On 10.10.10, NYC-based industrial/electronic/experimental band DREAM INTO DUST released a new song called “Counterfeit” online in 6 different mixes plus a video.
The song was created from toy instruments, overprocessed loops and drum machines, analog synths, “circuit bent” plastic guitar, a hacked atari 2600, a bass guitar recorded on a cheap boombox, and vocals sung straight into a digital mixer. Besides the original, there is a darkstep mix, a breakcore mix [bryin dall], an EBM mix [angztek industries], a cold wave mix [prequel], and a powernoise mix [theologian].
DREAM INTO DUST is Derek Rush with Bryin Dall and various additional members. They’re known for a variety of projects in the industrial and related scenes, including A MURDER OF ANGELS, 4TH SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE, and Genesis P-Orridge’s THEE MAJESTY. The last album by this project was 2003’s ‘The Lathe of Heaven’. This online release is a teaser for the upcoming album. the new material progresses in a harder, more electronic direction.
