Krankhaus & Surgically Atoned
I think almost everything is said and done about Australia’s female/male duo ANGELSPIT and their extra-ordinary last years’ release "Krankhaus". If not, please feel free to check back this review:

New is, that the US-based label Dancing Ferret (among others CRUXSHADOWS...) has made a license deal with them to bring out a special and limited edition of "Krankhaus" which features a second CD "Surgically Atoned". Like the title suggests, you’ll get here another ANGELSPIT full-length CD featuring 15 alternative versions or foreign remix works by internationally renowned artist. And of course, the well chosen army of remixing artists out of very different music styles wont leave you unimpressed – this review is required. COMBICHRIST opens the disc presenting their 110 % Fucked Mix of "100 %" as expected without any guitar sound. A good and satisfying remix work in their known Electro/TBM style, while not that outstanding. That also New Zealand’s THE MERCY CAGE would resist to include guitar riffs on "Create Desire" surprises me even more – but it proves the talent behind this act. For this track they also created a second and different remix, which concludes this CD. Guitar riffs aren’t also unknown for the US act DIVERJE leaded by DSBP label chief Tommy T Rapisardi. But also he has completely ignored this element and has transformed "Make You Sin" into a pounding Dark Electro tune, which I would qualify of being one of the best works here! STROMKERN is another prominent act here and their remix of "Wreak Havoc" is maybe the first one totally dedicated to some US-Coldwave influences – the Rap-like vocal performance of Destroyx doing the best to support this. Still sad that the Australian duo of TANKT has recently called its quit – their remix on the charismatic "Juicy" is another fine tune. ANGELSPIT themselves have also contributed two alternative versions on both tracks "Wolf" and "A La Mode, A La Mort" – still that harsh and explosive attitude like expected. Another outstanding work you’ll get to hear from THE CRYSTALLINE EFFECT and their revamped version of "Get Even", which is to me one of their best tunes on the original "Krankhaus" CD. I’ve seldom heard this duo that straight oriented like here on this remix, congrats! Straight and linear, this are also the contributions of ANGEL THOERY aka Charles Fenech. Very EBM-oriented without falling into any cliche it fulfills all expectations. NONPLUS likes as expected to add the term noise in their remix version of "Scars And Stripes", while the vocals are reduced into the back. Finally we’ve two remix works by the relatively new act THE TENTH STAGE, from which my dear comrade Maurizio could review recently the debut CD. A lot of valuable stuff to discover also on this limited second, which also works well as another promising introduction to the work of ANGELSPIT, as well as the Australian scene collected under the roof of the Crash Frequency community.

1. 100% - Combichrist Remix
2. Create Desire - The Mercy Cage Remix
