This German act returns with a new EP providing five remix works by different artists and four new tracks. Musically CEPHALGY are often walking on the thin line between genius and insanity simply alone with the try to combine Dark Electro with Goth/Wave. For the Goth/Wave listeners this acts sounds too electronic-minded, while the rivetheads don’t like that "bone-licking" image, also provided through the mostly German lyrics. Musically somewhere on the lighter side of Electro/Industrial music, mostly well arranged, at times orchestral-like arranged, lyrically near to that BLUTENGEL success formula without the singing beauties, of course. The male vocals are provided by Jörg Göhler and remind me somehow on some CALVA Y NADA tunes – maybe not unintentional. It fits, that BLUTENGEL provide here a remix on CEPHALGY’s underground evergreen "Engel sterben nie". Other remix works are provided by GINTRONIC, LOST AREA (an up and coming new German act – soon more about them...), the old-school EBM act TO AVOID and the Fearsection-recording artist STAUBKIND – with the one exception BLUTENGEL a surprising list of more unknown names – finally a good initiative not always to include the generic remixers in crime. STAUBKIND also include some Goth-Rock guitar riffs on their remix of "Zum Abschied", which fits very well with this track and the influences CEPHALGY is woven in. For the new tracks, the more demanding "Mein Glaube" gets the vote of being the best out of four good tracks. As I said - always to discover the lyrical content of some angels, darkness, vampires or religion-inspired things provided with a raspy male voice is a matter of taste. It requires a melancholic mind to bear this without any interceptions. Musically no wishes will remain unfulfilled if you’re looking for some lighter Electro/EBM/Industrial stuff.
