OECD 152     CANDOR CHASMA – <Rings>      Digipack / Ltd. 300 copies      13,- €

Foreseen to be out Late January 2012

Candor Chasma is the new electronic duo of Corrado Altieri (Monosonik, Uncodified)

and Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., Dream Weapon Ritual).
The band name comes from outer space (Candor Chasma is one of the largest canyons in the Valles Marineris canyon system on Mars)

and their debut album <Rings> is a 5-part hallucinogenic voyage inside analogue whirls, multilayered textures made of tapes

and white noise, psychedelic frequencies and cerebral ambient-noise.
With <Rings> the duo rewrites and revises old school industrial, creating contemporary hypnotic atmospheres

and up to date power-electronics explosions yet making full reference to the experimental side of the grey area.
For sure a project that will appeal to all the fans of good old-school sounds.
Tracklist :
1. Inside the Ether at 06:00 A.M.
2. The Third Void
3. Chemical Analysis of Ectoplasm
4. Hallucination Doors
5. Apophenia

OECD 151     HOROLOGIUM & K. MEIZTER – Decorated Silence     CD Jewel-Box    13,- €

Foreseen to be out Late January 2012

Nearly five years since K. Meizter (Beyond Sensory Experience) and Horologium’s previous work “Eight Studies in Transition”

the two artists return with their sophomore collaborative release “Decorated Silence”.
The album’s theme revolves around the concept of language perceived as decorated silence

with K. Meizter and Horologium communicating through their illustrious dark tinted soundscapes.
Expect a dark ambient industrial release of highest class.
1. A Momentary Painting (4:10)
2. In Winter Still (8:17)
3. Unsound (5:21)
4. Lost for Words (6:03)

OECD 148     LUX ANODYCA – Soul Meshes     Jewel-Box / Ltd. 300 copies  13,- €

Foreseen to be out Late January 2012

Debut release by this new Italian project arround KIRLIAN CAMERA.
Lux Anodyca was set up in 2006 by Redux and his wife Claudia Morel.
Redux is a member of Kirlian Camera since 2007, you might have discovered Lux Anodyca on the excellent

3-CD box “Odyssey Europa” by Kirlian Camera.
And of course the master is inspiring the follower, Lux Anodyca sometimes sounds pretty Kirlian Camera-like

but at the other hand, they for sure explore wider fields.
Lux Anodyca is also diving into the realms of experimental music, gothic ballads, folk
and minimal electronics, which definitely confirms the very open-minded way of composing.
Think at something like a mix of Kirlian Camera vs. David E. Williams …
Like a Noir movie soundtrack and songs singed by drunken singers.
Tracklist :
01. Games at Rhodary
02. Mary on the Floor
03. Angel’s Bolero
04. Walakee
05. Fix Fax Fox

OECD 146     ROMA AMOR – Occhi Neri     CD Digipack         13,- €

Foreseen to be out Late January 2012

Somewhere between the melodic folk-inflected charm of Italian 60’s songwriters and the cabaret swoon of French chansonniers,

Roma Amor’s new album is instinctively romantic and sophisticated.

This album will seduce you with its summer-evening mellowness before breaking your heart with its beautifully sensual croon.
Wonderful ballads and torch songs about love inspired by the epic, fatalistic rugged grandeur of Aznavour, Brel, Piaf,

and 60’s Italian songwriters, though in a much quieter and more delicate setting.
The album is sung in Italian with some French touches and the songs are from Roma Amor’s own harvest.
The result isn’t experimental or innovative, but an acoustic and intimate album for fans of well-crafted singer-songwriting.
Retro chic pale-blue digipak packaging with all lyrics included.

2. Mon Amour
3. Le Coeur Au Chaud

PURE 075EP DJ MADSKILLZ: Liquid Air 12″ (PURE 075EP) 12.00
100% Pure welcomes international DJ and peak-time club producer DJ Madskillz aka Gertjan Schonewille. He’s been stoking up the dancefloor ovens for two decades now, fuelling the party crowds with his relentless energy for dynamic tech-house sets and dedicated dance releases and remixes. “Liquid Air” features killer beats, soaring synths, digitized vocals and tense jabs, all funked-up to create an atmospheric dance elixir. “Loco” sends party-crowds soaring on a hard-hitting sound adventure with dance madness as the final destination.
AREA 035EP FANCIULLI & JORDAN PEAK, MARK: Keep On (Shinedoe Remix) 12″ (AREA 035EP) 12.00
Mark Fanciulli and Jordan Peak’s “Keep On” is a tech house “flight of the bumble-bee,” providing the wind that propels you across multi-beats, shimmering chords and occasional vocal refreshments. Shinedoe jacks up the tempo and boosts the bass to create her own energetic BIG bounce point of view.
B 152LP MOTHERS OF INVENTION, THE: FZ At Artisan LP (B 152LP) 27.00
“Recorded live between October 1968 and May 1969, these tracks were chosen, produced and mastered by Frank Zappa himself at Artisan Sound in Hollywood, CA in mid-1969. FZ At Artisan includes rare live versions of tracks recorded during the Mothers’ first European tour (Autumn 1968) and at various locations around the USA (mostly in 1969, the year Zappa broke up the band for the first time). Several of these songs were eventually released on the LPs Weasels Ripped My Flesh and Burnt Weeny Sandwich.” 140 gram vinyl. Clear vinyl in transparent PVC sleeve with purple lettering. Limited edition 500 copies.
B 156LP BLUES CREATION: Recorded Live At The All Japan Folk Jamboree August, 7 1971 LP (B 156LP) 27.00
“Blues Creation was formed in 1969 by Japanese axe-hero Kazuo Takeda, along with fellow guitarist Koh Eiryu and singer Fumio Nunoya (later of Dew). Initially influenced by the likes of the Yardbirds and Cream, group mastermind Takeda soon decided to move the heavier territory occupied by bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin. But at the same time Blues Creation had morphed into something truly original, focused more on song writing and looking into their own Japanese roots as well as to the West. By the time this live performance was recorded in August, 1971 at the 2nd All Japan Folk Jamboree, Takeda’s Blues Creation was a force to be reckoned with. Plays a mix of originals (sung in English) and well-selected covers, as always Blues Creation’s sound hinges entirely on Takeda’s impressive handiwork on the fretboard.”140 gram vinyl. Clear red vinyl in transparent PVC sleeve with blue lettering. Limited edition 500 copies.
BSR 4503EP PARKS, VAN DYKE: Black Gold/Aquarium 7″ (BSR 4503EP) 11.00
“The fourth release in the series of six new 7″ singles by Van Dyke Parks is illustrated by the legendary Frank Holmes, who created the sleeve artwork for the ‘lost’ Beach Boys album Smile 45 years ago.”
BEC 5161061 BAMBINO, KAP: Resistance Alpha 7″ (BEC 5161061) 10.00
Kap Bambino is a stampeding punk-rock juggernaut. Unlike most assaults of lawless rock’n’roll ideals, it’s not powered by guitars, or rather any live instruments whatsoever. The empowering eruption of frenzied discordance, space invader sucker-punch beats and caterwauling incantations conjured by the Bordeaux duo of Caroline Martial and Orion Bouvier, is the result of harnessing the unruly spirit of bands like Suicide and Nirvana, then feeding it through a tangled web of samplers, synthesizers and software modules.
BEC 5161100 SURKIN: USA 2LP+CD (BEC 5161100) 26.50
Limited edition double LP with a free CD version. This is the debut full-length by Surkin, called USA. Originally designed to be out on Institubes, they immediately thought of Marble (in conjunction with Because Music) as the perfect platform to release it after the demise of their former label. It features 16 tracks, with guest vocals by Detroit’s Ann Saunderson, Chicago’s Kevin Irving, and two collaborations with long-time friend and label mate Bobmo, with whom Surkin works as High Powered Boys. It’s a joyous, juvenile, body-moving record, based on the idea of a radio station called Fireworks FM, set up in Silver Springs. The whole vibe exhales a fantasized ’80s soundscape, infused with dance subgenres from that era but dramatically edited by Surkin’s own imaginary memories. Club tracks galore, but also expect more melodic, emotional mid-tempo cuts, but definitely not in a filler way.
CT 010CD STONE COAL WHITE: Stone Coal White CD (CT 010CD) 14.00
“The first offering from DJ Shadow’s Cali-Tex imprint in over three and a half years features Dayton, Ohio’s Stone Coal White. Perhaps the most underground act in a scene that was already vastly subterranean, bassist Melvin Payne, guitarist Tommy Mundy, and drummer Joey ‘Lobo’ Rodrick released their sound from the deepest chasm of the black experience. Channeling Vietnam nightmares, grass, LSD, unhinged sexuality, poverty, and violence, Stone Coal White created a spiritual sound that was uniquely their own. Some will recognize ‘You Know’ from the black-psych mix bible Chains & Black Exhaust, but as the group’s two 45s exist in single digit quantities, only a handful have heard the rest of this Ho Chi Min City-damaged oeuvre. Their two 45s have been bolstered with four previously unissued tracks found in the basement of a now-condemned motorcycle gang hideout. Along with never before seen photos, this vastly unheard slice of gritty, hazed-out Ohio psych rock finally gets it’s due beyond the cranked out bikers it was originally intended for.”
CIC 6570CD VA: Revolution!: Teen Time In Corpus Christi (1965-1970) CD (CIC 6570CD) 15.00
“In 1966, famed lead guitarist Rod Prince (later of Bubble Puppy) re-wrote the 13th Floor Elevators’ song ‘Tried To Hide’ as ‘All Night Long’ and released it with the Bad Seeds as their third single. They were the number one band at the time in Corpus Christi. Although ‘All Night Long’ would beat the Elevators’ ‘Tried To Hide’ (on International Artists) to the market, the Bad Seeds disbanded in the summer of 1966 and other renowned Corpus bands would follow in their footsteps, most scoring top ten hits on the way: Four more with the ultra-rare single ‘Problem Child’ b/w ‘Don’t Give Up Hope’. The Zakary Thaks with ‘Bad Girl’ and ‘Face To Face’. The Liberty Bell with ‘The Nazz Are Blue’ and ‘For What You Lack’. The Buckle with ‘Baroque Rock’ on ‘I’ve Got Something On My Mind’. Folk-rock singer Michael backed by The Zakary Thaks on all three of his singles, sounding more like a 1966 era Bob Lind than Bob Lind. And Kubla Khan singing about changin’ times in ‘Revolution’ and pondering whether ‘the brown grass will be legalized’. Memorabilia such as top 30 radio surveys, rare photos, news articles from the era, interviews with band members, sixteen page booklet, and twenty-eight tracks(including previously unreleased recordings) combine to make this a trip back to the ’60s, when a revolution in sound was happening in Corpus Christi, Texas.”
CIC 986CD MAD HATTERS/THE FALLEN ANGELS, THE: The Mad Hatters Meet The Fallen Angels CD (CIC 986CD) 15.00
“In 1965, Barry Seidel formed a music company called Traydel Productions. The first band Seidel signed was the Mad Hatters from Washington DC. In the course of one year the band released three stunningly great singles, ‘I Need Love,’ ‘Go Find a Love’ and ‘I’ll Come Running,’ all with Dylanesque-PF Sloan sounding folk-rock songs as the B-sides. Mad Hatter live shows were legendary as well, as is exemplified by the explosion of the amps during their electrifying medley of ‘Since You’ve Been Gone>I’m All Right>The Mad Hatter Theme’ and their rocking version of ‘I Need Love,’ both included on this album along with all their singles, making this the most complete collection of Mad Hatters’ material ever released. The Fallen Angels were the second band Seidel signed and they are represented by a six song set of singles and unreleased recordings from 1966. These are the earliest recordings by the band and range from folk-rock (‘Pebble In My Sand,’ ‘Hello Girl,’ ‘I Have Found’) to Love (Arthur Lee) type ballads (‘Have You Ever Lost A Love,’ ‘Every Time I Fall In Love’) and garage (‘Who Do You Love?’). In addition to all this excitement are two previously unreleased 1966 folk-rock Byrds sounding gems from the Loved Ones, plus a 1967 version of ‘I Need Love’ by the Time Stoppers. Rare photos and radio promos make this a complete trip back to 1966, when the Mad Hatters and the Fallen Angels were the two hottest bands in Washington DC and ‘I Need Love’ mania swept the airwaves.”
CZ 007EP LUNCH & PHILIPPE PETIT, LYDIA: In Comfort 12″/PIC DISC (CZ 007EP) 15.50
Late Saturday night turns Sunday morning misty somewhere, someone is playing some strings… snatches of thoughts whispered a stolen text from dirty old Henry Miller, the stereo scratches out a scrap of a poem penned to a dead man like a song to a lover who left without saying goodbye. With the new release of In Comfort, the duet of Lydia Lunch and Philippe Petit move out of the dark psycho-ambience of their previous Twist Of Fate and into a more intimate atmosphere. Using orchestral strings, vanguard soundscapes and collected field recordings to conjure up a dense, cinematic world, the sinister, yet inviting In Comfort mixes acoustic instrumentation with digital filtering, swaying and unfolding amid the psycho-film-noir syntax of a Lunchian universe.
DEDGE 002EP ROTCIV: Classic Age EP 12″ (DEDGE 002EP) 12.00
There are a myriad of references on ROTCIV’s “Classic Age”: from the rhythmic staccato strings of hip-house, to the hectic grooves of Italo disco to the unmistakable Detroit melodies. The remixes also pay homage to the musical realms that made “The Classic Age” possible: Ajello’s take on the track enhances its Italian identity; Detroit legend Terrence Parker updates the very sound upon which he built his reputation as one of house music’s finest names by strengthening its original deepness.
DOY 007LP VA: Andy Warhol’s Jazz Album Covers (Vol. 1) 5LP BOX (DOY 007LP) 75.00
“Doxy presents two box set collections of the rare jazz album covers designed by Andy Warhol in the 1950s. Everyone knows about the Velvet Underground & Nico cover or the Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers, but Warhol actually designed more than fifty album covers over the course of his career. A few years ago one might have been able to pick up a used copy of some of these albums for a few bucks, but since the publication of Paul Marechal’s 2008 book Andy Warhol: The Record Covers (1949-1987)and the 2009 Warhol Live exhibition–the first ever comprehensive retrospective of Andy Warhol’s album cover artwork–original copies have been known to change hands for thousands of dollars. For the most part three out of the four albums in each box have never been reissued on vinyl, and a few have also never been issued on CD, making this box set your only chance to own these Warhols. The four jazz albums collected in each box all come from that very exciting time in Warhol’s career (1954-58) when he, in addition to being a successful commercial designer, was also an up and coming fine artist. Through these covers, we can also see the evolution of Warhol’s ‘blotted ink’ style, which would become a hallmark of his later work. The calligraphic writing employed on some of the albums was done by Warhol’s mother. Her distinct handwriting would grace many of her son’s works over the years.” Albums: Monk by Thelonious Monk; Count Basie & His Orchestra by Count Basie; Trombone by Three by Jay Jay Johnson, Kai Winding, and Bennie Green (2LP); and Vol. 2 by Kenny Burrell. Numbered, limited edition of 500 copies.
DOY 008LP VA: Andy Warhol’s Jazz Album Covers (Vol. 2) 4LP BOX (DOY 008LP) 75.00
“Volume 2 of the 4LP box set presented by Doxy featuring collections of the rare jazz album covers designed by Andy Warhol in the 1950s. The four jazz albums collected in each box all come from that very exciting time in Warhol’s career (1954-58) when he, in addition to being a successful commercial designer, was also an up and coming fine artist. The flowers on Johnny Griffin’s The Congregation are an early example of his Flowers prints of the following decade.” Albums: Both Feet in the Groove by Artie Shaw; The Congregation by Johnny Griffin; The Story Of Moondog by Moondog; and Blue Lights by Kenny Burrell. RZ 1015/6CD XENAKIS, IANNIS: Iannis Xenakis 2CD (RZ 1015/6CD) 38.50
2003 release. Amazing Iannis Xenakis collection of historical recordings of essential works. Disc one features all works on CD for the first time; Disc 2 features different mixes of Xenakis’ most famous electronic works. “Disc one with the orchestra works represents an era of Xenakis’ development of polytope, geometrical, mathematical, based works from the late 1950s to the 60s in historical recordings earlier released on LP except for “ST/48″ which has not previously been released.” Includes: CD1: “ST/48” (for 48 Instruments, 1959-62); “Le Polytope de Montreal” (for four Orchestras, 1967); “Nomos Gamma” (for large orchestra scattered among the audience, 1967-68); “Terretektorh” (for large orchestra scattered among the audience); “Syrmos” (for 18 strings, 1959); “Achorripsis” (for 21 instruments, 1956-57). RZ 1018/19CD TUDOR, DAVID: Music For Piano 2CD (RZ 1018/19CD) 38.50
2007 release. Crucial compilation of David Tudor’s most historic performances of avant-garde and minimalist piano compositions, featuring works by these composers: John Cage, Morton Feldman, Christian Wolff, Sylvano Bussotti. Mostly seminal recordings from the mid-’50s, total date range of 1955-1963. Includes “Music For Piano 21-36,” “Variations 1,” “Variations II,” “Winter Music,” “Piece For Four Pianos” (including performance by Feldman). “David Tudor, pianist — a profession, a vocation, a life. From 1950 until around 1965, David Tudor was the epitome of the pianist who could simply play anything. In fact, David Tudor was no longer a name, but an indication for instrumentation as dozens of pieces were written ‘for David Tudor.’ As early as 1960, after having conquered all of the challenges posed by serial piano music, Tudor began to differentiate between composers who filled him with life and those who left him cold — the focus of his repertory became crystallized. The main criterion for his choices were shaped by the part he would play as interpreter in the composition. He distinguished carefully between having a free choice among prefabricated parts — generally called aleatoric, as for example, Stockhausen’s ‘Klavierstück XI’ (dedicated, as his ‘Klavierstücke V-VIII’, to Tudor) — and indeterminate actions. In the first case, they have a tendency to ‘put me to sleep,’ whereby pieces that are less limiting led him to say, ‘I feel that I’m alive in every part of my consciousness.’ The program of these CDs portrays these distinctions.” –Frank Hilberg
RZ 2002CD VON BIEL, MICHAEL: Jetzt Lieferbar! – Funf Kompositionen CD (RZ 2002CD) 20.00
2004 release. Michael von Biel’s musical production at the beginning of the 1960s was clearly marked by the expansion of the musical material. “Quartet No. 1” (1962) and even more, “Quartet No. 2” (1963) are noise compositions whose expressiveness rests essentially on the discovery of new sonic possibilities and performance techniques. Bowing with excessive pressure, playing behind the bridge, leading the bow in a diagonal direction, hitting the tip of the bow on the body of the instrument — these are the techniques with which the sound of the strings enters into the realm of noise. Whereas in the first quartet, the areas of musical sound and instrumental noise are still largely set off against one another, in the second quartet, the concept of a music based solely on noise is realized without compromise. Both of the compositions Quartet with Accompaniment for string quartet and cello (1965) and “Jagdstück” (“Hunting Piece”) for 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, 2 horns, 2 tenor tubas, contrabass, tape, e-guitars and electronically amplified barbecue grills (1966) are based on the contrast of divergent sound worlds. Before attending the composition courses of Karlheinz Stockhausen in Darmstadt for three years in a row starting in 1961, von Biel studied one year with Morton Feldman in New York where he met David Tudor and John Cage. Earlier than for most European composers, approaches in aesthetic thinking which couldn’t have been more different from one another collided in his consciousness, and this occurred at a point in time when their music-historical consequence could not yet be foreseen.

EMEGO 136LP VAN HOEN, MARK: The Revenant Diary 2LP (EMEGO 136LP) 27.50
2LP version. “Don’t look back,” repeats one of several voices within Mark Van Hoen’s The Revenant Diary, his fifth solo album and first release on Editions Mego. Surrounded by weighted beats, analog synthesizer drones and granular dirt, the unidentified, siren-like female voice’s advice is as much seduction as warning. Tellingly so, for as well as being both Van Hoen’s most ambitious and his most accessible work, The Revenant Diary is an eloquent meditation on the allures and dangers of memory, regret and nostalgia. The album’s foundation was shaped by a memory and a chance encounter. While remastering some of his early ’90s releases and Peel Session tracks, Van Hoen — a founding member of Seefeel, who also worked as Locust and in Seefeel offshoot Scala and has collaborated with Slowdive, Robert Fripp, Edison Woods and Esben And The Witch, amongst others — happened upon a track he had recorded in 1982. Attracted by its simplicity, he was inspired to record the basis of The Revenant Diary on 4-track tape, using a minimal set-up, reminiscent of his first early ’80s musical adventures as a young teenager. The recollection of one of these — a 13 year-old Van Hoen’s experiment in reel-to-reel tape recording of an ineffectual pop song playing on the radio, which spuriously transformed it into a spooky amalgam of backwards church organ and unintelligible voices — provided an evocative inspiration. The Revenant Diary pivots on this combination of complex reflection and simplified technology. A determinedly analog affair, it brims over with Van Hoen’s signature sounds: immersively-decayed drones, almost broken ambient surfaces and lulling rhythms, with granular crackle providing spectral grit. Fragments of female vocals pepper the album, and notably dominate the 10-minute epic “Holy Me,” one of Van Hoen’s most complex compositions, in which non-verbal sounds rub delicately against each other in an otherworldly choral composition. Less song-based than his last solo work, the well-received Where Is The Truth (CCO 046CD/LP), its palette and structure are more descendants of the 1995 album Truth Is Born Of Arguments, which utilized a similar combination of decayed atmosphere against a granular/glitch rhythmic structure. Tracks like “Laughing Stars At Night” and “Unknown Host” exude a powerful emotional undertow, as alluringly woozy as they are intensely contemplative. But this is no exercise in Instagram-style disposable nostalgia. Van Hoen’s adroit juxtapositions of gauzy textures evoke the blurred luminescence of 16mm film and the rich, color-saturated hues of rediscovered Polaroid photos, as the cover artwork, designed by Stephen O’Malley, acknowledges. The Revenant Diary expertly renders displaced memory daze in lushly melodic, gently delirious electronic sound. All titles composed by Mark Van Hoen. Recorded in Brooklyn & Woodstock, NY, 2011. All instruments & processing by Mark Van Hoen with additional vocals by Georgia Belmont. Housed in a deluxe full-color gatefold sleeve with spot-varnished design. The second LP is one-sided.
BAL 003CD SIAZ, HENRY: Balance 019 2CD (BAL 003CD) 23.00
Balance lines up Henry Saiz for another exciting chapter in their leading compilation series. The Spanish electronic producer brings his unique formula to the esteemed mix series with an exciting conceptualized approach. Through attempting to occupy the creative space closer to that of an artist album, rather than a club mix, Henry has delicately created an odyssey in sound. CD1 explores how music has the power to contain and store personal emotional experiences. This is the characteristic that Henry loves most about music, that “evocative power to send you back to your childhood or to a specific moment of your life.” In order to create that evocative and psychedelic atmosphere, this CD has an elaborately-crafted lo-fi sound through the use of varying analog formats such as cassette or vinyl. Saiz expertly harnesses his intricate knowledge of sound through the use of a multitude of layers, sampling, edits and the use of lot of vocals to create a melodic and intense experience that attempts to connect with memories and complex emotions. Following the same concept, but offering up a balance is CD2, which is more geared towards the dancefloor. As ever, the track selection is eclectic in its outlook, but has a definite tech-house feel that is tinged with the influence of house, melodic techno, disco and Detroit alongside the plethora of styles Saiz uses for his musical motivation. Adding to the experience is the fact that Henry has chosen to use only unreleased productions and exclusive collaborations with other artists. So there are plenty of rare inclusions on the track-list that make for a completely fresh listening experience. Notable highlights are Saiz’s own new downtempo version of “Lady In The Mirror” and new tracks from him like “Eterno Retorno,” which effortlessly fuses the past and present. Exclusively made for this are collaborations with Marc Marzenit, Dosem and Pional. New tracks like “Together” by Border Community’s Ricardo Tobar and Petar Dundov aka Solar Sailor’s “Horizons” revisit Henry’s musical journey with their distinctive progressive and futuristic sound. Additionally, Henry’s new moniker Hal Incandenza is featured here for the first time and offers up some amazing productions in the form of “Little Mountains” and also “Mystical Tree.” This is another truly breathtaking outing from one of electronic music’s gifted proponents, and fully lives up to the forward-thinking expectations of the seminal mix series. Other artists include: Tyrane, Jesse Somfay, Spada, Cora Novoa & Spaceman, Kitkaliito, Esperanza, Calypso Synth Ensemble, Armed, Eelke Kleijn, Mono Electric Orchestra, Charles Gudagafva, AMyn, Liz Cirelli & Minski, Okain, Simon Garcia, Anneke van Giersbergen and Sistema.
FIRE 177CD GIANT SAND: Backyard Barbeque Broadcast CD (FIRE 177CD) 17.50

FIRE 180CD GIANT SAND: Cover Magazine CD (FIRE 180CD) 17.50
“2002’s Cover Magazine is a much less cryptic, typically literal title for one of Giant Sand’s lighter alternative offerings. A collection of covers which says as much about Howe Gelb’s personal musical taste as it does the friends he has made on his musical journey.”
FIRE 191CD GIANT SAND: Is All Over The Map CD (FIRE 191CD) 17.50
“In 2004 Giant Sand had changed beyond recognition. A new Scandinavian backline which would enable Howe and Giant Sand to release the first original material since 2000’s Chore of Enchantment. This 25th anniversary reissue edition comes with an additional bonus track ‘A Quiet Remote.'”
FIRE 195CD THEE AMERICAN REVOLUTION: Buddha Electrostorm CD (FIRE 195CD) 17.50

Originally released on Garden Gate Records/Elephant 6 Recording Co., Fire Records rounded out Buddah Electrostorm with bonus material and fresh packaging.”
FIRE 195LP THEE AMERICAN REVOLUTION: Buddha Electrostorm LP (FIRE 195LP) 20.50
LP version.
Gatefold 2LP version. “I want the music to give me goosebumps. Music that moves my heart and soul.” –Quincy Jones; These words are in the deepest part of Douglas Greed and the approach to his debut album. He allows his heart to lead, the better to look where it goes. Therein he’s distributing straight dope; however, in the sense of emotional impact, dancefloor dictation it is not. Greed crafts music that serves up euphoria for your mind on the terrace, massage table, train or car trip and so on. This album has an enduring touch, and will remain in the mind for seasons to come. This is more weeping or laughing in the mirror rather than admiring the physical. Douglas favors sophisticated simplicity here, a sort of future-pop author who expressions his passions to the fullest. Beauty in darkness is also at play here — Greed’s unique signature. Features musician friends such as Mooryc, Pascal Bideau, Kemo, Ian Simmonds and Delhia de France. Greed casts twelve expressive pulse beats of pure Greed cosmos.

HJP 063EP RASHAD AND SPINN/R.P. BOO: Meet Tshetsha Boys And Shangaan Electro 12″ (HJP 063EP) 11.00
Absolutely lethal, classic footwork from these three originators — body-rocking, invigorating and startling, hybrid without compromise. The A is route-one dancefloor murder, honed and nasty, vintage Chicago and Detroit gone clear across the border; the flip is a fiercely dazzling juke vocal collage, bare and hard as nails.
INTAC 037EP CHUBE.KA: Drowned With Lies 12″ (INTAC 037EP) 12.00
Still relatively new on the production scene, Intacto is happy to welcome fresh, new talent Chube.Ka. “Drowned With Lies” is expressive and expansive. Drums create the depth while the high-hats spark to create a thick, rich rhythm undercurrent. One hell of a cool and sexy groove. “Give You Back (Vocal Mix)” features super-woofered muffled madness, providing serious dance output that throbs relentlessly. Then, the vocal duo soars in with their lover’s tune.
SOUL7 018EP BYRD, BILLY: Lost In The Crowd/Silly Kind Of Love 7″ (SOUL7 018EP) 11.00
This quality double-sider features Billy Byrd’s throaty vocals on two classic songs. Top drawer modern soul for the dancefloor with an irresistible heavy beat, solid rhythm and incessant, thumping groove, courtesy of funk producer Calvin Arnold. Upon its release in the ’70s, this record went nowhere and has remained extremely scarce ever since. Now this modern soul rarity is reissued fully licensed and restored from the original master tapes in a limited pressing of only 500 copies worldwide.
The second part of the Ki Split Series is a feature of Ki Records’ homegrown talents Christian Loeffler and Steffen Kirchhoff. On Ki Split Series 2 you can listen to Christian Loeffler and Steffen Kirchhoff experimenting with beautiful samples and underlining the whole piece with their unique sound structure, both in their respective very own romantic approach to deep, melancholic techno music.
KKT 003EP FREEDARICH: Lava Boy 12″ (KKT 003EP) 12.50
Freedarich’s Lava Boy sashays, floats and whispers, but at the same time, it rushes forwards and rejoices. One moment, it’s the calm ripple of the surf, in the next, it’s screaming, furious waves breaking on a rock. The music is the tranquility of the landscape and the agitation of the city. It’s the pulse of the club, the urge to dance. Eventually, the sounds fade away and bequeath a soft sense of melancholy: did minutes pass, or was it hours?
LITA 076LP VA: Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 1 2LP (LITA 076LP) 27.00
“Over two years ago, Bangkok crate digger Maft Sai from ZudRangMa Records Thailand compiled the now legendary Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 1 CD, showcasing eighteen forgotten Thai pop, garage rock, funk, and disco tracks by a cross-section of local 1960s-70s artists unknown outside of Southeast Asia. For those who missed the first edition or prefer their music (as we do) on black wax, Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 1 is now available as a stunning double LP package. Housed in a deluxe gatefold ‘tip-on’ old-school jacket with a plethora of vintage album art, lovingly remastered audio, and to top it off, the beautiful Thai print hand-stitched cloth outer sleeve (w/ 10+ color/pattern variations) that the original CD was famous for, we are honored to help spread this important cultural message. Easily our most ornate and eloquent packaging yet, it’s the eclectic and always captivating music that really shines. Despite the foreign track names and indigenous delivery, Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 1 occasionally echoes the familiar motifs of Western pop, rock, and soul acts like Pink Floyd on Kana TNT’s ‘Kod Hang Kam,’ B.T. Express on the Impossible’s take of ‘Do It (Till You’re Satisfied’) and James Brown on Meesak Nakaratch’s ‘Luk Ron.’ Combined with original material filled with ample fuzz guitar, burning organ, funky drumming, and passionate vocals, dropping the needle on Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 1 opens a musical door that very few in the western world have dared explore. Picture yourself at a seedy Bangkok discotheque in 1979 with your pals and prepare to party the night away.”
LITA 078LP VA: Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 2 2LP (LITA 078LP) 27.00
“For those who missed the original CD editions or prefer their music (as we do) on virgin black wax, Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 2 is now available as an epic double LP package. Housed in a deluxe gatefold ‘tip-on’ old-school jacket with a plethora of vintage album art, lovingly remastered audio, and to top it off, the beautiful Thai print hand-stitched cloth outer sleeve (w/ 10+ color/pattern variations) that the original compilations were famous for, it’s hands down our most ornate and eloquent packaging yet. But have no fear music fans, the funky freak-out East-meets-West sounds contained within are what really shine through. Artists from the first ZudRangMa comp, like the soulful Chantana Kittiyapan and disco funkateers Royal Sprites take a celebratory lap around some of Maft Sai’s fascinating new/old discoveries like the Impossible, who are still active in the music business. ‘Singto (Lion)’ from Bualuang OST/EP is a head nodding revelation. Equally important as an anthropological document and a party starting record, Thai Funk: ZudRangMa Vol. 2 is sure to be treasured by music lovers of all stripes. Ethnomusicologists and cultural navigators please take note – this is a learning experience of the best kind!”

Repressed. “The first ever recordings of Fred McDowell! Recorded by Alan Lomax in 1959. The first vinyl release dedicated entirely to this phenomenal recording session. 12 songs that highlight the depth of his repertoire – from droning & hypnotic versions of songs that later became blues standards such as ‘Shake Em On Down’ & ‘Good Morning Little Schoolgirl’ to his deeply felt renditions of spirituals like ‘Keep Your Lamp Trimmed & Burning’ . Accompanied at times by some amazing hair comb playing & beautiful backup vocals. Comes in an old school ‘tip on’ sleeve with liner notes by Nathan Salsburg. A co-release with our friends Domino Sound. The stuff of dreams.”

“Hypnotic recording session with griot ‘Ali’ Ag Amoumine at his home in Timbouctou. Playing the distinctive style of Northern Mali and Niger known as Takamba, droning electrified traditional guitar accompanied by a haunting rhythm tapped on a calabash, Ali navigates a repertoire drawing on music learned on his travels and his own compositions. Comes with a bonus 7″ of acoustic performances. Co-release with Sahel Sounds.”
MRP 008LP JONES & FAMILY, EDDIE LEE: Yonder Go That Old Black Dog LP (MRP 008LP) 13.00
Subtitled: Blues, Spirituals And Folksongs From Rural Georgia. “Stunning little known blues and spirituals session recorded in Eddie Lee Jones’ home in Lexington, Georgia in 1965. This is the only known recording by Eddie Lee and is as heavy as blues can get. Atmospheric recordings with plenty of stomping and whooping and singing along by Eddie Lees family and neighbors and recorded by Bill Koon. A real stunner from start to finish. For fans of Fred Mcdowell and Blind Willie Johnson. Old school ‘tip on’ cover. Co-release with Sutro Park records.”
MOBILEE 088EP OKPARA, RAY: Blues Me Blues 12″ (MOBILEE 088EP) 14.00
Ray Okpara returns to Mobileee with his Blues Me Blues EP. Coming as both an original and instrumental, “Blues Me Blues” is atmospheric and hypnotic, sprinkled with a beautiful vocal. Meanwhile, “Bounce To This” will wake the dancefloor out of any kind of hypnosis, with its punching bass line and hip house vocal. Lastly, “Hideout” is the deeper and calmer compliment, balancing out the whole EP and providing a satisfying amount of variety.
LOVE 073_074LP DEMDIKE STARE: Elemental Parts 1 & 2 2×12″ (LOVE 073_074LP) 47.50
Ever since Demdike Stare finished their Tryptych (LOVE 067CD) of releases, Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty have been busy touring and gradually piecing together sounds for this new series: Elemental. Made up of four parts: Chrysanthe, Violetta, Rose and Iris, parts One and Two are now available and come housed inside a lavish quad-gatefold book style cover that will hold all four parts when the series is complete in early 2012. The material itself features some of the most dense, eerie and evocative pieces ever recorded by Demdike, leavened by an almost industrial sense of rhythmic structure and atmosphere-building that creates a jet-black aesthetic only intermittently illuminated by shards of light. A double CD version of Elemental will be available in early 2012, although most of the tracks will appear as alternate versions on each format. That means that the majority of the tracks on this vinyl edition will not be available anywhere else in their present form. Mastered and cut at Dubplates + Mastering (including some hidden locked grooves), the packaging features specially commissioned artwork by Andy Votel.
MR 7239EP CRAMPS, THE: File Under Sacred Music: Early Singles 1978-1981 10×7″ BOX (MR 7239EP) 78.00
Limited edition 7″ boxset. Munster Records presents a compilation of the The Cramps’ early singles plus some tracks from the same period, 1978-1981, that were never issued in that format. Six replica sleeves and four new sleeves were especially designed for this edition. Plus a stamped envelope includes photos and memorabilia.”I’ve no idea why The Cramps don’t seem to figure in a lot of alleged histories of punk or just plain music in general. This could be down to them being utterly or unpigeonhole-able (is that even a word?) or just outright ignorance. Perhaps a bit of both, but hey, let’s not concern ourselves with that. The band changed the face of culture. Period. Without bothering ‘the charts’ or playing too many stadiums, their seismic effect on everything you hold dear will be felt for all time. This ancient knowledge — some of their grooviest gravy — is presented here for your delectation and delight. So get a crack-a-lackin’ with blasting these twisted hymns morning, noon and night. And while the ruckus is in full swing, pray to whoever might listen that Ivy will get around to compile the ultimate document of her undulating combo in commemoration of their services to entertainment. The bloody gears of this here rockin’ machine will be rolling way beyond the foreseeable future. Reasons outwith anyone’s control might mean that you can’t see the band anymore but no one — no how — will be able to make this thing stop. Meanwhile, dig into this feast for the little ghouls that understood all along or indeed anyone with a decent set of ears.” –Lindsay Hutton
NRX 001CD MACHINE DRUM: Want To 1 2? CD (NRX 001CD) 13.00
2009 release. “Sounding like a sweaty orgy between Daft Punk, Timbaland & Aphex Twin, this album sets the new standard. The message is in the title, a question that represents the sonic theme of dirty, dancefloor sex. Machinedrum spent 4 years working with the most forward-thinking independent vocalists recording what can only be described as 2012 pop music for the aquarian age. It explodes with dancefloor booming bass & mutant drum patterns interlaced with soul-speaking synth lines & cryptic messages.”
PING 029EP DIN A4, JAMES: Summer Of Seven 7/7 7″ (PING 029EP) 12.00
James Din A4 is the master of a stumbling, stubborn MPC techno style “made for dancefloors which have not been invented yet,” as a reviewer of his Pingipung album in 2009 wrote. These two tracks mark the end of the Summer Of Seven series, and they do it with a playfulness and in the best of humors. Hand-numbered limited edition of 200 copies.
PG 004EP FIDAN, TOLGA: Double Edge Sword EP 12″ (PG 004EP) 12.00
Executive chef Tolga Fidan provides the freshest ingredients to make these three entreés. Firstly, “Double Edge Sword (Original Mix)” does what Tolga does best: tease your psychedelic taste-buds. A meaty, umami-flavored ’80s electro-funk bass line anchors some wonderful call-and-response vocals. Secondly, Sammy Dee provides a reductionist exploration of sharp and concise textures, sounds and flavors. Jin Choi offers hints of citrus, acidic berries, chili and the occasional full-on root vegetable texture — all together, not unlike a funky-ass sorbet. On brown-colored vinyl.
R-N 130LP BYETONE: Symeta LP (R-N 130LP) 17.00
LP version. Byetone’s record Symeta opens with a combined track — a transit — since “Topas” and “T-E-L-E-G-R-A-M-M” could be seen as one single piece. Both tracks convey the atmosphere of a live session rather than the character of a studio production. The tracks are quite long and deal with repetition, layers of sounds, density and energy, more than melodic and engineering finesse. The whole album follows this approach, as it was fashioned within the context of live performances during the last two years. “Neuschnee” — the third track — has an obviously reduced tempo, creating a wide landscape of sound with an intimate aura, which works as a counter draft to the other tracks on the record. With “Opal,” the tempo speeds up again, a polyrhythmic phrase whirls around a straight beat, filters are turned, all that evokes the impression of early-’90s minimal techno. Byetone is basically interested in remembering, in a way to preserve, in citing rock/pop styles, without getting stuck in the past, whereas none of the tracks really fit into a specific genre. Seen from this perspective, “Helix” opens the final, more rocky block of the album. Here, the tracks are offensive and rude and sound like a band in a rehearsal room. This part peaks with “Black Peace” in a high-speed heavy metal session. Symeta, the title of the album, appears mysterious. This synthetic word arouses associations with symmetry, synthesis or (meta-) structures. It doesn’t stand for a definite object, there isn’t any solution, and that is the reason why the title has been chosen. Byetone’s music tries to create such associations without really fulfilling these expectations. In this sense, Symeta consequently follows Death Of A Typographer (R-N 092CD), this album’s well-received predecessor.
RER NECKS10 NECKS, THE: Mindset CD (RER NECKS10) 17.00
“Now in their twenty-fourth year, the Necks’ new release, Mindset, their sixteenth album, and first LP – features two starkly contrasting tracks: the pulsating, raw, ‘Rum Jungle’ and the slower building, rather hypnotic ‘Daylights.’ Polyrhythms imbue both pieces with powerful forward motion, embroiled with which ethereal piano patterns interweave with bass, drums, electronics, churning Hammonds and noise-guitars. Drummer and percussionist Tony Buck writes: Mindset shares some elements in common with our previous album Silverwater (RER NECKS9), mostly in some mixing approaches and rhythmic devices – a reflection of our ongoing fascination with polymetric material and varying simultaneous pulses, but it’s a whole other thing again, and the two tracks are very different from one another –‘Rum Jungle’ captures the live approach of the piano, bass, and drum trio a lot more, while ‘Daylights’ features a bed of electronics and little sounds that slowly converge, coalescing into a multi-layered, multi-tempo, swirling soundscape.”
RALP 307LP JONO EL GRANDE: The Choko King LP (RALP 307LP) 23.50
LP version; limited, numbered edition of 300 copies. The Choko King by Jono El Grande features recordings from the period between 1995 and 2008, some of which pre-dates his first album by four years. This album offers an open door into Jono’s surrealistic musical universe and is a rare gift to his increasing number of fans and anyone interested in the workings of a truly eccentric and artistic mind. The album has been meticulously assembled from home recordings, demos, rehearsal tapes, live and studio recordings and made into a completely new work by Jono himself. Jono El Grande is a self-taught composer, musician, conductor and prankster and remains an outsider on the far margin of the Norwegian experimental music scene. He released his debut mini-album Utopian Dances in 1999, a collection of absurdist instrumentals recorded at home using not much more than a workstation synth. 2003 saw the release of Fevergreens (RCD 2031CD), an album that drew upon classic progressive rock, film music, easy listening and a variety of pop idioms and featured a nine-piece orchestra. The Wire noted that “the vitality of his writing keeps just the right uplifting balance between sweetness and acidity” and called it “a pleasant surprise.” Next up was Neo Dada (RCD 2084CD/RLP 3084LP) in 2009, an album brimming with musical adventure, odd turns, weird combinations of sounds and instruments, complex signatures and a good portion of pure joy, all mysteriously sugared with infectious melodic hooks. Neo Dada represented something of an artistic breakthrough and received great reviews everywhere. This was followed by Phantom Stimulance (RCD 2106CD/RLP 3106LP) in late 2010. The sleeve paintings on The Choko King are by acknowledged Norwegian artist Christer Karlstad and show The Choko King, intentionally misspelled to point to the megalomaniac’s hubris: to choke on what you desire the most. Printed innersleeve includes nerdy details about each track from Jono.
RLP 3116LP ALOG: Unemployed 4LP (RLP 3116LP) 72.00
Limited, individually numbered 4LP edition, including 77 minutes of brand new music exclusive to this release. 3 of the 4 LPs are on white vinyl, all packaged in a plastic outer bag with a 4-page insert. Alog’s fifth album was recorded in a wide range of spaces and places — from recordings of Dag-Are Haugan and Espen Sommer Eide as street musicians in San Francisco while touring, to scavenging old collections of 78 rpm records in the mining town of Bjørnevatn in the far northeastern part of Norway. From on-the-spot recordings of Sigbjørn Apeland’s legendary collection of vintage harmoniums in the St. Jakobs Church in Bergen, to high-end capture of the unique sounds of Alog’s many custom-built instruments in the studios of Notam in Oslo and BEK in Bergen. For a period of three years, Alog collected material from all kinds of sources, times and situations and made new songs that constantly push their creative freedom in unexpected directions. Alog was formed in Tromsø in the late ’90s. While touring and composing over the past years, the duo has met a lot of unique musicians, and for Unemployed, they were invited to extend Alog into new constellations, whether it meant the soothing harmonium drones of Sigbjørn Apeland, the minimalist fiddle improvisations of the Sheriffs Of Nothingness (Ole Henrik Moe and Kari Rønnekleiv), the resonating everyday objects of the talented young sound artist Signe Lidén or the magical voices of fellow Rune Grammofon artist Jenny Hval and the legendary Dutch sound poet extraordinaire, Jaap Blonk. All join in to explore new musical territory, either together or by being invited to create their own pieces for the album. The result is an open-ended collection of voices and expressions, genres, sounds and non-sounds that define a new extended version of Alog. “On previous albums we have worked slowly, controlling every minute detail of our pieces. With Unemployed, we wanted to explore and exhibit the compositional process, the experiments, the rough sketches and the stream of ideas that goes into it, and not just a series of perfected tracks. Our goal was to free ourselves from standard song-structures and album-formats widespread today.” –Alog, 2011

SNDW 033LP BLACK TRUTH RHYTHM BAND: Ifetayo LP + 7″ (SNDW 033LP) 22.00
LP version with a bonus 7″ single and free download. Soundway return once more to the Caribbean and are proud to present Ifetayo by Black Truth Rhythm Band, originally released in 1976. Led by the charismatic Oluko Imo, Ifetayo was the only release from the Afro-centric Trinidadian band and is re-issued here for the first time on CD and vinyl. Whereas most of their peers were taking inspiration from U.S. funk and soul artists such as James Brown, Black Truth Rhythm Band looked to Africa, fusing rhythms from Africa and the West Indies with elements of jazz, funk, calypso and soul. In 1975, band leader Imo took his musicians into the studio to record the album Ifetayo. Imo played bass, kalimba, conga, flute and percussion as well as lead vocals. The album was released the following year in 1976 and despite being released in the U.S., remained an underground, albeit unique and forward-thinking record that has remained out-of-print for years now. Ifetayo was to be the only release from Black Truth Rhythm Band, but Imo continued his music and love of African rhythms, going onto record with Fela Kuti in 1988 and later on perform with members of Fela’s Egypt 80 band.
SNDW 12001EP SULLEY/THE OGYATANAA SHOW, OSCAR: Bukom Mashie/Disco Africa 12″ (SNDW 12001EP) 15.50
2011 repress, originally released in 2004: The very first Soundway 12″ release featuring two highly-charged, Afro-funk tracks from Oscar Sulley and The Ogyataana Show Band. The tracks appear in both their original form and remixed versions by Quantic, all guaranteed to get the feet moving. Released just prior to the critically-acclaimed Ghana Soundz: Afro-Beat, Funk & Fusion In 70’s Ghana (SNDW 001CD), the lead track “Bukom Mashie” featured on the soundtrack to the Hollywood blockbuster Last King Of Scotland. Includes mp3 download code.
Soundway continue their journey into Colombia with this limited edition 45 featuring two bolts of Colombian dancefloor thunder. Both songs were originally released on the legendary Colombian label Discos Tropical and are re-issued here for the first time out of Colombia. Side A features a version of the party standard “Tequila” by Orquesta Tropicana. Side B is a version of the legendary Fania salsa track “Lluvia Con Nieve” that was originally released in 1964 on the New York label. Includes mp3 download code.
SOUVENIR 043EP TIEFSCHWARZ (FEAT. MAMA): Dominate My Sensations 12″ (SOUVENIR 043EP) 12.00
Tiefschwarz beckon you to “Dominate My Sensations” with their latest single on Souvenir. And with its booty-shaking, bass-bumpin’ funky house vibe, it’s ripe for the plucking on dancefloors everywhere. The title track kicks things off with a dual attack of bass and hi-hat; then takes a firmer hold with its sultry vocals. The B-sides include an energetic reimagining from Chris Wood & Meat, and Pascal Feos & Frank Leicher dial up the sleaze quotient, murking out the bass line and distorting the vocal.
SWS 011EP DAN, SAMUEL: Shake It 12″ (SWS 011EP) 12.00
Already played by Mathias Kaden, Lauhaus, Kabale Und Liebe and Julien Chaptal, Samuel Dan drops his debut on Soweso. Two amazing originals with undeniably funky rhythms and crazy FX. On remix duties are two big talents and friends of the label: the first is by Cadenza artist Andrea Oliva and the second is by Amsterdam underground DJ Efdé. Both remixes are not to be missed.
SG 3003LP BAKERY: Momento LP (SG 3003LP) 22.00
Formed in Perth in 1970, progressive rock outfit Bakery is generally regarded as one of the best of Australia’s early ’70s underground bands. The band’s music blended hard rock with country and jazz, using complex arrangements and exhibited the ability to switch from gentle acoustic passages to booming, heavy progressive assaults on the senses within the same song. Momento, released in 1971, was described by rock journalist Ian McFarlane as a European-influenced recording full of sprawling, moody progressive rock cuts like “Faith To Sing A Song,” the jazzy “Living With A Memory,” and the hugely impressive “Holocaust.” Fully remastered and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve.
SG 3004LP PURPLE IMAGE: Purple Image LP (SG 3004LP) 22.00
Purple Image’s eponymous and only album merged a strong blend of soul funk and psych rock to considerable effect. Released in 1970 on the obscure Map City label, Cleveland-based Purple Image sadly managed only this lone effort. Its clever use of fuzz and wah-wah guitar demonstrates a clear Hendrix influence, as does the second side’s final track, “Marching To A Different Drummer,” a 15-minute guitar jam extravaganza. The overall sound is tight and driving, making for a truly excellent album with some outstanding cover art. Fully remastered and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.
SBR 5026LP MIGHTY BABY: A Jug of Love LP (SBR 5026LP) 22.00
2011 repress. This is the first official LP re-issue of UK psych legends Mighty Baby’s second and final album. A Jug of Love sank without a trace on its original appearance in late 1971, but has gone on to become one of the best-loved recordings of its time. Produced by Mike Vernon (David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Ten Years After), it showcases their fluid, expressive musicianship and the astonishing guitar playing of Martin Stone to glorious effect. This long-awaited reissue has been mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Nick Webb from the original tapes with the band’s full involvement. This unique edition comes complete with lavish gatefold sleeve, rare photographs, and full liner notes, making it an essential purchase for all fans of acid folk and psychedelia.
SBR 5063LP ANDWELLAS DREAM: Love And Poetry 2LP (SBR 5063LP) 31.00
2011 repress. 180 gram double LP version in gatefold sleeve. Sunbeam is delighted to announce the definitive reissue of this quintessential British psychedelic classic. Recorded by the youthful trio Andwellas Dream in the summer of 1969, it’s packed with strong songs and powerful acid guitar, as well as contemporary production flourishes and a guest appearance from cult jazzman Bob Downes. Produced with the full involvement of the band’s leader David Lewis (who also contributes detailed sleevenotes), the album is presented here with all their non-album 45s, alternate mixes, as well as other bonus tracks and a full booklet featuring rare photographs, making it the most comprehensive edition of this legendary album ever assembled.
TW 009EP TRAVERSABLE WORMHOLE: Vol. 9 12″ (TW 009EP) 14.00
Continuing on his intergalactic journey, Traversable Wormhole now enters into the portal entitled Vol. 9. “World Line” is a hypnotic, dark, tonal 4/4 deep bass-driven affair that intensifies in relative velocity as it travels through four dimensional space-time. “Present Hypersurface” is a punchy, percussive, broken-beat affair, with layered, special, droning string tones and melodious, thick analgous white noise. On dark green/blue-colored vinyl.
LP version. The Trost label presents a live recording from the trio Sonore, featuring Peter Brötzmann (tenor and alto sax, clarinet and taragato), Ken Vandermark (tenor sax and clarinet) and Mats Gustafsson (baritone sax). All compositions by Brötzmann, Vandermark and Gustafsson. Recorded at Café OTO, London, for Jazz On 3, BBC Radio 3, April 20th 2011.

LPS 101LP ELEKTRIKTUS: Electronic Mind Waves LP (LPS 101LP) 28.00
“Out of the mysterious mind of Andrea Centazzo came Elektriktus. Originally released on the PDU label, the LP Electronic Mind Waves offers a collection of eight synth-fueled songs that sound very close to what kraut/cosmische heads were doing at the time, think of Conrad Schnitzler, Deuter or Cosmic Jokers, and also other European experimentalists like Richard Pinhas’ Heldon, Spacecraft, Didier Bocquet, Seesselberg, F.G. Experimental Laboratory, Roberto Cacciapaglia or Hydrus. Along with Cacciapaglia and Hydrus, Elektriktus shows the most adventurous experimental sounds under a kraut/cosmische music influence to ever come out of Italy. Centazzo was already a highly experienced musician when he produced this LP in his home studio in 1976. He had been the drummer on Giorgio Gasslini’s Quartet, with whom he also recorded several LPs, and also on his own jazz band Ictus (actually the name Elektriktus came out of melting his electronic experiments with his former band’s name). He’s actually one of the key names from the Italian improv/free-jazz scene and the driving force behind the ICTUS label. Strongly recommended to fans of minimal electronic music, kosmische sounds and ambient soundscapes. The Wah Wah reissue comes in an exact repro of its original sleeve and features an insert with information and photos. Strictly limited to only 500 copies.”
LPS 102LP AME SON: Catalyse LP (LPS 102LP) 28.00
“The origins of Ame Son go back to the mid-sixties, when Bernard Lavialle (guitar), Bernard Stisi (guitar, vocals), Patrick Fontaine (bass) and Marc Blanc (drums) formed Les Primitivs circa 1965. They took the Parisian stages with a Yardbirds/Pretty Things inspired wild R&B set, and they kept active until Stisi left in 1967. At that point they changed their name to Expression, and with a more experimental approach they took their newly find free rock sound a la Soft Machine to night clubs and also to exhibitions of modern art. It was around that time that Marc Blanc met Australian ex-patriate Daevid Allen, who had been the guitarist with the Soft Machine until he hadn’t been allowed to return to the UK after some south of France gigs of the band. Allen settled in Paris where he would form Gong, but before that he was to be joined by Blanc and Fontaine in his new project Banana Moon. After the Banana Moon period Lavialle, Fontaine, Blanc and flutist Francois Garrel regrouped under the name of Ame Son and were featured with great acclaim on some of the most important festivals of the era. The BYG label signed them and in 1970 they recorded their now legendary LP. The album was conceived pretty quickly and it has a spontaneous, energetic psychedelic/free rock feel with a pretty psychedelic prog sound that drinks from the same springs as bands such as Gong, the Soft Machine, the Pink Floyd or Guru Guru. Ame Son were one of the earliest French rock bands to go beyond the conventional rock and roll of the time, and Catalyse is considered to be one of the first truly progressive/underground efforts at thrity-three tours in France. The Wah Wah reissue features the original German gatefold cover, remastered sound, a repro of a very cool original Ame Son period poster plus photos and liner notes. Strictly limited to only 500 copies.”
LPS 103LP AME SON: Primitive Expression LP + 7″ (LPS 103LP) 30.00
“Primitive Expression is an amazing collection of unissued at the time studio material that proves Ame Son were a really amazing band, since this material sounds equally good as that of their official LP, if not better! It will appeal to fans of Gong, the early Soft Machine, Pink Floyd and in general anyone with interests in the field of experimental free form underground psychedelic rock. It also includes the two songs from their only 45. Additionally, this LP features a PS 7″ with the fabulous ‘Sweet Georgia’ song by the Primitives for lovers of freakbeat floor killers.” Includes an insert with liner notes and photos.
LPS 104LP HELDON: Agneta Nilsson LP (LPS 104LP) 28.00
“After our acclaimed reissues of the previous three LPs by Richard Pinhas’ project Heldon, here is their fourth LP originally issued on Disjuncta/Urus in 1976. Agneta Nilsson is an interesting step in Heldon’s development: it gives a twist to their classic sound, which was mainly built around Pinhas’ Fripp-esque guitar work and ambient synth experiments to begin to explore a more rhythmic territory. Drums and bass take more presence here, offering a ‘rockier’ feel, but somehow retaining the mysterious ambience of its predecessors, while adding an extra touch of sinister aggressiveness. Featuring among others Magma’s keyboardist, Patrick Gauthier, it starts pretty much in the same ambient, spacey, minimalist electronic mood of the previous Heldon releases, but as the development of the main title ‘Perspective’ goes ahead the move towards the more guitar and drums sound of the next to come Heldon sound is evident. Agneta Nilsson’s sound has been described somewhere as ‘a more sinister Tangerine Dream mixed with a more jammy King Crimson. Our reissue comes housed in a faithful reproduction of the original sleeve. It is made in a strictly limited edition of only 500 copies.”
“Roberto Cacciapaglia had already gathered attention for his excellent work at the keyboards on Franco Battiato’s legendary second LP Pollution before joining forces with Krautrock mastermind Rolf Ulrich Kaiser for the release of his 1975 masterpiece Sonanze. Cacciapaglia self-produced the album in Milan for the Cosmic Couriers label, and it certainly brings echoes of some cosmiche kraut experiments like those of Popol Vuh, Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream, yet retaining a unique personality of its own. Actually it’s the feel given by Cacciapaglia’s mixture of classical sense compositions (he was trained in Milan’s Giuseppe Verdi conservatory) with adventurous experimentalism (he worked for the RAI’s phonology research team and also at the CNR in Pisa) what makes the sound of Sonanze so unique. According to the Scented Gardens of the Mind book, ‘good musical references might be Terry Riley, Franco Battiato (Sulle corde di Aries), Klaus Schulze (Cyborg) and William Scheller (Lux Aeterna).’ In a 500 copies only limited edition featuring an insert with liner notes.”
WLM 018EP PILLOW TALK: Far From Heaven EP 12″ (WLM 018EP) 12.00
Pillow Talk continue to impress with their latest Wolf + Lamb release. Masters of weaving a variety of styles and influences with sumptuously nostalgic live vocals, this debonair San Fran trio is fast becoming a prolific force on the global scene. Bursting with original vocal flair, the Far From Heaven EP is a steamy four-tiered affair, between the sheets and under the disco ball, where tales of lust and desire unfold to the soundtrack of ’80s sex music and soulful house.
WWR 003EP GREEN, CAMILLA: Out Of Business 12″ (WWR 003EP) 12.50
Two children of 35 tired of life, indecisive if they should commit suicide or continue to produce boring and repetitive music. In the end, the boring and repetitive music wins — perhaps because making house music is the best way to feel alive.

PETER BJÄRGÖ “The Architecture Of Melancholy” CD / Digital (41st Cycle)
Peter Bjärgö, the man behind the now legendary groups ARCANA and SOPHIA is back with his second solo album. On his first solo release “A wave of Bitterness”, we got a glimpse into the mind of a thoughtful person. Now this new release, “The Architecture Of Melancholy”, we are sent onto a journey to the darkest depths of Peter’s mind and thoughts. Melancholy was once a disease, a mental statement of chronic depression, we are now facing this illness again around the world and this album is a real journey with the melancholic mind. Titles like Bitteresque, Apathy and The Death Of Our Sun give us an idea of the aural voyage ahead. The delicate blend of soft guitars, engulfing dark ambient and the sheer power of Peter’s voice make this album a shining diamond among stones. Hope is all that is left…

THERRADAEMON “Den Mørke Munnens Språk” CD / Digital (39th Cycle)
“Den mørke munnens språk”, translating to “Language of the dark mouth” is a new aural venture from Hærleif Langas (Northaunt), and definitely his most massive and ominous dark ambient project to date. Designed to open beneath you as a trapdoor, the 4 mammoth tracks on this first album are a reflection of a more sinister side of the psyche made from deep ambient structures and constantly evolving drones. Atmospheric and slowly moving it taps into the hidden maelstrom of the mind.
Edition of 500 copies. In gatefold Hub pack. 4 Tracks. Running Time 57:00

VORTEX “Rockdrill” CD / Digital (35th Cycle)

Vortex is a German sound art project from :Golgotha: and Aeterna member Marcus Stiglegger, challenging the boundaries of ritual and dark ambient music. After the critically acclaimed debut album “Phanopoeia” (2008) out on Tesco Organization and the media book/soundtrack “Silence” (:Ikonen: media 2009), the new full length album ‘Rockdrill’ continues on the same path and mobilizes acoustic instruments (guitar, percussion, piano), voice, electronics and samples to create a unique and very epic sound monument in 11 parts. Vortex is named after a modernist British art movement of the 1920s called Vorticism, headed by Ezra Pound and Wyndham Lewis. The new album ‘Rockdrill’ is especially inspired by a sculpture called ‘Rock Drill’by the Vorticist artist Sir Jacob Epstein (1880-1959). It was built according to his sketches in 1913-14 to symbolize ‘the terrible Frankenstein’s monster we have made ourselves into’. The sculpture had a huge influence on the Vorticist movement and inspired several cantos by Ezra Pound (LXXXV–XCV, Section: Rock-Drill, 1956). It was destroyed during the war and cast again in bronze in 1962. Epstein himself did not like the sculpture and decided to “save” only a part of the actual figure – not the rock drill itself. The concept of this album is to reconstruct the history, mood and allegory of this piece of sculptural art as well as its impact on modern art movements. A 12 page booklet adds rare visual documents to the whole.‘Rockdrill’ by Vortex is consciously caught between archaic and modern energies, between history and present. This truly complex album transcends the frontiers of ambient soundscapes in order to awake a nearly forgotten sense of beauty and grace within modernist avant-garde by using twisted rhythm patterns, pounding industrial percussion and fragile organic ambiance.Fans of Northern European post industrial acts will appreciate this album for it sheer power and atmospheric strength while sound art listeners will slowly uncover layer after layer of this many faced composition.

Edition of 500 copies in 4 panel digi sleeve with 12 page booklet.

NEW RISEN THRONE “Loneliness Of Hidden Structures” CD / Digital (38th Cycle)
New full length album by Italy’s New Risen Throne which marks a welcomed return to Cyclic Law. “Loneliness Of Hidden Structures” is the latest chapter of a series that began with “Whispers Of The Approaching Wastefulness” (Cyclic Law 2007) and continued on with “Crossing The Withered Regions” (Cold Meat Industry 2009). The first of this series is explained as the annunciation of the end, while the second part was expressing the advent of this end. Now this third chapter speaks of rebirth. Within the caves and ruins left by the destruction, there begins to form the first foundations and structures of a reconstruction that is in turn in constant evolution. The album’s track listing is structurally organized in order to evoke that evolution:
1. The echoes of the end that travel through the empty regions (“Into Lungs declining structures”, “Echoes from the loss”)
2. New forms listening to the “silence” of a new world (“Loneliness”, “New Risen Throne”, “Lands filled with silence and grief”)
3. Structures evolving and coming out from the shadows (“A vision of the hidden”, “Breath of growing structures”)
Filled with New Risen Throne’s now trademark sound of deep cavernous drones, processed voices and percussive moments, this new album is a superb follow up to his now impressive discography. Features exclusive remixes by Nordvargr and Northaunt.

Edition of 1000 copies. Enhanced CD with a special Video Clip of the track New Risen Throne (I), comes in a 4 panel A5 folder.

AIDAN BAKER – ‘Bach Eingeschaltet, Vierter Band’ 7″ (Reue Um Reue) – £12 / £13 / £14
The fourth installment of “Bach Eingeschaltet” by Canadian guitar-drone hero Aidan Baker (Nadja) is a double-edged sword: his interpretations of the maestro are both the closest to the originals, almost academic in execution, and in the end the most deconstructive. The live arrangement for electric guitar of the famous cello suite ‘Prelude’ slowly but surely drowns in a mist of effects abuse, while the epic and lush metal-drone version of a menuet is carried away by Nadja-esque lumbering guitar chords in streams of boundless distortion. Packaged in a cardboard foldout sleeve and limited to just 166 (!!) hand-numbered copies on clear silver grey vinyl.

ARGENTUM – ‘Aguilas De Libertad’ CD (UFA Muzak) – £11 / £12 / £13
The new album from the Argentine team is a tremendous step forward from their previous works. At over an hour long, they present a lot more songs and live percussive instruments. A very original work combining combative military pop and neofolk songs with neoclassical and post-rock instrumental tracks in the spirit of O Paradis and Canaan. The lyrics of the album touch on the degeneration of modern society with modern man being colonised by consumerism. Presented in an A5 sleeve with 2 inserts.

ASPECTEE – ‘Jour Cinq’ CD (Black Drone) – £11 / £12 / £13
Second full-length album, following the debut “Morben” on First Fallen Star. Aspectee is a project of German musician Michael Frenkel (Evoke Scurvee). With “Jour Cinq” Aspectee presents a massive droning creation, dark and intense while transparent and organic at the same time. Over one hour of hypnotising music. This is the pure art of drone!

BJ NILSEN & STILLUPPSTEYPA – ‘Big Shadow Montana’ LP (Helen Scarsdale Agency)
– £14 / £17.50 / £21
After producing their frozen trilogy of intoxicated dronemuzik for the Agency, these Scandinavian gentlemen have ventured into more absurdist territories through fictionalised soundtracks for imagined Mondo films and science fiction serials. It is in this context that BJ Nilsen & Stilluppsteypa present the apparitional “Big Shadow Montana”, an album of slow-motion delirium manifested in occluded smears, nocturnal gasps, and arcane tones from a variety of analogue synthesizers. A spiraling symphony of bubbling electronics and spectral drones that mutate on both sides of the record into lugubrious yet carnivalesque waltzes. A pyrrhic jubilation of calliope harmonies set down by organs and synths turning a pale-blue hue in the wake of all that white skin shivering underneath the arctic sky. Comes with a download code.

FATUM ELISUM – ‘Homo Nihilis’ CD (Aesthetic Death Records) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Four long tracks of awesome and epic Doom! Since their self-titled debut, Fatum Elisum have progressed and matured, and have now forged their own style of Doom, albeit with a healthy reference to the early 90s sounds of Cathedral, Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. A thoughtful and melancholic album – with a stunning vocal display from Ende. 71 minutes long. Quality recording and great artwork – highly recommended album!

KEY – ‘Silver Moon Slumber’ CD (Anima Arctica) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Hailing from the cold but beautiful climes of Finland, Key are purveyors of dreamy and evocative Neofolk. “Silver Moon Slumber” is a beautiful album, at once trancelike and atmospheric, conjuring cold but joyous landscapes in the mind’s ear. Musically, the album’s architecture is built around jangling acoustic guitars, expressive basswork, and fluid drumming. Resonant and eerie vocals provide the direction for the music, which is occasionally supported by chimes or fiddle. Key are gloomy and at times heavy in that particularly Finnish folk music way; but they are also playful and uplifting.
MAA – ‘Tuhkankantajat’ CD (Anima Arctica) – £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
A groundbreaking band, right on the leading edge of what neofolk as a genre can be capable of. “Tuhkankantajat” draws together folk, classical, experimental, ambient and noise influences with quiet and organic perfection. Although built on a core of acoustic guitar, bass, drums, and pathos-laden Finnish vocals, MAA also use piano, chimes, strings, and various electrical devices. Each song invites us into a rich weave: introspective, sombre, edgy, emotionally complex. Mournful-wistful-joyous, weary elation, measured but indefatigable momentum. Aching beauty, inky and dark and heavy, yet dappled with sunlight like the earth in a primordial forest. “Tuhkankantajat” is darkness tempered with ecstasy; raw and sophisticated; deeply interior yet verging on the boundless. These Finnish masters have been quietly forging rich new possibilities for Neofolk. Ltd x 500 copies.
NECROPHORUS – ‘Underneath The Spirit Of Tranquility (Redux Version)’ CD (Wrotycz)
– £11 / £12 / £13
Necrophorus is a project of Peter Andersson (Raison D’Etre). “Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility” is a painted story canvas for the otherwise unreachable astral world. Adorned with esoteric ambience, one feels as though embarking on a path of inner ascension while breathing the immaterial tranquilities. This redux version of ‘Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility’ (originally released 1996) has been carefully re-mixed for enhanced experience and spiced up with two additional tracks. The artwork consists of drawings by Elinros Henriksdotter. 75mins of music. Comes in a folding outsize cover with 6 card inserts.

Pyhä Kuolema is a solo project of Mikko Pöyhönen after the Neofolk duo Tuhat Kuolemaa Sekunnissa disbanded. Out of the ruins grew something new, beautiful and fresh – the birth of  an extremely intimate, emotional, personal, and spiritual solo-project. Traditional to the bone, ”Saavun Vaikken Kulkisi” brings forth a dozen of atmospheric, national romantic, extremely emotional and personal songs sung in Finnish. The style of playing and singing varies from solemn ritualistic Neofolk songs to troubadour-like playful approach to traditional folk. Ltd x 300 copies.
SEWER GODDESS – ‘Verdigris’ 7″ (Baseborn) – £7 / £8 / £9
The bodies of two teenage girls were discovered on Sunday, July 29, 1973 on a dirt road near Coquille, OR. Both were nude and each girl shot once in the chest. The weapon used in the killings was a .22 cal rifle. The teenagers had been on a hiking and camping trip in LaVerne Park when the two met Roger Lynn Green who would later kill the two girls without provocation in a sudden and spontaneous act of violence. “Verdigris” was released on the 37th anniversary of the murders as a commemoration of sorts. The focus of this record is on the two victims Kathleen Marie Bechtel & Vicki Louise Fawcett. Fetid Death industrial. 2nd edition in a black print on grey sleeve with insert.

SPIRACLE – ‘Ananta’ 2 x CD (Helen Scarsdale Agency) – £15 / £16 / £17
Hitoshi Kojo (aks Spiracle) professes to have some difficulties in falling asleep. When sleep comes to him, it can often arrive at dawn, when the colours of the sun begin to break through the darkness of night. Ananta is a twin set of compositions that urge the listener toward a dreamless sleep-state, while reflecting the glowing warmth of a blossoming sunrise. In constructing the two variations of Ananta, Kojo began with finely tuned drones extracted from a Dilruba and a Sarangi, and applied a process of merging sympathetic field recordings and other tonal interferences alongside those instrumental sounds. The resulting pieces are elliptically static drone compositions that brightly shimmer with hues of gold, crimson, and aquamarine. Ltd x 300 copies.

SUI GENERIS UMBRA – ‘Ater’ CD (Dying Art Productions) – £11 / £12 / £13
Sui Generis Umbra is the new guise of Polish act Umbra. Dark haunted occult music, similar to Aghast. The music of Umbra has a special, magical, dark and secret atmosphere. It flows out of a lonely heart which belongs to a creature from another world. A world with no time, a world freed from reality. Hidden in the world of solitude and darkness, living among the old superstitions Lady Lugalla describes a world in which the unreal coexists with the real. Howling of the distant wind, scornful yells, the singing of bells playing the demons’ song called Ater. A song which comes straight out of the depths of Lady Lugalla’s heart. A spell that takes the listener on a trip to the magical world of The Witch! Originally released in 2000 by Fluttering Dragon, now re-issued with new artwork in an edition of 500 copies.

YAN JUN – ‘Music For Listening On The Moon’ CD (Kwanyin Records) – £13 / £14 / £15
One hour of continual sound, entwined with the other dim sounds of your room. “Music For Listening On The Moon” is a continuation of “Wormhole Trip OST” (Kwanyin, 2009). “A contemplative album of innerspace travel. The album transcends its humble productions of sinusoidal flutterings of pedal sourced feedback and squiggling aquatic field recordings treated with ring modulation, as Yan seeks a radically different approach to the cosmic listening embarked by the likes of Cluster and Tangerine Dream, whose baroque expansiveness has been subsumed by the vacuum of outerspace, with just those two sources intertwining in an endless mobius strip of silvery drone and pointilist tactility. It sounds more like Steve Roden taking over an Asmus Tietchens album and allowing the electronically treated sounds and tones to organically evolve into a radiant blossom instead of the purposefully cold and sometimes stiff compositions that Tietchens often produces” (Aquarius). Digipak.
ASBAAR – ‘Corona Veli Aurei’ CD (Black Drone) – £11 / £12 / £13

Asbaar is a new dark ambient musical project by Marc Merinee (Eldar). “Asbaar is a meeting with our ancestors who speak to us in our dreams, and teach us how to run our lives, everything that lies between the energies that move the world. To hear is to connect with our collective conscience, irrational consciousness that unites all living things together with all the energy that moves the universe.” (Marc Merinee). 6-panel digipak.

ENEMITE – ‘Wuyuan’ CD (Dying Art Productions) – £11 / £12 / £13

Enemite offer angry and dense atmospheres; more of a ceremony, a circle of forming. Lost in the noise of hell, an evil creature wanders up and down forever. “Please close the doors and windows to turn off the light and listen alone!” Dark, gloomy and sinister. Death-inspired Ritual Ambient with an inherent Chinese feel. Comes in a stark A5 B&W gatefold sleeve / “ecopack” with insert and Chinese text throughout. Ltd x 1000 copies.

HYPNOZ – ‘Breath Of Earth’ CD (Zhelezobeton) – £11 / £12 / £13

Hypnoz is a project of Dmitry Zubov, a Moscow musician, who endowed lovers of post-industrial music with such names as Hum and Staruha Mha. Since 1993 Hypnoz has released one CD on Russian label Insofar Vapour Bulk, which gathered tracks from different periods and a couple of very limited editions. The basis of most of the tracks for “Breath of Earth” was recorded by Dmitry together with Evgeny Voronovsky (Cisfinitum) during their joint night psychedelic sessions, and this is evidently felt in their mood. Stylistically this can be called tranquil electronic ambient with a remarkable experimental touch. Slowly twisting sound helixes, drawing inside the astral subspaces, pulsating rhythms, cosmic sounds of old analogue synths. Outsize package. Ltd x 500 copies.

IRR. APT. (EXT.) – ‘Kreiselwelle’ CD (Helen Scarsdale Agency) – £11 / £12 / £13

Irr. app. (ext.) is a project of Californian M.S. Waldron (recent live member of Nurse With Wound). “Kreiselwelle” (“Spiral Wave”) is the third and final installment to a body of works composed under the influence of Wilhelm Reich, the unorthodox 20th Century psychologist. Waldron returns to the same collection of field recordings which began this trilogy; however, he restricted himself to those with spiralling origins: resonating springs, the ocean cyclically churning over pebbles on the beach, the wafting of air around various objects… A richly dark and oddly serene amalgamation. Nice artwork with spot varnishing.

ZHURONG – ‘Zhurong’s Anger’ MCD (Dying Art Productions) – £9 / £10 / £11

Reissue of the great fantastic debut from this Chinese act (Ltd x 100 copies, 2005). “Zhurong’s Anger” (“Anger Of The Fire God”) is a Cathay Martial, dark ambient epic about the Qin Dynasty’s invincible legion. 4 tracks of dark, solemn and despotic music. Ltd x 500 copies in a card sleeve with printed paper inner sleeve and insert. Chinese import.

HERBST9 Ušumgal Kalamma 2xCD BOX EDITION

Deluxe Boxset edition incl. Ušumgal Kalamma 2xCD, two inserts and a silkcreen printed t-shirt.

Limited and handnumbered to 150 copies!

Available in sizes XL -L -M.

What began with the previous releases, “Buried Under Time and Sand” and
“The Gods Are Small Birds…” comes now to the final chapter and
climax, with an epic double album, Usumgal Kalamma:

“The written word that  has come down to us through the discovery
of the ancient civilizations of Sumer and Akkad and the deciphering of their
languages and writing systems speaks of flourishing city-states, their holy
places, their great rulers, their deeds in peace and war, their gods and demons,
their rituals, their  tales of creation and much more.”

Usumgal Kalamma is a huge and rich soundwork, divided into two parts
that transport the listener into the realms of the archaic world.
It is an invitation to explore a mythic age in history whereby the inventions
of these people are still connected with us today.
Intense ritualistic and percussive drumming melt with deep atmospheric
drones, invocations, otherwordly tones and various acoustic instruments
such as gongs, bells and zither. This sonic prayer is Herbst9´s
trademark  of a ritual infused dark ambient style and an essential document
that combines historical background with sound art.
