after the summer break, here AVANT! goes with two new vinyl releases
DRIFT. – Genderland EP
After the digital release of the Genderland single from this summer, the new 6-track EP by DRIFT. is out 8 September.
Musically, these new songs complement each other. Throbbing beats are punctuated with melodies, vocals floating in layers, their dreamy veil disguising a strong message. Strong and anything but stable. If first EP Black Devotion was all about searching for a sound, her new recording signals a shift, a drift towards self-determination, a PVC-clad step into the murky mixed-message waters of 21st century gender politics.
SALLY DIGE – Holding On
Sally Dige is a multidisciplinary artist known for her darkly poetic yet highly danceable electro-pop songs, DIY stylistic videos, design and visual art.
Holding On was created during the time of intense inner turmoil. These are songs written for dance floors but are sung about loneliness, death and the meaninglessness of existence. Sally‘s work tows the line between a blissful innocence and a heavy darkness. Think Gina X flavored post punk-disco rubbing against Twitch-era Ministry‘s lost Sade collab or Enya on LSD after a break up.
Holding On is Sally‘s second album, out on Avant! in Europe and DKA in North America, with two separate cover designs.
