ALISON WAIT – ‘Dove Esistono Solo I Ricordi’ CD (Eibon Records / Radiotarab)
– £11 / £12 / £13
Alison Wait (Filippo Spadoni & Alessandro Tusino) is the gift of the past. Remembrances of long gone days. Childhood memories amplified through the glass of melancholy. A journey hand in hand with what has been and will never return. Gorgeous, reflective dark ambient melts with ethereal guitars and lush synths. 8 fragments of the past, pieces of visions and faraway images. Come with us to the place where Alison Waits… Features a collaboration with Selaxon Lutburg. Mastered by Andrea Marutti. Outsized gatefold digisleeve.
BIONULOR – ‘Sacred Mushroom Chant’ CD (Wrotycz) – £11 / £12 / £13
Inspired by the work of such artists as Aube and William Basinski, Bionulor again rakes the past, looking for the most appropriate material for their work. “Sacred Mushroom Chant” was created solely on the basis of treatment of the human voice without additional sounds or instruments. Over 50 minutes of pure experimental music – minimal, ambient and even noisy sounds – created on the basis of author’s creative method called the “100% sound recycling.” Cover art by Monika Machnik, mastered by Peter Andersson. Comes in 4-panel digipak.
BIRDS BUILD NESTS UNDERGROUND & MY CAT IS AN ALIEN
– ‘Gramofonu = Voice Of The Universe’ LP (Love Nest / Opax) – £13 / £16 / £19
The first meeting of two improv acts, Prague-based turntable & 8mm band Birds Build Nests Underground and Italian psychedelic troubadours My Cat Is An Alien. Two different approaches to music make a sound that takes both from the unknown realms of the outer space and from the somehow-well-known world of old cracking records and the music and sounds on them. BBNU provided some of their live improvisations, MCIAA then chose those close to their hearts and laced them with sounds of guitars, space toys & ray guns, wordless singing and alientronics. Never has music of the spheres crackled so nicely. As if the whole galaxy lies on a giant turntable. The record starts with an exciting, ecstatic and excellent improvised speech by a Czech avant-garde poet Vítezslav Nezval who sees the whole world through his glass and the glass in the window of a recording studio. Ltd x 300 copies in a pro-printed sleeve.

BIRDS BUILD NESTS UNDERGROUND / RUINU – ‘Bohnice, Babí Léto, Scéna Polí5’ CD (Polí5)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
This CD was recorded in September 2010 at the Babí Léto (“Indian Summer”) festival in Prague. Two rising stars of the Czech alternative scene! BBNU’s track was created on turntables, manipulating the sound of vinyl records (percussion, classical music, marching etc), all perfectly looped and given the experimental treatment. The trio Ruinu used electronics, loops, vocals, trumpet, saxophone and clarinet to create original experimental music. Presented in a carton-slider.

CYCLOTIMIA – ‘Sci-Fi Music (Soundtrack To A Nonexistent Movie)’ CD (Shadowplay Release /
Zhelezobeton / Monopoly Records) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
As the title suggests, the new work by the Russian masters of electronic soundscapes represents a score to an imaginary sci-fi movie. The musicians are admirers of old-school Sci-Fi / Cyberpunk genres and for a long time they have felt a desire to make some music inspired by soundtracks of sci-fi blockbusters from 1970-80s… Spaceship battles, alien colonies, teleportation and mysterious droid ceremonies are only part of the images created by this music. The album contains both dynamic rhythmic “hits” and disturbing space ambient as well as avant-garde neoclassical pieces. Ltd x 500 copies.

CYCLOTIMIA – ‘TimeBank’ CD (Shadowplay Release / Zhelezobeton / Monopoly Records)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
“TimeBank” is a collection of exclusive unreleased compositions recorded by Cyclotimia from 2003-2007. A post-industrial “dish” containing cyber jazz and IDM, neoclassical and trademark technological ambient, old-school electronics and atmospheric new age, experimental and much more. Despite the seeming stylistic incompatibility the band has succeeded in creating an album with a spectacular plot similar to a good Hollywood thriller. A special jewel on the album is the track ‘Nocturne’ combining aerial melodies and uneasy sonic cinematography. Also worth mentioning is the “live” 10-minute prog-industrial suite “Economic Meditation”, imbued with psychedelic drama. Ltd x 500 copies.

FUNERARY CALL – ‘The Black Root’ CD (Fall Of Nature Records) – £11 / £12 / £13
Sepulchral, brooding Black Ambient from one of the most enigmatic and spectral entities the genre has produced. “The Black Root” saw it’s first edition as a very limited vinyl release in 2004 (Fluttering Dragon, Ltd x 333 copies), now completely remastered on CD with new artwork. Harlow MacFarlane went on to form Sistrenatus. Highly recommended!!

HAARE – ‘Funeral Of Souls’ CD (Freak Animal) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Haare is a well-respected Power Industrial / Psychedelic Noise project from Finland. “The astonishing ritual music of Finland’s Haare sounds as though it was commissioned by Mother Nature herself as the officially approved soundtrack for the creation… In Haare’s world, analogue synthesizers boil and simmer, Theremins shriek and funeral bells toll for some long forgotten calamity, as freeform bass and electric guitars wriggle and ancient cassettes half-caked with the detritus of untended playback heads struggle to project their sacred encoded messages… Beautiful, fantastic.” (Julian Cope). Two long tracks of Psychedelic Funeral Drone.
HANNIS BROWN – ‘Severe Insomnia’ CD (Lumberton Trading Company) – £10 / £11 / £12
“Severe Insomnia” the second release of New York-based experimental composer Hannis Brown, is a spine-chilling and unpredictable rollercoaster-ride of a listen. The 11 instrumental tracks run the gamut from musique-concrete tape collages and electroacoustic composition to works for chamber ensembles, orchestra, and solo prepared guitar. Inspired by the meandering and disjunct images that manifest themselves on the backs of eyelids during bouts of insomnia, the music is charged with an instability marked by atonal explosions of saxophones, sedate interludes of electronic and orchestral textures, and nightmarish climaxes of tone clusters. Folded card cover with insert.
K11 & PHILIPPE PETIT – ‘The Haunting Triptych’ CD (Boring Machines) – £11 / £12 / £13
The Haunting Triptych is a collaboration between K11 (aka Pietro Ribarbelli) and Philippe Petit. A haunted Drone, Electro-acoustic, Dark ambient soundtrack, giving an impression that some ghosts are lurking around… dragging listeners inside a world full of malevolent creatures. Three long drones full, not unlike some works of Lustmord or Nurse With Wound, the sound is heavy and claustrophobic and the downward spiral brings you to the final end, where the last sound you hear before losing your senses is the beast eating your flesh. Over 45mins of music in a spot-varnished ecosleeve.

K2 has recently had a resurgence with releases on Banned Productions, Cipher, Tochnit Aleph and Triangle and a track in the Zelphabet series. Here K2 provides the usual cut-up masterpiece he has been bringing since the mid-90s with four tracks clocking in at around 60 mins. The material is similar to “Ha Ga Ne”. Ltd x 500 copies with art designed by Alonso Urbanos (Scumearth).

KAZUMOTO ENDO & KAZUMA KUBOTA – ‘Switches And Knobs’ CD (Phage Tapes)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
The follow-up to the live recording on released on Noise Ninja in 2009. This material is a joining of two Japanese Noisers: Kazumoto Endo (Killer Bug) and Kazuma Kubota (Blood Letter, The Cracked Mirror) in their usual fashion – lots of starts and stops, blasts of sound and silence. 2 long tracks: 1 studio (25:50) and 1 live (18:36). Ltd x 500 copies.

LE SYNDICAT – ‘Propagation’ CD (La Nouvelle Audience / BKO Media) – £11 / £12 / £13
Brand new album from this classic French Bruitist group, who have been recording and releasing consistently challenging and just plain great industrial / noise since 1982. “Propagation” is subtitled ‘a psychoacoustic trip into sharpened Bruitism’, and was recorded at the groups Noisecraft workshop in Paris during 2009-2010. Ltd x 500 copies in digipak. Highly recommended!
MAEROR TRI – ‘The A.V.E. – Tapes / Live In Nevers’ CD (Zhelezobeton) – £11 / £12 / £13
Maeror Tri existed from 1988-1996 (members now recording as Troum and 1000schoen). Over those nine years they made a serious contribution to the development of the European post-industrial scene, focusing on the transcendental quality of sound, its ability to expand consciousness and to awaken timeless and non-personal spiritual experiences. They recorded their industrial drone ambient music with the use of guitars, percussion, tape loops, various objects and effects, turning everything in a coherent flux of unconscious drones. This CD contains the last unreleased recordings by Maeror Tri. Four tracks are fragments of the band’s 12-hour concert at the Audio-Visual-Experimental festival in Arnhem, Netherlands in November 1995; the fifth track is a part of their performance at the Musique Ultimes festival in Nevers, France in May 1995. The material was remastered from the original DAT tapes by Sergey Uak-Kib (Kshatriy). Ltd x 500 hand-numbered copies in a digifile with artwork by Vresnit.

MOLNIJA AURA – ‘Utopian Suns’ CD (Topheth Prophet) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Molnija Aura’s debut album is inspired by science-fiction themes and space-age relics. Consisting of six tracks created mostly with analogue and digital synthesizers, the album is a long and engaging journey through sidereal depths: shrouded in the darkness of immense and untouched vastness, beyond the great unknown, hovering in the void of zero gravity landscapes explored with slow and unreal movements. The uneasiness of silence and the absolute void of impenetrable gloom, the infinite and overwhelming distances, the fear of solitude and isolation, the anxiety of no return… And then the emotion of discovery: other worlds, unknown universes and impalpable beings, undefined and unidentifiable entities, close encounters, the unutterable and the unthinkable. Molnija Aura is Andrea Marutti (Amon, Never Known) and Davide Del Col (Echran, Ornament). Stunning Dark Ambient in the vein of Inade – recommended!
MURKRAT – ‘Drudging The Mire’ CD (Aesthetic Death Records) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Beautifully enchanting, yet tortuous, misanthropic, dark, harrowing doom from this Australian duo. Drudging The Mire contains repetitive, minimalist guitars, sometimes ritualistic, with sacred chants and slow, reverent drumming. Sprawling, dominant songs, with great lead guitar. This is clearly more of a work by purists for purists. The music presented to the listener is a tragic, lamenting march into the unknown. File next to Esoteric.

NORTHAUNT – ‘The Ominous Silence’ CD (Cyclic Law / Ewers Tonkunst / Indiestate Distribution)
– £11 / £12 / £13
Re-issue of a long sold out Dark Ambient milestone – the debut Northaunt album which first saw the light of day back in 2001 (Fluttering Dragon). “The Ominous Silence” is more musical album than its followers, with a lot of piano, guitar and synth melodic parts, like in the classical tracks ‘De Sorte Trær’ and ‘Pain Is Better’, but the typical Northaunt melancholy and dark gloomy Nordic ambient soundscapes are still there. This edition has completely new artwork, new mastering by Hæleif Langås and the bonus track ‘Funeral Inside’ (audio version). Ltd x 470 copies in a stunning embossed / spot-varnished mini-LP outsize sleeve with 3 inserts.

ONE DARK EYE – ‘Transmissions Of Fistulae Auris’ CD (Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Rodger Stella of Macronympha with his obscure experimental, yet crude noise cut-up´s. This is the re-issue of One Dark Eye’s 1994 Mother Savage Noise Productions tape. Macronympha source materials re-mixed by Rodger Stella 1994, and featuring some material from Mike Tetrault and Onomatopeia.
OVMN – ‘Optimum Volume Maximum Noise’ CD (Industrial Recollections / Freak Animal)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Another side project from Macronympha, this time from Joseph Roemer. For this first tape he re-mixed the harshest sounds from Japan’s renowned Thirdorgan and added the crunching equivalent of low-end noise from Macronympha. The result is relentless non-stop assault of excessive pain and damage. OVMN were one of the early protagonists of Harsh Noise Walls (HNW). Re-issue of the 1996 cassette (Mother Savage Noise Productions).
RAPOON – ‘Dream Circle’ CD (Ewers Tonkunst / Indiestate Distribution) – £11 / £12 / £13
Re-issue of one of the most influential ambient albums of the early 90s, Rapoon’s very first album, “Dream Circle” (Death of Vinyl). With its postmodern tribalism, its incessant chanting and dampened percussion and air of dense, subcontinental humidity, “Dream Circle” not only helped establish Robin Storey´s post-Zoviet France solo reputation, but inspired an entire generation of electronic artists fascinated by ritualistic and hypnotic repetition. It is both a transitional and a ground-breaking work, but has not aged a whit in the nearly twenty years since it first saw the light of day. Presented in a stunning embossed / spot-varnished mini-LP outsize sleeve with gold print.

SUBKLINIK – ‘Musik For Dekomposition’ CD (Fall Of Nature Records) – £11 / £12 / £13
Subklinik is Chad Davis (Torturecide, Mortuor). Since 1996, Subklinik has continued to create some of the darkest Death Industrial / necro-soundscapes in existence. Enter “Musik For Dekomposition”, the latest full length from Subklinik, featuring six torturous expressions that convey a foreboding atmosphere abundant with feelings of death, and isolation, manifested through a sonic vortex of analogue filth and decay. “Lo-fi, unsettling, and ultra grim, this immediately takes me back to the early-mid’ 90s and the heyday of the Slaughter Productions cassette scene” (Malignant).
SVARTSINN – ‘Of Darkness And Re-Creation’ CD (Cyclic Law / Ewers Tonkunst /
Indiestate Distribution) – £11 / £12 / £13
The second chapter from Norway’s Svartsinn. Gloomy and dark soundscapes collide with sad and dark melodic compositions. A collection of stories based on heavy mind struggles, emotional complicity or elegies which either leads to emptiness or dark places for a re-creation of the self image. Darkness is all around us or inside each and every one of us, let’s not fear it. 2010 reissue. Ltd x 500 copies in a stunning / spot-varnished mini-LP outsize sleeve with spot-varnished inner sleeve.

URFYR – ‘Lichtfeier’ MCD (Licht Und Stahl) – £8 / £9 / £10
Debut album from this fairly new project from the Nordrhein-Westfalen region of Germany. The music by this duo is entirely dedicated to Germanic mythology and heathen spirituality, as in this case, the celebration of the winter solstice. In their own words, they simply call it “runosophic ritual music”. Expect an exciting blend of Dark Ambient, Neoclassical arrangements and rather synth/guitar-driven Neofolk ‘n’ Pop songs, not unlike some earlier Allerseelen. 29 mins of music. Ltd x 300 hand-numbered copies in an A5 folded sleeve.

ALAN LAMB – ‘Night Passage & Night Passage Demixed’ 2 x CD (Dorobo)
– £23 / £24 / £25
RARE! Alan Lamb’s legendary ambient masterpiece! Lamb has found the most original way to make wonderful sounds that one can imagine. He puts contact mics on telephone wires. This CD contains three of his original recordings. ‘Night Passage’ and ‘Last Anzac’ were recorded on the Faraway Wind Organ, a half-mile of abandoned telegraph wires in the Australian outback. ‘Meditation on Spring 8’ was recorded in the mountains of Japan. The second disc is the album ‘demixed’ by Lustmord, Thomas Köner, Bernhard Günter and Ryoji Ikeda. The results are mostly soft sustained sounds but in some respects extreme. Extreme soft, for example, and extreme low. In fact, there’s a warning on the insert: “Low frequencies in track 4 may damage some speakers. Headphones recommended.” If you like to live on the edge, this may be it. ACT FAST!
CONTEMPLATRON – ‘Delog’ CD (Wrotycz) – £11 / £12 / £13
Second release from this Polish dark ambient act. The DELOG experience is extraordinary, marvellous, even within the esoteric context of Tibetan Buddhism. The Tibetan word DELOG refers to one who has crossed the threshold of death and returned to tell about it. The person who is recognised as DELOG lays without any sign of breath, pulse or body warmth for many days. During that his or her mind journeys to other realms of experience: the pure display of enlightened mind as well as existence within samsaric delusion and ignorance. Mastered by Peter Andersson (Raison D’Etre). Digipak.
OMENYA – ‘Ancient Rites’ CD (Purple Soil) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Omenya is Mark Davis, a multi-media artist and ritual noise/ambient musician who resides in a remote part of the North Carolina mountains in the USA. Heavily influenced by early Zoviet France and then later Rapoon, his music also reflects and incorporates his interest in the esoteric rituals and ceremonies of various world religions. The mood is rather solemn; the tranquil music invites reflection. The music never becomes wild or spectacular, just minimal, rather distant ritual ambient music. Organic and electronic means together create interesting ethno-ambient soundscapes. Packaged in a 6-panel folder with insert.
MICHAEL MANTRA – ‘D#m / Gm’ CD (Purple Soil) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
“D#m / Gm” is an album of extended ambient listening of sonic icebergs, slowly shifting over time. The album is based in ultra minimal atmospheric dronecore – an exploration into the dark unknown of sombre sonic states, of the mysterious unknown, leveraging changes in states of feeling and states of consciousness. Presented in a stunning 6-panel digisleeve with images courtesy of NASA. Recommended!
SHINJUKU THIEF – ‘The Witch Hammer’ CD (Dorobo) – £12 / £13 / £14
First part of the Witch Trilogy. A classic gothic industrial album paying homage to both German expressionist film of the 1920’s and supernatural horror from the 1500’s. Dark orchestral timbres set into rich soundscapes, interspersed with outbursts of violence and power. According to Darrin Verhagen, the man behind Shinjuku Thief, The Malleus Malleficarum, a 15th century treatise on how to identify and deal with witches, provided a central thread to what became a trilogy. Along with the other two albums in the trilogy this comes highly recommended! Textured card artwork.
SHINJUKU THIEF – ‘The Witch Haven’ CD (Dorobo) – £12 / £13 / £14
Third part of the Witch Trilogy. Dark post-classical compositions alternating between poignantly lyrcial and furiously dramatic, set amongst distribed supernatural soundscapes, and unsettling cinematic sound design. Blending the lush sweep of Raison D’etre, the epic grandeur of In Slaughter Natives and a surreal violence to his sound design closer to musique concrete than dark ambience, Shinjuku Thief’s 2002 album delivers on all counts. Enough touchstones to satisfy the audience’s appetite for familiar territory, but with enough risks to transcend cliche. This is a magnificent album! Along with the other two albums in the trilogy this comes highly recommended! Textured card artwork.
SHINJUKU THIEF – ‘The Witch Hunter’ CD (Dorobo) – £12 / £13 / £14
The second part of the Witch Trilogy and the thematic sequel to The Witch Hammer, threading surreal gypsy-like fringes to the classical/gothic blend. East European violin, reflective passages of brooding ambience and occasional moments of hope are undercut by sheer orchestral violence and a chillingly bleak filmic soundscape. Along with the other two albums in the trilogy this comes highly recommended! Textured card artwork.
T.O.M.B. – ‘Total Occultic Mechanical Blasphemy II’ CD (Fall Of Nature Records) – £11 / £12 / £13
Recollecting selected fragments from the past of one of underground music’s most mysterious and obscure forces, “Total Occultic Mechanical Blasphemy II” serves as an archival release of today’s leading Black Noise artist T.O.M.B. Resonating with a pulsing necrotic ambience and saturated in graveyard ritual noise, this is only for the most extreme of tastes. This album collects T.O.M.B.’s “Sacrilegium”, and “Black Crypt Worship” demos along with unreleased “Dungeon Sessions”. 20 tracks.
VARIOUS ARTISTS – ‘Untitled – A Tribute To Zdzislaw Beksinski’ CD (Wrotycz)
– £12 / £13 / £14
A tribute to one of the darkest painters of the 20th Century, released on the 2 year anniversary of his death in 2005. As his paintings were never titled, all tracks are unnamed as well. Special, exclusive, Dark Ambient tracks, inspired by the Polish artist from: Asmorod, Contemplatron, Desiderii Marginis, Gustaf Hildebrand, His Divine Grace, Hybryds, Inade, Job Karma, Kratong, Necrophorus, Svartsinn and Zenial. Limited to 750 hand-numbered copes in an outsized fold-out sleeve with a promo card for each artist, each featuring a replica of Beksinski’s works. Highly recommended!
