IT'S DARK BUT IT'S OK is the debut album by New York/Berlin group Notic Nastic. The thirteen songs of the album are kinda linked, because they talk about the different phases of a girl's grew. Not much a teenage sort of thing but more likely a collage of different life's moment. Characterized by a rich texture of treated female vocals, the album mix electro pop, punching distorted rhythms and dark instrumentals, covering a good variety of musical moments. Electronic pop tunes with nasty sounds and obsessive rhythmical parts are packed up to make you appreciate bouncing sounds as well as catchy melodies. Try for example "Stupid happy", "The luckiest pig in Albany" or the great "Das disk" and you'll realize that Notic Nastic are really good at composing dancey dark songs with minimal sounds (mostly a fat bass line/drums plus distorted layers here and there that enrich the final result). You can check every track at Shitkatapult's website. Be sure to visit that page!
