reMIXED is a compilation by OM records aimed at bringing back some of the hottest house/techno/lounge music by artists they've been involved with throughout the years. This means you'll find Mark Farina, Naked Music NYC, Afro-Mystik, Eighty Mile Beach, King Kooba, Andy Caldwell, Soulstice, Terra Deva, Ming & FS, Rithhma and Kaskade, all spinning moderately rare remixes by Miguel Migs, Marques', Thievery Corporation, Derrick Carter, Halo & Andre, DJ Spinna, Johnny Fiasco etc. If you get nostalgic on the dancefloor try this out, it's a little flat at times, but that comes with age...

Dutch dance DJ Armin Van Buuren has enjoyed a discretely successful career so far, with the release of his debut album "76" on United, a bunch of readers poll top ten rankings and other nominations. Although he releases stuff on his own laben Armind and landed a deal with AM:PM in 1999, his new double disc comes out on the NYC Lower East Side based label Ultra records, and features mixes by Mark Otten, Solid Globe, Whirlpool, Three Drives, Airwave, Kyau vs. Albert, Fictivions vs. Phynn, Perpetuous Dreamer, Active Sight, Super 8, Oceanlab, Robert Nichson, Perry O'Neil, Valentino, Michael Burns, Peter Martin presents Anthanasia, St. John vs. Locust, Remy & Roland Klinkenberg, Solar Stone vs. Scott Bond, M.I.K.E. presents Fascinated, Mono, Envio, True Form, Artic Quest, Terry Bones vs. Fred Baker present Water Planet + a track he wrote himself featuring Justine Suissa. His dance/trance sound is made up of long pads backed by strong beats and relies heavily on ethereal atmospheres and airy synth layers. You can hear influences of the maestros of ethereal voyaging trancey music such as Tangerine Dream, Jean Michael Jarre, Sasha, Chicane, Paul Van Dyk and other declared influences such as Ben Liebrand and Digweed. Of course this album is custom tailored for the tribes of dancing folks on acid but works on the radio as well and is easy to listen and groove to. The album comes out today and Armin will launch a North American tour on April 1st. Queue up.

Two long mix tracks on the cd is by two different djs doing their music mixing thing. First is Diablo, who is held out of Las Vegas, and then the next one is by Chad Will. 70 minutes of dance floor electronica grooves that will move your body. Tune in to the internet radio and get the joy and high energy positive mind blowing club dance music by different talented djs.

It might sound limitative to always compare all the ambient/drumn'n'bass/breakbeat (or breakcore, like I:GOR likes to define his music) to the british master of all masters of ambient music with the distorted face, but believe me, whether you like it or not, it is really due in this case. Yet we are not dealing with a derivative act that mimics the pioneers and has nothing personal to offer. Polish producer I:GOR stirs it up with glitchy industrial-noise and crazy drum'n'bass, so it's until he doesn't reach for those long vangelis-type aural synth-pads it's actually almost like listening to a Prohibited Beatz night with Jojo Mayer/Nerve. Departing from the drunken bedroom ambient-core and stepping into a clubly scenario of smoke and laser lights, I:GOR takes you all the way from low-key atmospheres to chemical nirvana. This is d'n'b/breakcore at its best! The CD comes in a 3 panel digipack with 17 tracks including remixes by Dj Kero (Shitkatapult/Low Res) and CDataKill (Ad Noiseam).

After their debut on Wall of Sound, The Strike Boys are back with their third album "Playtime" (second on the german label Stereo Deluxe), which includes a bunch of funky-ass breakbeat club tunes that will make you bounce.Thirteen tunes featuring special guests Danish reggae-dubber Emo, 21 years old female Mc Blaze, Ballet Nuernberg dancer Cyrena Dunbar, Eddie Greeme and Malente.Groovy electro-funk with soul and ambient influences. Luscious, shaking, trippin tunes that are easy and pleasing to listen to. If this won't be a home run the boyz definitely hit a strike in the club scene.
