Last week saw the release of Icelandic band Legend's new video for Amazon War. The video is collage of found internet images, movie clips, and shocking documentary pieces, compiled and edited by Frosti Jón Runólfsson. The track Amazon War is from 2012's acclaimed release Fearless (Artoffact Records).
Legend is an Icelandic duo that experiments with electronic music. The band's frontman, Krummi Björgvinsson, is no stranger to the music world, having catapulted punk-rock act Minus to deals with Victory Records, Smekkleysa, and One Little Indian. Legend's debut album Fearless was self-released in Iceland to astonishing reviews, including comparisons to what reads as a who's who of modern music.
Krummi, singer of the Icelandic punk rock act Minus, and co-founder (along with Daníel Ágúst of Gus Gus fame) of the alt-country act Esja, formed Legend in 2011 with Halldor Björnsson. The duo have since graced the stage of Icelandic Airwaves, been remixed by Icelandic-Los Angeles electronic fashion crew Steed Lord, and been featured in film-maker Kitty Von-Sometime's superb Weird Girls Project video series (along with Gus Gus, Ólafur Arnalds, Emiliana Torrini, Ghostigital, Imogen Heap, and others). In 2012, Legend signed a worldwide (ex-Iceland) deal with Artoffact Records.
LEGEND IN THE PRESS
"The perfect antidote to all that forced holiday jollity."
—Ben Rayner, The Toronto Star
"The salty, alluring taste of your own body splitting."
—Natalie Zina Walschots, Toronto Standard
"Not only are most of the songs on Fearless dripping with angst, dread and lust, they're also musically tight and melodically powerful, to the point that I could hardly believe I was listening to a band that formed less than two years ago."
—Gregory Burkart, FEARnet
"Kinda scary with Golem guest vocals on the first track!"
—Shannon Funchess (Light Asylum)
