What has initially started under the moniker WAVEFALL-light, has finally received a project name. SKAZKA is nothing else than a new side-project of one of Russia’s leading Electro/Industrial acts, WAVEFALL, in persona of Slava and Tat’yana. SKAZKA can be seemingly translated in some way into "Sounds of the Earth" and this translation works as a slogan for the both protagonists. It is in no way another harsh EBM-related sound outfit, but rather a document of the inhaled impressions both have reached while travelling the world. Arranged through a smooth and catchy Electronica-outfit, the chosen song titles like "Russian Field", "Ocean", "Mountain River", "Underwater World", or "Savanna" approving this precisely. This downloadable release, now newly signed to the Australian Tempest Recordings label and supported by the Russian Dead Channel, can be globally compared like this: what was INTERMIX for the Canadian cult-act FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, means SKAZKA for WAVEFALL. A genre-bending acting side-project, with the sense to differ completely according to the discovered works of the main project. Contrary to the rushing and aggressive mood of WAVEFALL, SKAZKA convinces with unexpected catchy harmonies, clear song structures, a well-done synth-play and thoughtful arrangement. Several field recording sessions out of mysterious places they’ve discovered through their travels, have been integrated and accomplishing the smooth and peaceful impression, which this music suggests. The tracks on "Fairy Tale" can convince with ambience, but they don’t fall too much into the Ambient genre, it all remains generally quite consumer-friendly Electronic-minded. A marvelous prove, that Harsh-Electro musicians can be wise and skillful artists – a must-have item!
