The connection between the Canadian DJ and Electro/Industrial artist GLENN LOVE and the German Sonic-X label seems to be a constant one, since after his now more than 2 years olf predecessor "Belle Epoque", he releases a new studio work. After having toured intensely through Europe and America and with the grown impressions taken out of all foreign areas in the past years, GLENN now offers with "Cryptesthesia" an album turning musically more directly forward to EBM and Dark Electro music. The tracks have definitely received more speed and - surprise, surprise - contrary to his past album, he now has decided to sing. More than this, he also has learned German in the past and some first tunes with lyrics in this language are featured too ("Sagt Mir Wo" or "Schnee Von Gestern"). GLENN uses a lot of different FX manipulations on his dark sounding voice, although I tend to say, that he hasn’t found an ideal kind of procession so far – the vocals are the weak part in his general sound outfit and do still need some polishing. Best tracks can be named with the title track, the already mentioned "Sagt Mir Wo" and "Hang On", since they all should be able to keep the fans stomping. Not that bad work, and even more recommendable, since GLENN avoids it to jump on the already passed Hellectro-train. A bit more polishing work here and there and GLENN starts an assault against the throne of the genre.

This is the musically output of DJ Negative aka Sergey Losyakov who hails from Moscow, Russia. He presents us here with "R.I.P." which surely is meant a reference to the strange project name, his vision of electronic music and how it has to sound. Like several of his more or lesser known DJ colleges (ADAM X, GLENN LOVE...), also the music of _ROPPONGI INC. PROJECT offers a mixture of different styles which works well for the moment. Globally said there’s a decent EBM mood on this first debut CD and this is much appreciated. Not that Techno-inspired hardcore stuff of nowadays productions, more the finer kind of the old-school. But Sergey also understands it well to integrate some slower and more experimental-minded, like the Ambient-inspired track "Think Twice". Favorites I’ve found with "The Lost Train", a fine arranged Chill-Out EBM piece and the dramatically produced "The Ring", a real floor smasher. Several samples which got used in this track are taken out of the same named Japanese movie. Already with this well done debut Sergey demonstrates that there’s more talent than simply to scratch some vinyl records on the turntables. Keep it on, Towaritsch!

Already active since 1996 (and so we also have to celebrate their 10th year anniversary, congrats...), this Anglo-Dutch label leaded by both J. Hookens of JERICO ONE and Dave Escott (AWAX) returns with a double full-length CD set presenting rarities and special mixes out of their label program. Lately they could also get a distribution deal with the German Nova Media, so now their work and power will be spread all over the European continent. A DCD indeed has a lot of space to fill, so no real wonder, that several acts are here present with more than one track. Several "guests" are included here, for example the Alfa Matrix recording artist NEBULA H, the well known harsh IDM artist SOMATIC RESPONSES, or the artists of the German Sonic-X label SKORBUT, ANTISTASIS and GLENN LOVE. Bands also co-operate here often for mutual projects, so also this is responsible for a wide musically diversity. The music itself presents all known formulas of modern electronic-based music, styles ranging from Electro, EBM, Industrial, Synth Pop, but also Breakcore, IDM or Trance elements. Favorites can be named with the only one and real EBM piece here, "In Zenith" done by SKORBUT, then the very well worked out experimental tracks by ALIEN SIX, a side-project by Geoff Pinckeny of the UK Synthpop legend THE NINE. Almost well and with a rich amount of diversity is featured by the works of J. Hookens’ own project JERICO ONE, with 6 (!!!) contributions on the top. There is a lot of nice stuff here to be checked out, please read also the very informative introducing words by Amanda Lear and the rich give track informations. A release to follow without hesitation and an impressive start for this label to reach a wider recognition.

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Glenn Love is a sole underground musician and successful live performer at some dark raves in his home country. With this full length CD now released under the wing of the German Sonic-X label he presents his second official studio release. It is music based globally on Dark Electro themes which plays and combines with several different elements like Electronica, Trance or Ambient. Instrumental music more designed for some Chill-out areas than any straight dancefloors – I would recommend the use of a good pair of headphones. This CD features 11 original tracks done by Glenn Love plus two remix works constructed by ANTISTASIS and T.H. INDUSTRY to make sure a straighter and dancefloor-friendly attitude. The best tracks here are to my taste the more darker pieces like "Walking Dreams" because of the thick synth layers, and the easy-listening "Airships", which features some Trance elements. I like the own identity of the sounds and the ideas behind this project. This music is something special asides all hyped styles and trends. Congrats to the artist and Sonic-X for this courageous release – moreover because I think that any bigger commercial success will not happen in our "short-hair-rivethead" generation. I see it quite difficult to earn any recognition without the use of vocals – so is life and unfortunately an unwritten rule of the scene. Nevertheless it is nice and enjoying – I hope it will enter unforeseen success!
