The US-label DSBP (www.dsbp.cx) has lately signed with Asseptic Room another trouper to take the international Electro/Industrial scene by storm. This Spanish solo project consists of Carlos Ruiz, who was a few years before a constant member of the nowadays well known act Dioxyde. And also musically both acts don’t show too much differences, also Asseptic Room plays a kind of harsh EBM/Electro music, which allows comparisons to Suicide Commando, Agonoize or to the NoiTekk label roster, but still with an own kind andidentity. This interview looks the behind the curtains of one of the up and coming Electro/Industrial acts hailing from Spain…

Chain D.L.K.: Greetings, Carlos. Could you please shortly introduce our readers your music project Asseptic Room? Please fill also a biographical resume about how, when and where…
Asseptic Room: It begins around 2002 as a consequence of a damaged relationship among the components of Dioxyde. This happened because of the different opinions and to an incompatible personality besides bad attitudes in certain occasions. Thanks to this reason I started to compose songs for my new project (AR – Asseptic Room). My music career has started when I was very young, my pleasure for the electronic music began by listening in the radio the first tracks of Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, alsoby hearing the first tracks of Techno Pop of the 80ties. But all of it couldn’t be and wouldn’t start after I made my first visit to a club where I to my opinion thought that that was my future. I began as DJ “Professional”in the year 1988, playing songs of Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Propaganda, Yello, Click Click, Clock DVA, or A Split Second. In the years 1989 – 1990 I started to compose my first tracks with an Atari 1040 ST and a keyboardKawai FS630. The result was incredible, I could produce a mini album called “Initial Command.”. In 1998 I met Marco of Dioxyde and in 2001 I bought my “Infernal Machine” (Supernova Novation II). So from those days my journey to starts with “Torschlusspanik”, the first album . In the year 2000 I sent a demo tape to Johan Van Roy (Suicide Commando). A great friendship has started and thanks to Johan we record the first album “Torschlusspanik” and got signed with Dying Culture. In the year 2002 I had begun to work on the first tracks of AR, “Zombie Patient”, “Crazy”, “Faith Without You” or “Intruder” are some of the first tracks. In the year 2004 I stopped my work with Dioxyde, although I learned a lot of the mutual time. In the 2005 I learned to know Tommy T (DSBP) and that brought life in my plans to produce “Morbid Visions”. Finally at 16th of June 2006 my first album came out in solitary.

Chain D.L.K.: People surely would like to know why you have decided to split with your former act, the well known act Dioxyde. Please give us some background on this. Do you have still a contact to Marco of Dioxyde?
Asseptic Room: I have already commented you more or less where to find the reasons. But I prefer to keep the positive things and to look to the future. I don’t hardly have any relationship with Marco. Maybe some day we can speak and to start a new friendship.

Chain D.L.K.: Your first official release “Morbid Visions” is out now and released on the US label DSBP. How did you come in contact with Tommy T and his fine label roster?
Asseptic Room: I began to look for a label two years ago but I hadn’t had luck. In the year 2005 I sent a demo CD to DSBP and thanks to this I could release my first album. I will always be very grateful to Tommy T for allof his trust and support.

Chain D.L.K.: How and when did you decide to let Tommy doing the mastering work on your album? How would you review his work and support?
Asseptic Room: The truth is that Tommy has not produced anything of the album except the final mastering . A great work that made that the topics sounded in a better quality.

Chain D.L.K.: “Morbid Visions” features a huge thematic infiltration of satanism through the lyrics and drawings on the cover art. So is your music – your life in hell must be horrible. What drives you and what gives you the needed impressions to work out such dramatic themes?
Asseptic Room: I don’t want to give an image of somebody makes satanic music, I’m refusing it. My music goes into in the more dark passages of the human being. The religion has a very important paper in my compositions,maybe for seeing unjust that the men depend of some beliefs for absurd beliefs for those that are killed. Asseptic Room is dedicated to themes so dark and daily as: wars, mainly produced through religious differences,hunger, bad treatments to people and animals and many more. Maybe I think that there is no future and that everything will end in a chaos, but the truth is, that all what I comment is outside available. This is not satanic.

Chain D.L.K.: With “Brutal IRA” you have also included a track to Spain’s known terror underground organization. Please give us an insight behind your opinions and politically view related to this track.
Asseptic Room: Yes, this song is dedicated to the anger that they’ve caused with the attacks in Madrid in the 11-M. But, this it is not the only track dedicated to that unforgettable day. Another great track called “En CarneViva ” sample more pain and more anguish than “Brutal IRA”, but finally we decided not to include it to the album. “Brutal Ira” features impotence, pain, anguish of this happening.

Chain D.L.K.: Some friendly words to your artwork created by Ricardo Marichal (www.hablagarmin.com). How did you come on him?
Asseptic Room: I have words of gratefulness for Ricardo Marichal for his incredible work for Asseptic Room. He could find inspiration through my songs to make this design and I think that he offered with this magnifiespresentation a marvelous work. I know Ricardo for some years, since Dioxyde did their first concert on the Canary Islands. During that concert organized by the collective Ladefuncion, I met some people that today are some of my best friends including Jose Socorro or Ricardo Marichal. I promised Ricardo to get the possibility to work out the artwork of Asseptic Room and he answered affirmatively. I like the work Ricardo has done, I think he’s a genius and I hope to collaborate more with him in the future.

Chain D.L.K.: People tend to sort in acts into stupid genres like Hellektro/Harsh EBM without any further sense. Asseptic Room may falls under this moniker. How is your point of view regarding the Electro/Industrialscene and its evolution through the past years?
Asseptic Room: Hahahahaha! Yes, I think the same. Lately too much people “invent” genres to describe the music of some bands, Hellelektro, Harsh EBM and other’s. I think that my music is very varied and I would not include it in a single stupid genre. Asseptic Room has many dark songs, danceable tracks and other pieces more noisy oriented, including environmental noise. I do not agree with the genres, many genres are a deceive for people.

Chain D.L.K.: Maybe, a bit early to ask for, but can you already confirm some dates of new stuff coming out from you? What else does the future hold for you personally and musically?
Asseptic Room: Yes, I can soon confirm when I will publish something new, maybe soon we’ll have more works of Asseptic Room. It could be possible that some tracks will be able to download from Myspace or the official web site.Currently I have available more than 20 songs but you will have to wait. At live gigs I will include some songs not included on “Morbid Visions”. It is very typical for me in my shows to surprise with other tracks.

Chain D.L.K.: Any final words for our readers to conclude this interview, Carlos?
