Welcome to our weekly round-up of forthcoming releases. Please note that our main suppliers close down for the second and third week of August for their annual holiday and we will not be able to re-stock during this period. As such, we will take a well-earned break during this time and will not be able to ship any orders for 7-10 days. Normal service will resume when we both have a suntan!
MINISTRY’s 2004 release “Houses of the Molé” received critical acclaim from both media and fans worldwide. “MiXXXes of the Molé” serves to pick up where Molé left off – each re-recorded, re-mixxxed and re-mastered track spicier than the last! “MiXXXes of The Molé” is destined for dancefloors all over the world with its punchy metal grooves and way-too-heavy bass lines!
“Peaceful Snow/The Maverick Chamber” is the new 7″ vinyl from DEATH IN JUNE. The two songs are the first new material to come to light since “The Rule of Thirds”, offering not only the same radical departure from more complex song arrangements as on the previous album, but this time also a departure from the use of acoustic guitar. Instead the instrument chosen to accompany Douglas P’s voice is the piano. This edition of the single is limited to 880 numbered copies and comes pressed on pink vinyl, with a lyric sheet/insert and three postcards.
“Kaltenberg MMX”,The brand new production by the ‘Kings of Minstrels’, features fifteen audio tracks plus bonus video material. The audio part of the CD includes the fans’ most popular songs from CORVUS CORAX’s vast repertoire from over 20 years of history, in all new versions. Additionally we find the brand new, exclusive track “Die Klage” and two live recordings. The video material features the “Cantus Buranus” performance in Guangzhou/China from 2008.
“La Vie Electronique 7″ from KLAUS SCHULZE is the next in this 3CD series, and features “Re: People I Know” from his Düsseldorf concert on the 30th of September 1977; “Avec Arthur”, a 1979 piece with ARTHUR BROWN; “Crazy Nietzsche”; “The Future”; “My Virtual Principles”, with its abstract but beautiful sounds; and “Die Erde ist Rund”, taped during the 1979 tour.
After the release of their seventh studio album “Further” in June, THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS bring you the next single release as a 12″, which includes sought after remixes of “Swoon” by BOYZ NOISE and LINDSTRØM + PRINS THOMAS, plus the fantastic POPOF remix of “Horse Power”.
With the Hamburg-based two-man project ZERO DEFECTS’ first single “Durability” (which featured the massive hit “Duracell”) the band managed to get their breakthrough with the outstanding album release “Non Recyclable”. Under the flag “Duracell” INFACTED now brings a massive ‘best of’ CD with all their major hits, some rare compilation tracks, and two never before released mixes!
MIDNIGHT CONFIGURATION have always defied categorisation, flouting musical and social conventions, going after their own vision and dancing to the beat of their own particular drum. “The Unquiet Void” is the distilled essence of what makes this band tick. It is a journey through the ideas and motivations of the band and takes the listener to some very dark places indeed.
One of the most iconic 80s pop bands, CULTURE CLUB racked up seven consecutive Top 10 hits in the UK and went on to score five Top 10 albums. “The Greatest Hits (Sight and Sound)” is a collection of all the hits, as well as all of the promo videos, a band interview and live performances on an accompanying DVD.
And finally, two compilations from METROPOLIS. “Metropolis: Rebirth 1.0″ is a two-disc set with the first disc featuring many of the labels best electronic and industrial artists, while the second disc contains some excellent rock bands. This unbelievable compilation features VNV NATION, ELECTRIC SIX, KMFDM, GRENDEL and THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE. “Metropolis: Rebirth 2.0″ is a single CD with artists including COMBICHRIST, WUMPSCUT, SEABOUND, IAMX and VELVET ACID CHRIST.
Re-issues
KIRLIAN CAMERA’s 2006 re-release “Erinerrung”, the classic album with three bonus tracks, will be available again in September, as will ATARAXIA’s “Nosce Te Ipsum”, “Lost Atlantis” and “Saphir”.

Review ExtremOcidente proudly announces the imminent release of DEATH IN JUNE’s “Peaceful Snow/The Maverick Chamber” 7″ vinyl. Review “Re: People I Know” is the first of the two long pieces that Klaus played during his Düsseldorf concert on the 30th of September 1977. It’s similar to the highly valued piece that KS played around the same time in Brussels’ St. Michaels cathedral. “Avec Arthur”: During the lengthy 1979 tour, Klaus played a long solo piece that filled the first half of the concerts as usual. After the intermission, the singer ARTHUR BROWN joined him for the second piece. This is one of those energetic second halfs. Arthur could be, and was often, very high-spirited, very good, even excellent. “Crazy Nietzsche” is loosely based on Klaus’ well-known “Friedrich Nietzsche” title from the “X” recording session. The four tracks that form “The Future” are from around 1978. A grave, full-sounding masterpiece. The music reminds of “Dune” but it is without the usual cello sound of this classic album. Hear Klaus on vocoder at the very end in “Just Imagine”. As KS remembered, the music of “My Virtual Principles” with its abstract but beautiful sounds was an alternative attempt at the “Barracuda” film soundtrack which wasn’t used then. And finally we have “Die Erde ist rund”, taped during the 1979 tour, the ‘encore’ to the concert given in the German town of Koblenz in October of that year. Review MONA MUR and EN ESCH collaborate on Brecht/Weill numbers to create industrial bliss! MONA MUR, extravagant vocalist, composer and sound designer, gained a reputation on the international avantgarde scene by collaborating with artists such as EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN, THE STRANGLERS, YELLO and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. EN ESCH (formerly of KMFDM, production for PIGFACE), a legend in his own right, is the mastermind behind the industrial-rock outfit SLICK IDIOT. Together, the two create an eclectic blend of chanson, indie rock, and avantgarde darkwave. Their album features several Berthold Brecht/Kurt Weill classics, as well as guest appearances by FM Einheit of EINSTUERZENDE NEUBAUTEN and a special remix by STEVE MORELL. Review “Sigh of Ages” is the result of extended periods of solitude and personal reflection for acclaimed composer ROACH. Resulting directly from dynamic personal and cultural events, these pieces developed over time and in the moment. After ten months of early morning and late night sonic meditations, ROACH collected these various pieces together and found they portrayed a poetic theme of sonic interpretations from this experience. Sculpted and refined in the artist’s deft hands, the source material of life itself took on a voice that spoke from a deep emotional well of subtle contemplation. A sacred realm of inner reflection. While the passage of time and expansive breath is an ongoing theme for ROACH, the reflections and perceptions expressed on “Sigh of Ages” delve into a contrasted intimate space only accessed in times of solitude. Review What future are we heading for? This is the troubling question is posed on COLLAPSE’s new album. The two members of of the band, Amadou Sall (former bassist of TREPONEM PAL) and Pierre Gutleben, have succeeded over the last few years in mixing electronic influences, industrial sounds, harsh guitar riffs, dark vocals and the use of ethnic samples to create a new crossover identity. Amadou has always punctuated his work with references to many cult movies such as “Logan’s run” and “Planet of the Apes”. Today it seems clear, that reality has caught up with fiction. But as if to ward off bad luck, the music of COLLAPSE sounds more futuristic than ever! Indeed, after the cold-wave tones of the previous album “Embryo”, new electro-industrial sounds have been incorporated, and while “Embryo” was haunted by the ghost of JOY DIVISION, now it is rather the shadow of VNV NATION (“Judgement”-era) that hangs over “In Despair”. Resolutely turned towards the future, the new album picks up the key elements of previous accomplishments with increasingly fluid vocals and even more direct melodies than ever. The music of COLLAPSE continues to evolve, without denying its strength and its uniqueness. At a time when the survivors of the first wave of French industrial rock can be counted on the fingers of one hand, it is good to see that this band is among those who have never given up, and continue to renew themselves without losing inspiration. Review This is the first full-length album from Tony Wakeford’s new-look ORCHESTRA NOIR since its resurrection as a London-based project, with a move away from the martial and towards musicians and compositions more based on chamber and early music. This collaboration started in 2006 between Wakeford, CURRENT 93 contributor Richard Moult and acclaimed oboist Mark Baigent, and the project quickly flourished. Acclaimed early music violinists and viola players, Ben Sansom and Alexandria Lawrence also became involved. With the addition of SOL INVICTUS percussionist M and flautist Guy Harries, a synthesis of the experimental and traditional took place, with unhealthy dollops of Edwardian dark whimsy, humor and satire. Review “Worn Thin”, the first full-length from New York’s WEEP, takes their aggressive and firmly pop-structured songs to a place of heightened grandeur. Sweeping choruses, horn-driven verses, and lush production work seamlessly with WEEP’s guitar and drum-driven sound. At times the listener is reminded of “The Head on the Door”-era CURE enjoying the strange bedfellow of CATHERINE WHEEL or PLACEBO. WEEP’s pilot, Doc Hammer (incidentally the same Doc Hammer who co-created Cartoon Network’s The Venture Bros.), brings his uniquely raspy vocals to the front on this release creating a bizarre but not unfamiliar kind of New Dark Pop. On “Worn Thin”, WEEP maintains their hard edge and generate a sound filled with loosely-bridled emotions and powerful rhythms. Doc explains: “This is the record we wanted to make. It’s almost like a reactionary antidote to what we’re sick of in music. That dry, low-tech production of the past ten years is tiring. It’s in its footy pajamas, and it needs to take a nap. We wanted something lush and dramatic for the songs on ‘Worn Thin’. They usually relegate that kinda over-the-top production to LADY GAGA. But believe me, it works really well with a messy little band like WEEP.” The album also features cover versions of “Right Here, Right Now” by JESUS JONES and “Shut Up and Drive” by RIHANNA. Review Already known in Japan for their remixes of BLOOD and GPKISM, Australian duo SHIV-R are a new force in the field of dark electronic music. DWA’s Japanese Limited Edition of the debut album “Hold My Hand” features four previously unreleased exclusive bonus tracks, including specially commissioned remixes from DWA/Infacted labelmates XP8, REAPER and SOMAN, as well as the original track “Clear Thoughts”. Their official debut “The Human Parasite” is a strong contender for harsh EBM album of the year: relentlessly brutal beats and violently distorted vocals, mastered by the legendary Jan L of NOISUF-X/X-FUSION. Review With “Retro”, IN MY ROSARY close the circle, eighteen years after their formation. Having tried all possible variations on their IMR concept in the past, Ralf Jesek and Dirk Lakomy now return to their origins with this album. “Pathetically speaking, and after trying out the boundaries of our concept, it was simply time to turn back to our ‘radical’ roots. No compromises!” IMR thus returned to their original way of working: all the demos were written with only vocals, guitars and a four-track recorder – and this ‘stipped down’ concept can also be found on the final recordings, on which the band limited their equiment to a stereo-rhythm machine, two keyboards and a few guitars. “Retro” is therefore the result of an experiment, a ‘looking back to our roots’ for IMR. Another novelty is the fact that on this album the two musicians worked with a large number of guests including SARA NOXX, CHRISTIAN DOERGE and STAN_I (from the Russian gothic band STILLIFE) on vocals, while the English psychpop guru PAUL ROLAND honoured the band with his first ever guitar solo. These recordings – now completely remastered – are being reissued in a series of elaborate editions, each containing three CDs in a high-quality digipak, including a booklet with detailed background information and comments. “La Vie Electonique” volume 5 contains recordings from the years from 1976 to 1977. “Berlin Schöneberg” was recorded in 1976 at a Berlin radio concert, “Vie de Rêve” is a concert from the same year, recorded in Reims in France. “Nostalgic Echo” and “Titanische Tage” are solo concerts from 1976. A year later “For Barry Graves” was recorded – a short concert for the West German radio broadcasting show Music Extra 3. “The Oberhausen Tape” is a concert from 1976 (the second part of this concert is on “La Vie Electronique 6″). Disc 1 contains the second part of the Oberhausen concert featured on “La Vie Electronique 5″, plus the two solo pieces “Schwaensee” which were recorded in 1976 in the studio in Hambühren. “Fear at Madame Tussaud’s” was recorded in April, 1977 in the London planetarium – at that time a novelty, for it was the first time that a concert had been held in a planetarium. “Zeitgeist” is a concert which was recorded on October 17Th, 1977 in front of 5500 people in the Cathedral of Saint Michael in Brussels. “Inside The Harlequin” is the encore of this evening. The recording date of “La Vie Secrète” cannot be exactly determined any more. Recorded either in 1977/78 or 1975 this piece remains a very quiet, almost meditative jewel. In contrast to this stands “Barracuda Drum”, recorded around 1978 with Harald Grosskopf on drums. Last but not least at the end of the third CD we encounter the KLAUS SCHULZE of 1979: in October and November of that year Schulze was on tour with ARTHUR BROWN. “There Was Greatness in the Room” is a fragment of the encore of a concert from October 29th 1979 in Brussels.
