ANNI HOGAN | Mountain CD / DVD DualDisc (CSR132CD) £14 / £15 / £16
Shipping: 30th June
An artistic collaboration between musicians Anni Hogan, Robert Strachan and Itchy Ear, film maker Bob Wass and mountaineer Cathy O’Dowd. Hogan and Itchy Ear originally worked on a series of piano pieces inspired by Rene Daumal’s ‘Mount Analogue’ and the superior wisdom of mountains, using O’Dowds Himalayan conquests for particular authentic inspiration. Robert and Anni used these pieces and the Himalayan peaks as a template for painting a soundwave soundscape around the piano compositions. O’Dowd performed a fascinating monologue over the piece ‘Deathzone’. The ‘Mountain’ film was created by Bob Wass from Cathy’s original film footage of her Everest expeditions.

SKULLFLOWER | Fucked On A Pile Of Corpses CD (CSR151CD) £8 / £9 / £10
Shipping: 27th June
The most remorseless, brutal Skullflower ever! Alternating between granular lo-fi primitive rock and granular lo-fi primitive Power Electronics, this taut disc is a chain mail glove of hate to any lazy minds who’ve tainted the air with describing Skullflower as ‘psychedelic’. But that’s not to say this is an all out total assault. There are also moments of tender acoustic balladry, its just that they don’t exist. The remorseless brutal sound is primitive, but as detailed and rich as a blood soaked medieval canvas, somewhere betwixt The Rita and Clandestine Blaze, but more brutal!

EMME YA | Atavistic Dreams & Phallic Totems CD (CSR151CD) £8 / £9 / £10
Shipping: 30th June
40 minutes of dense astral emanations and magickal paradigms transmitted through the ritual mantras generated by Emme Ya.
Based on the mysterious African Dogon tribe and their secret oral tradition. In the 1930s two anthropologists gained their trust enough to be told these remarkable secrets. The Dogon seemed to possess advanced astronomical knowledge beyond their means, without any instruments, revealing hidden stars Sirius B and Sirius C, so invisible they were only discovered by scientists with advanced imaging in 1970 and 1995. The Dogon say that their information was given to their ancestors through contact with beings from the star system of Sirius, calling these beings Nommos or ‘the monitors of the universe’.

ACTUARY / BASTARD NOISE – ‘Skeletal Uncertainty’ 12″ (Love Earth Music)
– £9 / £12.50 / £16
Powerhouse split release between the Los Angeles based noise/grind collective Actuary and noise/power violence pioneers Bastard Noise. Actuary bring two brutal, earth shaking tracks to the A-side of this release, using synths, bass, oscillators and other electronics to paint dark, ambient and harsh soundscapes. Bastard Noise (Wood, Wellman, Gribenas) bring up the B-side of this release with dark synth drones, ear shearing and crunchy oscillator sounds, layered with screams of anguish and pain, they dedicate their side to the late Rick Gribenas and their dear friend and collaborator Henry Barnes. Stunning smokey grey vinyl in a thick gatefold cover, with artwork by Kevin Fetus.

ARCHON ORCHESTRA – ‘Pong’ CD (Shadowplay Release / Muzyka Voln /
Monopoly Records) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
The CD cover of this band’s debut album shows a collage with a fragment of a Renaissance painting on which biblical saints look at the “sky” above them and see the game “Pong” being played there (a cult arcade game from 1972, first game by Atari). What could this marvellous picture mean? Let the listener decide. The main instrument on this CD is the organ, in fast mechanical sequences, typical for the Berlin school of electronic music. Simple compositional structure meets vivid expression, liturgical atmosphere and a sublime metaphysical line running through the whole concept of the project. Archon Orchestra deal with clearly structured music lying in the intermediate plane between the so called ‘holy minimalism’ and ‘repetitive music’. Recommended for lovers of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley and Recoil (“Hydrology”).
ASHRAM – ‘Gathered Under Shining Silver Skies’ DVD (Dying Art Productions)
– £16 / £18 / £20
A special release which documents Ashram’s 2009 Chinese tour, finally offering the chance to witness the band’s remarkable live show. The DVD features 20 songs recorded in Beijing, which includes not only Ashram’s debut and “Shining Silver Skies”, but also new songs, solo tracks, improvisations and unreleased material which the band only perform live on stage. The Italian ensemble embodies the romantic backdrop of early 1900’s glamour and also flirts with a slightly naïve Folk spirit. Melancholic and touching Neoclassical music. Ltd x 500 copies in an A5 slimline DVD case with 2 posters from the tour. Sealed in a hand-stamped envelope.
AUBE – ‘Cleveland, Ohio’ CD (Housepig) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
This long-awaited disc finally sees the light day! The Japanese master of single-source recording, Aube(aka Nakajima Akifumi), takes a simple starting point – feedback – and manipulates it into a rich tapestry of overlapping tones and textures. 66 minutes of music. Ltd x 300 copies.

AYTHIS – ‘The New Earth’ CD (Twilight Records) – £11 / £12 / £13
Aythis was brought to life in France 2006 by Carline Van Roos (Remembrance, Lethian Dreams). Lyrically inspired by dreams, isolation and death, Aythis aims to be timeless and isolated from human nature. Aythis’ harmonies are created by the alchemy of depressive keyboard atmospheres, haunting and hypnotic melodies, ethereal vocals and dark orchestral drums. Without losing the wintry atmospheres of previous releases ‘Doppelgänger’ (Paradigms Recordings) and ‘Glacia’ (Prikosnovenie), this third album melts together many influences and results in an unique blend of ethereal, neoclassical, neofolk, rhythmed by bombastic drums. Digipak.
BLUE SABBATH BLACK CHEER – ‘Crows Eat The Eyes From The Leviathans Carcass’ CD
(Release The Bats) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Blackened Noise mayhem from Seattle’s Blue Sabbath Black Cheer. “Crows Eat The Eyes From The Leviathans Carcass” is a collection of several long out of print limited cuts and two bonus unreleased tracks. Blue Sabbath Black Cheer formed in late 2005 and is centered around the duo of wm.Rage and Stan Reed. The sound of BSBC is dark and heavy, violently bleak horror-noise: a demon network of scraping nails. File beside Yellow Swans, Bastard Noise or The Rita. Ltd x 500 copies in a Stumptown cardboard sleeve with black on black print.
CYCLOTIMIA – ‘Styx’ CD (Shadowplay Release / Zhelezobeton / Monopoly Records)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
“Styx” is the most mainstream work in the Cyclotimia discography. The music is free of their usual experimental and academic explorations; here the emphasis is made on the rhythms. Eleven compositions depict the sickly technogenic reality of the planet wrapped by networks of global capital, media glamour and ideological obsessions. In ancient Greek mythology the Styx was the embodiment of primeval dread and gloom, from which the first living creatures emerged. This was a personification of the underworld river whose pestilent currents seclude life from death. Similarly to this mythic river, currents of credits, percent, funds, financial quotations, capital issues, barrels of oil and advertising spaces flow on the Cyclotimia album to the accompaniment of hard, sterile and atmospheric electronic music. Recommended for fans of Skinny Puppy, Clock DVA, Laibach, Front Line Assembly. Ltd x 500 copies.

DOVE YELLOW SWANS – ‘Live During War Crimes #3’ CD (Release The Bats)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
The final installment in the “Live During War Crimes” trilogy, this one being one of the last releases ever from Yellow Swans. Four unedited live sets from the band’s last year in existence. Included are the PDX Pop Now set (recorded by John Wiese, July 2007), a live soundtrack to a film by Avalon Kalin (February 2008), a set from the Picador, Iowa City (October 2007), and the final US show in Chicago (June 2008). Big sounding stuff, very loud and very dense, with the melodic guitarwork being more prominent just as on the last couple of releases. 78 minutes of epic, sky-shredding beauty in a gatefold sleeve. Ltd x 500.
ERNST KAREL – ‘Heard Laboratories’ CD (and/OAR) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Heard Laboratories is a sonic ethnography of scientific research environments at Harvard University, made using Schoeps cardioid mics in ORTF stereo configuration and a Sound Devices audio recorder. The sounds of equipment, devices and activities draw attention to the physical processes underlying scientific research, the work underway which provides a ground for our highly technological society.  In the name of human progress, enormous resources are devoted to and consumed by such activities, which are both hidden and taken for granted. Heard Laboratories brings this background to the fore. Heard Laboratories is a largely abstract soundscape, consisting of edited sequences of unprocessed location recordings. The liner notes list edit points, along with descriptions of the research each laboratory is engaged in, so that the listener may follow along and know what kind of laboratory they are hearing at any given moment. The work does not take a position with respect to what is documented, and neither endorses nor criticises the research programs of the laboratories which granted access. Digipak.
FRANCISCO LOPEZ – ‘Wind (Patagonia)’ CD (and/OAR) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
An immersion into sonic matter from micro and macro environments dominated by the wind in Patagonia. A vast barren space shaped and inhabited by the ever-changing forces of plants, rocks, sand, snow and ice. An irregular environment of relentless strength and richness. And above all, a tour de force of profound listening. López’s Patagonian winds have a ferocious beauty and immensity. Delicate whispers combine with wild swarms and eddies underpinned by deep bass punches. All of this is produced by an invisible force that endlessly sweeps the surface of the globe. With this, we are no longer in the tidy world of human music, but have entered the sublime domain of natural sound. Packaged in a super gloss digipak with 16 page booklet.

INNERCITY – ‘Backworld’ LP (Release The Bats / Ikuisuus) – £13 / £16.50 / £20
Second album from Belgian synthscaper Hans Dens, following up the highly acclaimed “Future Life” LP. While being rooted in the Belgian underground alongside acts like Orphan Fairytale and Dolphins Into The Future, Innercity brings a more dystopic and bleak approach to the table with it’s monotonous and rhythmic set of sounds. With a strange sense of melancholia and hopelessness, “Backworld” invites the listener to an intriguing maze-like journey. Mastered by Viktor Ottosson (Ättestupa). Edition of 300 copies. Ltd x 300 copies with insert.

JASON KAHN & ASHER – ‘Vista’ CD (and/OAR) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
“By mail” collaboration mixing Asher’s recordings of machine noises from the alleys and side streets of Back Bay, Boston and Kahn’s recordings made on the shores of Zürich Lake and in the Swiss Alps. Addressing the idea of hearing and seeing out and beyond spatial planes, the title “Vista” references both the aural expanses of Asher’s home on a hill in the town of Somerville and Kahn’s trips in Switzerland. In processing and mixing the discrete details of a landscape, we hear them from a real physical distance. Through the incidental combinations of processed local sounds and sound materials which are entirely foreign to us, an imaginative aural view is created which obscures any relationship to a documentary account of the original locations recorded for Vista. Digipak.

JUHYO / JOSHUA NORTON CABAL – ‘Human Cargo’ CD (Housepig / Hear More!)
– £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Juhyo (Minneapolis artists Brian Kopis of Hear More! and Bill Henson of Housepig) teams up with Joshua Norton Cabal (Andrew Nolan of The Endless Blockade) for a two-pronged Noise investigation into the world of human trafficking and modern slavery. Features Eric King (The Endless Blockade) on guest drums and source material from Nekrasov. Ltd x 500 copies.
LETHE – ‘Dry Ice On Steel Tables’ CD (and/OAR) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
A remarkable document of a live performance recorded on September 11th, 2003 at No, 20 Warehouse, Nagoya Port, Japan. The sounds heard in this recording were created by Kiyoharu Kuwayama’s application of dry ice to four steel tables which were heated by candles. No electronic processing or post-production editing of the performance was made. Lethe / Kiyoharu Kuwayama is known for creating and recording work in highly resonant spaces or charged atmospheres (abandoned warehouses, Shinto temples, etc). Kiyoharu is also known for his involvement with the duo Kuwayama – Kijima (Kiyoharu Kuwayama: cello, and Rina Kijima: violin). Digipak. Not to be confused with the Ukrainian dark ambient artist of the same name.
LUSTMORD – ‘[ O T H E R  D U B ]’ MCD (Vaultworks) – £11 / £12 / £13
Dub Remix EP of the Lustmord album [ O T H E R ]. Three obviously dubby, heavy and smokey reinterpreations of tracks taken from the original “[ O T H E R ] ” album. Reminiscent of the “Lustmord vs Metal Beast” album, but full of gritty and stretched out riffs (think what had been done with the Melvins on “Juggernaut”), this last chapter is a bit beatier than the “Transmuted” vinyl, and fits very well with the rest of Lustmord’s extremely deep and masterfully produced catalogue. Features Adam Jones of Tool. 40 minutes of music over 3 epic tracks! Comes in a shrinkwrapped card slip.

LUSTMORD – ‘Songs Of Gods And Demons’ CD (Vaultworks) – £15 / £16 / £17
A collection of previously unreleased material from the Dark Ambient master. Recorded between 1994 and 2007 and includes works recorded for film and video games. The tracks are of such a high standard that they could easily be mistaken for previous album tracks. Dark, brooding, droning blackness, as to be expected from Lustmord. Could be considered as “Purifying Fire part 2”. 5 epic tracks at just over 71mins! Digipak.

MERZBOW / CRIS X – ‘Guya / Greed’ LP (CX Records) – £18 / £21.50 / £25
Second official release from CX records, Italy. “Guya” is a new and unreleased track from the master of Japanese noise, Merzbow (Masami Akita). 18 minutes of noise bliss, a powerful sonic trip structured by feedback, digital and analogue electronics. A devastating masterpiece. The flipside features 3 new tracks recorded, composed and mixed in Berlin, Rome and Tokyo by Cris X / Cristiano Luciani in collaboration with underground Japanese musicians, Keiko Higuchi and Sachiko: a dark and visionary journey through expressionist ambient atmospheres, electronic and vocal experimentations. Ltd x 300 copies on white vinyl.

MIXTURIZER – ‘Siete Patologias’ CD (RONF Records) – £8 / £9 / £10
An intense Noise album from this Spanish act. Seven tracks dealing with sickness, abstractness, violence and insanity. Purely analogue executed using effects units, machines, cheap odd mics, feedback, metal junk, voice, body and soul. Varied, ranging from lo-fi to brightness, from dynamic to static, from detailed to brutalist, from chaotic to structured, hopeless, restless, straight to the sick point. 70mins. Ltd x 500 copies in a stickered card slip with insert.
OPHIR – ‘Opus Operatum’ CD (Callithrix Records) – £8 / £9 / £10
Debut album from this Swedish act who met at EMS studios and started a series of eight sound experiments, which was part of their formal education in electro-acoustic music. An encounter between two very different musical dimensions; Anders Hallengren came from the Medieval Sacral Mass and the Renaissance polyphony of Lassus and suddenly found himself “in the world of post-post-modern electro-technology and apocalyptic Death Metal” of Stefan Östlund. But somehow these apparently conflicting worlds intertwined and the outcome was something new, even recondite and elusive to both. A stunning array of musical instruments is used throughout (violin, piano, horn, flute, bells, drums etc). All female vocals were performed by Julia Hallengren. Digipak.
RACCOO-OO-OON – ‘Raccoo-oo-oon’ CD (Release The Bats) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
The swansong from Iowa City’s Raccoo-oo-oon. Following up 2007’s critically acclaimed “Behold Secret Kingdom”, the final album takes everything up a notch and shows a band taking their last breath and laying down the last bricks in their fairly short history. Doomed, desperate prog-rock flailings decay into hollow purgatories of dimly pulsing ambience, only to re-erupt into percussion firestorms and experimental electricity. There are a few moments of “Behold Secret Kingdom”-style focus, but for the most part the mood remains raw and acidic; four souls on edge, backs to the crowd, channeling everything they have left inside. Nearly 80 minutes of music, mastered by Pete Swanson (Yellow Swans). Ltd x 1000 copies in a mini gatefold sleeve.
RISING SHADOWS – ‘Finis Gloriae Mundi’ CD (Twilight Records) – £11 / £12 / £13
“Finis Gloriae Mundi” is the third album from Rising Shadows. Once again the beautiful voice of Linda-li enriches the mysterious and complex musical textures created by Fredrik Klingwall. The Swedish duo now goes well beyond their neoclassical and medieval roots and leave the boundaries of a genre. Together with co-producer Mattias Olsson and several session musicians they explore new layers of instruments and rhythms in their music. “Finis Gloriae Mundi” is the soundtrack to a great finale, inspired by the curiosity of death and transmutations of our reality. The result is yet another haunting melancholic masterpiece.

SHEPHERDS – ‘Loco Hills’ CD (Release The Bats) – £9 / £10 / £11
Debut album from this Brooklyn psychedelic / folk / rock / improv unit. The sound of a rolling south western road trip… of unknown terrain. “Loco Hills” finds Shepherds entering full band territory for the first time. A fully realised document, toying at times with structure, Shepherds never lose sight of the “drop everything and make music” mentality that makes them so exciting. Swirling strings, tape manipulations, percussion, wah, fire and bone. Features members from Meneguar, Woods and The Vanishing Voice. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak.
SMAKITA – ‘Cleveland, Ohio’ CD (Housepig) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Steve Makita has been immersed in noise for nearly two decades. From the power violence attack of Apartment 213, to the organic power-tool assault of Lockweld, to lending noise to terrorizers like Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Fistula, he has steadily honed his approach while expanding his range. Now, with his solo concern sMakita, he joins the Housepig family and brings forth a tightly focused slab of experimental sound. Finding inspiration in his unabashed love for the legendary Nurse With Wound, he bypasses imitation and instead immerses the listener in an open-ended sound space where grinders duet with piano, pitted metal meets the fragile voice, all enveloped in the resonance of a decayed environment. A most extraordinary work inspired by a most mundane locale… “Cleveland, Ohio”. Ltd x 300 copies.
THE BASTARD NOISE – ‘A Culture Of Monsters’ CD (Housepig) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Less noise, more Bastard! Wood and Nelson welcome original Man Is The Bastard drummer Connell back into the fold to craft a skull servant’s dream. Crushing prog complexity meets all-out brutality with interludes of interstellar drift, including reworkings of some long-lost MITB tracks. Produced by Michael Rozon (Rogue Astronaut / The Red List), this CD is packaged in a mini-LP style gatefold sleeve with 12-page booklet.

THEODOR BASTARD – ‘Beloe: Hunting For Fierce Beasts’ CD (Twilight Records)
– £11 / £12 / £13
Theodor Bastard is one of the most successful contemporary Russian music collectives, working between genres that can be defined as world music, darkwave and trip-hop. The trademark of the band is the unique voice of Yana Veva and unique sound-production of Fedor Svolotch. Yana Veva has a rare vocal timbre and she uses a special vocal technique that refers to Arabic and Indian vocal tradition. This disc differs from the other works by this band – concerning aesthetics and sound: most of the compositions are far from the oriental theme, that’s been typical for the band, and from the “dark” direction often attributed to the musicians. “Beloe” (‘whiteness’ in Russian) is about inner purification – the struggle with demons in all of us. The album is in Russian and filled with Russian folk motives and various ethnic percussion. Digipak. All Theodor Bastard Titles

WARMER MILKS – ‘Let Your Friends In’ CD (Release The Bats) – £9 / £10 / £11
“Let Your Friends In” is another chapter in the more brash, aggressive side of Warmer Milks catalogue. Creating Psych-Rock, Noise, Experimental and Folk-Rock with Black Metal leanings, the group touched on intensities left behind from “Radish On Light” but with a more street rock cum vomitorium feel. The “Let Your Friends In” sessions went down in Shelbyville, Kentuckee at Rove Studios, home to engineer Paul Oldham, where various members present during the “Soft Walks” sessions took time to record this scorcher. Featuring usual WM attendees Michael Turner and Greg Backus the two lengthy cuts on “Let Your Friends In” also boasts the addition of Shawn David McMillen (Iron Kite, ex-Ash Castles) on guitar and Paul O. on dead wah guitar. Ltd x 1000 copies in a card slip with insert.
DARK AWAKE – ‘Meseonas’ CD (Twilight Records) – £11 / £12 / £13

Formed in 2001, this debut CD from Greek act Dark Awake is a mystical, martial avant-garde opus with a majestic and pompous feeling. “Meseonas” explores the macabre fantasies from the nocturnal macrocosm of imagination. The music of Dark Awake is not just a piece of art… it is the ritual of life as a sacrifice of will towards the totality of infinite possibility. Includes a cover of the Celtic lullaby ‘All The Pretty Little Horses’. Digipak.

DAWN & DUSK ENTWINED – ‘Vanitas Vanitatum’ CD (Twilight Records)
– £11 / £12 / £13

Re-release of “Vanitas Vanitatum”, originally issued on Aube Et Crépuscule (2007, Ltd x 99). Six songs of decadent and gloomy atmospheres, now with three exclusive new versions of songs originally featured on “The Hikimori songs” 10″. The revered French project Dawn & Dusk Entwined follows its uncompromising path of heavily atmospheric and dynamic soundscapes, mixing cinematic dark ambience with forceful, at times martial, rhythms, neofolk nuances and strong orchestration, carefully avoiding the clichés of all those styles. In an era where man was placed at the center of creation, vanities paintings in the 16-17th century were meant to recall him his mortal fate and greater values, God at the time, than human pretension, consumerism, cheap entertainment… Maybe now it’s questioning time again? Digipak.

ENEMITE – ‘Wuyuan’ CD (Dying Art Productions) – £11 / £12 / £13

Enemite offer angry and dense atmospheres; more of a ceremony, a circle of forming. Lost in the noise of hell, an evil creature wanders up and down forever. “Please close the doors and windows to turn off the light and listen alone!” Dark, gloomy and sinister. Death-inspired Ritual Ambient with an inherent Chinese feel. Comes in a stark A5 B&W gatefold sleeve / “ecopack” with insert and Chinese text throughout. Ltd x 1000 copies.

IHVHLXXII – ‘Dtxenioutha’ CD (Dying Art Productions) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50

IHVHLXXII are reputedly the first Dark ambient group from China. Their music comes with a deep philosophical and historical origin. The music shifts from ghostly and heavy dark ambient with insane Chinese screams and ramblings, to guitar-based and percussive pieces, to melancholic neoclassical compositions. IHVHLXXII are building their own mythical empire of melancholy, isolation and exquisite rumbling soundscapes. IHVH forms four basic elements of the world in the philosophy of ancient Greece. Every Hebraic letter has a value, and the total value of IHVH is 72 (the LXXII in the band’s name). Ltd x 1000 copies.

LUSTMORD – ‘[ B E Y O N D ]’ CD (Vaultworks) – £15 / £16 / £17

Following “The Dark Places Of The Earth”, “Beyond” is the second limited edition sequel to “Others”. And just like its predecessor, it sees Lustmord digging deep into its sounds and atmospheres to go back to his “Where The Black Stars Hang” days. Again, gone are the gritty bits and guitars of “Others”, as Brian Williams focuses here on what he does best: huge, monumental, pitch black spacial sounds that just need to be listened to as loud as possible. Lustmord is a monument in itself. 60 minutes in total. Ltd x 1000 copies only!

LUSTMORD – ‘Heresy’ CD (Soleilmoon) – £12.50 / £13.50 / £14.50

A cherished but long unavailable classic has been remastered, repackaged and re-issued. “Heresy”, the album that launched and defined the dark ambient genre when it was first released in 1990, has been hailed by critics and fans as one of the most important works of its time. “Heresy” was recorded in various subterranean locations and manipulated in the studio with Andrew Lagowski providing engineering and additional programming. It was the first Lustmord album to feature extensive sampling and computer assisted sound design. Improvements in sound technology permitted Lustmord to re-master and significantly improve on the original recordings for this new version. Digipak.

LUSTMORD – ‘The Monstrous Soul’ CD (Soleilmoon) – £12.50 / £13.50 / £14.50

A classic, much revered album, “The Monstrous Soul” was conceived in Sheffield in 1990 by Lustmord (aka Brian Williams) and Clock DVA founder Adi Newton. A deliberately minimal recording. An hour long soundscape best described as a journey through a frozen hell. The five songs contained revel in a sort of restrained melodrama, packed with horror movie samples and apocalyptic tensions. Another essential release by the unrivalled Lord of Ritual Dark Ambient!

MOST OF THE TACITURN – ‘History Of Iron And Blood’ CD
(Dying Art Productions) – £11 / £12 / £13

Just six short months after their debut ‘Silent Accuser’, Chinese act Most Of The Taciturn has evolved into a huge war machine. The latest album “History Of Iron And Blood” is an Asian perspective of the “Second World War European history of the rise and fall of three empires”. Excellent centralised Industrial revelations! Influences cited are Puissance and Sophia, but we are sure this will appeal to all fans of the Martial symphonic/bombastic genre (A Challenge Of Honour, Cold Fusion etc). Strong political artwork. Comes in nice digipak with insert. Recommended!

RISING SHADOWS – ‘Found In The Cold’ CD (Twilight Records)
– £11 / £12 / £13

With “Found In The Cold”, Rising Shadows explores a colder and more distorted, harsh landscape than before, yet still holding up the ethereal beauty with the voice of Linda-li. Lyrically and musically the album is a continuation of the themes from “Falling Deep Within”. The dreamy, folk inspired songs are still there with the dark lyrics of a journey through life into death and the catharsis in between. Rising Shadows speak about the world of imagination all of us have in mind; a possible world, full of tales, fantastic creatures and beautiful landscapes.
