Title: Angel Liquor
Format: CD
Label: Divine Frequency
Rated: *****
Centrozoon is a German-based electronic trio revolving around touch-guitar player Markus Reuter (Europa String Choir), painter, synth and percussion player Bernhard Wöstheinrich (The Redundant Rocker) and singer Tim Bowness (No-Man). Since 1998, they have been delighting us with fine electronic ambient music and their latest record "Angel Liquor" contains five tracks spanning over one hour in lenght that cast a hi-pitched cloud-flavored veil of ethereal synthscapes and atmospheric guitar sounds. In this particular record, Tim Bowness' voice is either not present or has been treated, just like the guitar, to the point where you cannot even make out what the original source of the sound was. In other words you won't be hearing any singing and the percussive elements are also very few and far in between. This sporadically paced approach makes for a very cinematic experience that you'll probably best enjoy in a lowly lit and quiet environment. In other words this is not your average hop-on-the-train iPod record. Try to thoroughly enjoy these hovering and hypnotic thin-layered patterns and you just might be discovering and re-discovering new subtle nuances with every new listening pass.

Title: Live @ Teatro Miela
Format: CD
Label: Setola Di Miale (@)
Rated: *****
The first time I've heard about Stefano Giust was a while ago, I knew he was not just the man behind Setola di Maiale but also a talented musician, time flies and beside improving his improvisational/musician skill his label has been around for thirteen years right now. This live is the product of a trio recording featuring Giust on drums, Giuseppe Mariani on laptop/trumpet and Vito Maria Laforgia on double bass and amplified saw: a good hint referred to the experimental nature of the performance. Judging from the band name (it means sounds-image) this' should have been a music plus visuals played simultaneously. Sure it makes you think to some learned/classical rumorism read concrete/electroacoustic, but what's surprisingly good is the attention they have for improvisation meant as ?extemporary composition? (as Braxton and many others would define it). If it was not for the fact he mainly worked with composition, it brought to my mind some works performed by Andrea Centazzo and it means thumbs up for the trio!. This cd is soft, well recorded (is a live performance at last) and deep; every musician?s tension is in control while waiting for his turn. Suonimmagine's needle pierces silence carefully like a junky pierces carefully his harm when shooting heroine for the first time.

Title: Metamorphose
Format: CD
Label: self-released
Rated: *****
This is the new full length of one of Germany’s most talented newcomer acts in the wide filed of the Electro/Industrial genre. After having discovered this talented duo on some compilations on labels like Wire or the X-Cem community, they have here 14 track and over 70 minutes long CD, completely produced from the first note up to the ending product on their own. And the more I listen to this "Metamorphose", I ask myself, why this act isn’t signed until today. Musically they pretty much based into the Dark Electro/EBM genre, their style fits well with acts of the NoiTekk roster for sure. TACTICAL SEKT, GRENDEL or the new released US act LIFE CRIED come here as a possible reference to my mind. DVATION somehow presenting well this harsh Endzeit/Hellektro style of EBM/Electro, yes – they kick some of the established acts out of the field! The arrangements are filled with several interesting ideas, especially for the rich and detailed produced rhythm patterns. Add to this some rough and brutal distorted vocals – genre-typical I would say. They don’t take any prisoners for sure with the included favorites "Rotten, "Respectless – You Bitch" and of course "Smouldering Hatred". Please note also the fast paced "Razorblade Games" and the final and very dark piece here, "They’re Watching You". Again – I don’t get it why this act isn’t signed. What are the A + R managers of the big Industrial labels doing all days? Sleeping, maybe?Fans of the above mentioned acts take some bugs and purchase this great item from the source! A band to follow immediately.

Title: Feuchte Hosen
Format: CD EP
Label: ProNoize (@)
Distributor: Broken Silence
Rated: *****
Okay – this is for sure the fun-pack of the quarter! "Feuchte Hosen" (wet trousers – better said: wet slips, uuuhmmm...) is – of course – a part of a used voice sample maybe out of a teeny comedy. Released under the ProNoize label it shows already the musically coarse – take this sample and combine it with hammering and of course rhythmically Powernoise-inspired efforts. Ready done – Ladies and Gentlemen, here we have definitively the next CLUB HIT! Add to this some remix works created by well known scene-related acts like NOISUF-X and XOTOX, both also recording under the ProNoize wings, and also some remix works more dedicated to the classic Electro scene done by the well known [S.I.T.D.] and the label comrades of MECHANICAL MOTH. Yes, this track has more to offer then simply hanging in overdone distortion and endless monotony, nevertheless the genius of course is based in this voice sample. The man behind this project is Sebastian Stockdreher of the smoother project ANGELUS MORTIS and with AM INC. he presents us here his harder side of music ranging between Electro and Powernoise. Three more tracks can be heard, all of them are nearer to any Electro/EBM production than to Powernoise, but okay. The music is instrumental and is filled with voice samples. 8 tracks in all on this EP which should feature one of the most recognized club hits for the next evenings in the dark clubs.

Title: In Sedens
Format: 2 x CD (double CD)
Label: Deathkon Media / Vendetta-Music
Rated: *****
It was at first the idea to bring out an EP with a few remix works on the latest works of this classic EBM act hailing from the motherland of EBM, Belgium. Up until Tcheleskov Ivanovic, the man behind GRANDCHAOS learned to known Nader Moumneh, most of you surely better known under his Side-Line forum pseudonym "Electrofreak". With a lot of euphoria, his unbreakable dedication to old-school EBM and the intention to help Tcheleskov out by collecting some good and known acts presenting musically this required style of music, this EP has grown into a DCD on which both CD’s take a playing time of more than 70 minutes each. Nader Moumneh’s addiction for the only one and real kind of electronic music, old school inspired EBM, has made it possible that several classic acts made a step out the shadows some of them currently drowning in and we have here some not expected returns like the long missed German acts TRIAL, SERPENTS or ARMAGEDDON DILDOS. This is also the first official release of Deathkon Media, which is powered and published by Vendetta-Music, a US-based mail order service. I normally do not print the track listing into a review, if it’s not a compilation. But this DCD can be seen as a compilation, so take a look below to discover a lot of familiar of up and coming as well as veteran acts of the international Electro/Industrial scene. Of course it can be hefty argued if a DCD collection featuring a such a huge amount of remix works (...there are 12 (!!!) different remixes for the track "God Is Dead"...) makes any sense, but the idea and concept behind this release is definitively new and I can’t remember to have discovered anything comparable before. Also the few own compositions by GRANDCHAOS aren’t that outstanding in between the remix stuff, that I would tend to name them here. Regarding the bunch of tracks and so also the given diversity through the remix contributions, it is a bit hard to figure out the best tunes here. The already mentioned TRIAL get definitively a vote for their remix, because they added some addictive snare drums in their very own and authentic kind. DIGITAL FACTOR’s remix for "God Is Dead" also surprises with some biting bass lines, much more aggressive than expected. The French sensation NEON CAGE EXPERIMENT could lay their talented hands on "In Sedens" and also this piece drifts far away from the original. Muscle EBM is also rich featured, well done and produced by IONIC VISION, PANZERLAB, VOLT or MILITANT CHEERLEADERS ON THE MOVE. A lot of stuff here to discover, and I’m a bit nailed by the mass. Make sure to check this item out, if authentic old school EBM is your favorite stuff.
