Released back in 2005 by Ladomat/Mute after five years from the previous album "Bieker", HOT WIRE MY HEART has now been re-released (without the Mute distribution) as a double CD containing the original album plus WE DO WIE DU, a CD of remixes, rare 12" and new tracks (you can find "Memories Can Wait", "Live At Sirius Prime", "Aranda (Lawrence Remix)", "Everybody (Lowtec Remix)", "Zwergenbrot", "Don't Pray Where You Slay", "Beautiful Music / Dangerous Rhythm", "Knartz IV (Abe Duque Remix)", "Fool Of The New City" and "Springfield"). The duo formed by Mense Reents and Jimi Siebels don’t simply play techno or electro music and "Aranda" is a perfect example of what I mean, because they took an acoustic guitar, a synth and made a beautiful psychedelic/melancholic song. For them there’s no problem into changing radically musical ground from one track to the other because you’ll recognise their touch anyway. If "Knartz IV" opens with a voice that tells "Oh no, it’s techno music" and the title song is a perfect example of a techno track, tracks like "Drehwinkle" has a good part of experimentation with sounds/structure that make you think that Egoexpress are something more that a band that make good tracks to dance to. There’s no doubt that "Braune Brücke" is techno, but try the closing "Links eine hand" and you’ll realize that the duo is able to make also good electronic songs with a punk attitude. If you are in need of a breath of fresh air, try this one...
