial Industrial elements. The album creates a dense and sometimes even oppressive atmosphere. A monumental soundtrack born out of darkest ages. 15 songs and 70 minutes of music in a slimline DVD case.
LOCRIAN – ‘Territories’ LP (At War With False Noise / Basses Frequences / BloodLust! /
Small Doses) – £13 / £16 / £19
André Foisy and Terence Hannum have spent the last several years honing the Locrian sound. They’ve taken elements from noise, power electronics, drone, and black metal to come up with a truly unique sound reflecting the sprawling urban decay surrounding them in Chicago. For this release, Locrian has pulled out all the stops and fleshed out the band with the help of Mark Solotroff (Bloodyminded), Blake Judd (Nachtmystium), Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) and Andrew Scherer (Velnias). The results of this massive collaborative effort are apparent from the moment the album starts. The textures run darker and deeper; the vocals – sometimes three layers deep – seem to be conjured from the decrepit muck of a failed civilisation; the feedback takes on a more pronounced presence; and the big band allows for full-on black metal assaults that burst out of the tortured drones Locrian have come to be known for. “Territories” may well be the most fully realised form of Locrian’s dystopic vision. Ltd x 500 copies on black vinyl.

MOON FAR AWAY – ‘Minnesang’ CD (Ahnstern) – £11 / £12 / £13
Brand new album from cult Russian Neofolk act Moon Far Away! “Minnesang” is an album of 21st century ritual music encased in a unique fusion of the most diverse and zeitgeist-capturing musical styles, from neofolk, dark folk and post punk to practically future pop. The theme of the album, the deep-rooted feminine archetypes in contemporary art, is embodied in the title, which identifies a genre of medieval knight lyrics. At the same time, most of the original Russian lyrics on the album are drenched with the trademark Pomor flavours, emphasising the pride that the band has always taken in its cultural roots that extend deep into the epic traditions of the Russian North. “Minnesang” is a new milestone achieved by a cult group who already gave contemporary art scene a number of discoveries and revelations. This Ahnstern version has partly different artwork to the Russian edition and the last song is completely different to the Russian version. 61 minutes of music in a digipak.

PHASE II – ‘Afterglow’ CD (Ahnstern) – £11 / £12 / £13

STORMFÅGEL – ‘Eldvakt’ CD (Steinklang) – £11 / £12 / £13
The new album from Swedish Martial cult-act Stormfågel, known from their previous two albums on the legendary Cold Meat Industry label. “Eldvakt” is an incredible mix of early Derniere Volonte and Rome with a strong touch of new Blood Axis. Pure Martial PowerPop at it’s very best! Since its inception in 2004, Stormfågel is and has always been about the love of nature, our history, the absence of God and the decline of mankind. “Ja må vara en wavelmakare men int en happkråka…”. 72 minutes of music in a digipak.
THISQUIETARMY – ‘Aftermath’ CD (Basses Frequences) – £11 / £12 / £13
ThisQuietArmy’s fourth album is partially inspired and in respect to aesthetics by the works of German visual artist Anselm Kiefer – the setting of “Aftermath” takes place in the post-apocalyptic countryside and revolves around fallen angels as unexploded ordnances. In parallel, the compositions were also inspired by the sounds of crackling tubes and failing resistors captured by amplifiers during the recording process. Drones and melodies were built around these hissing sounds to create moods of tension and transitions from the remnants of destruction. These static interferences thus remained as important compositional elements, as if the whole themed-universe stemmed from a faraway buzz, in which the dawn of a new era reveals itself. With “Aftermath”, ThisQuietArmy manages to create the perfect light and heavy post-nuclear winter atmosphere, with a glimmer of hope appearing slowly like sun rays through massive dust clouds. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak.

– £11 / £12 / £13
Re-issue of the third album from Von Thronstahl! Originally released in July 2003, “Bellum, Sacrum Bellum!?” this classical album by the German Neoclassical / Martial Industrial legends questions the so called ‘just wars’ mentality of certain world leaders of the present day and offers Von Thronstahl’s usual mixture of neoclassical orchestration and beat orientated bombastic electro. AIDAN BAKER – ‘I Fall Into You’ CD (Basses Frequences) – £11 / £12 / £13

Reissue of the limited 2002 release from Canadian artist Aidan Baker (Nadja, Arc), originally issued on US label Public Eyesore. “Mixing drone with post rock and experimental electronics, this 5 track, 50-minute release takes inspiration from tons of different sources and stirs them together into one drifting mass of sound… heaving layers shift over one another like a Stars Of The Lid track, but instead of letting the washes go wherever they want, he introduces a very subtle beat behind it all… Combined, the first three tracks on the release are some of the best work in the area of drone and ambient that I’ve heard this year… if you’re a fan of drone and ambient music, definitely seek out this release, as Baker is definitely doing some great things (Almost Cool). Ltd x 500 with new artwork including lyrics.

ASMOROD – ‘Hysope’ CD (Steinklang) – £11 / £12 / £13

The 4th Asmorod CD is a fascinating, introspective, deep ambient work that distinguishes itself from the mass of uniform dark ambient releases. Niiko (now the only member of Asmorod) used the word Hysope (French word for “Hyssop”) as a symbol of spiritual purification. In ancient times, Hyssop was used for the cleansing of lepers (Leprosy may represent sin… but lepers were not necessarily sinful) and used for cleaning sacred places. It is alluded to in the Scriptures: ‘Purge me with Hyssop, and I shall be clean’ (Purify me from my sins, and i will be clean; wash me, and i will be whiter than snow. Psalms 51:7). Two tracks from the album feature choirs by eLL from Sui Generis Umbra. Digipak.

BIRCH BOOK – ‘Vol III – A Hand Full Of Days’ CD (Little Somebody Records)
– £12 / £13 / £14

“A Hand Full of Days” represents the culmination of a bizarre journey through ‘That High Lonesome Path’. A collection of songs and incongruous meditations find family with stark passage and psychedelic interlude. A dreamy masterpiece of perfect songwriting! Variously labeled ‘Wyrd’, ‘Psychedelic’ or ‘Avant Folk’, In Gowan Ring’s Jon Michael Beirth (or B’ee) extends his roots into poetic-folk traditions while cultivating an inimitable, self-attuned writing style that prefigured the new-psyche-folk movement. As well as composing the original material for Birch Book and In Gowan Ring, he collects renditions of traditional songs and builds many of the acoustic instruments featured in performances and recordings such as the recent lyre-guitar & leaf cittern. Gatefold digifile.

STURMPERCHT – ‘Geister Im Waldgebirg’ CD (Percht) – £11 / £12 / £13

First full-length album from this Austrian / south Bavarian Alpin-Folk formation on Steinklang’s Percht imprint. “Geister im Waldgebirg” is a journey through the deepest central-European forests and mountains with all their strange creatures, fairies, myths and legends. The sounds and lyrics on this album are engrained in old Pagan rites and cults, in hunters-legends and in tales from darkest woods and the people living there. the song styles vary from powerful Martial-Folk hymns, over fragile Folk-ballads, to weird songs about strange people and creepy animals. Features Axel Frank (Werkraum) with his perfect guitar, flute playing and his skillful hands in mixing; Allerseelen, Sangre Cavallum and Waldteufel. This album will be your closest friend in dark and frosty winter nights! 6-panel digipak.

VARIOUS ARTISTS – ‘Escaping From Color – Rapoon Recomposed & Remixed’
CD (Quasi Pop) – £11 / £12 / £13

The conception, the idea, realisation and sound sources of this CD are all based on original sound material (loops and sounds) from Rapoon’s “Tribal Sci Fi” release. Not the entire original Rapoon’s tracks have been re-mixed or re-composed, but the general “sound” (or the sound aesthetic of Rapoon’s music) instead. All the artists have provided their own original compositions, more or less based on the audio-sources from Rapoon: Aidan Baker, Anla Courtis, Cisfinitum & Rapoon, Family Underground, Francisco Lopez, Gert-Jan Prins, Heimir Bjorgulfsson, Jorge Castro, Machinefabriek, Mike Shiflet, Paulo Raposo, Ronnie Sundin, Steve Roden, Troum and TV Pow.
